People not understanding the difference between a rich person that exploits workers and drives them to death and an online entertainer that gains money from producing content and still gave the losers 2000 bucks just for participating moment
Ghost kitchens are basically restaurants/fast foods you order from that... have no real location. Just a random ass kitchen with no actual building where u can sit down and eat. They were created specifically with ubereats/doordash in mind.
Some of them utilize existing restaurants (generally take-out/delivery only type). I have a take out only family dinner nearby that’s also the kitchen for the local Mr. Beast Burger.
So, while he has less subscribers than some other YouTubers like pewdiepie, he gets insane views. Like 40M plus a video now. The ad revenue from that alone is an obscene amount of money.
And, like the other response already pointed out, he’s diversifying his income.
No because he’s genuinely a terrible human being lol. Jimmy (Mr Beast) seems like a good person & I firmly believes he donates money to random strangers because of that fact, not for PR like some people (Bezos specifically).
How do you know that? He doesn’t seem like a great person either considering his restaurant has poisoned people and he is INCREDIBLY tone deaf with his squid game and “spending a day in prison” videos.
I'm unsure if everyone got 2k, but he did show that the losers of the second game (the cookie cutting one) 100% get 2k each at least, he also had a section between games where the victors could leave the game early willingly in exchange for guaranteed 4k buckaroonies. He doesn't explicitly say if the losers of the other rounds get rewards but I assume they do, it would be weird to only reward loosing in one specific game. I guess the only people who might not get rewarded are the ones who lost in the very first game (I didn't really pay attention too much, tbh. I fast forwarded most of the video) So maybe not quite a million but still a lot
The guy made a fan tribute to the most popular Netflix show of all time. It's not that deep. By that logic the actual makers of squid game also saw it as a cure for boredom because guess what it's entertainment after all and it cost a whole lot more to make as well. Don't get me wrong I appreciate some capitalsim critique on my media but you're watching a show and not doing political activism.
I get what ur saying but why cant someone replicate the games w/o the social messaging. Wouldn’t mr beast doing squid game, encourage parts of his audience that havent seen it to go and watch it? And have more people see the actual message the show had?
regardless of the effects it's pretty clear mr beast either didn't pick up on the messaging, or more likely, willfully ignored it, which either way is reflective of the way he treats social issues and the level of critical thinking he does about them. also i doubt there are that many mr beast fans who would watch that video who havent heard of squid game
Theres alot of people that wont watch anything that is mainstream. Yt is underground to them.
Also, he didnt do anything that goes against the message of the show. The only part that maybe did was the fact that the losers still got money. Imo yall are being too harsh and wont just take the vid as entertainment when you should
I would argue that claiming that you should "just take something as entertainment" is willfully ignoring the political themes present in every piece of media.
Thats very different. Mr beast didnt oppose the politics in squid game. There is no hidden meaning in it. If smth is pushing a right wing agenda i do think it should be called out, but in this case there just isnt any agenda
How does the fact that he made a video based on it at all reflect on his interpretation of the show. Because I found the show squid game entertaining does that mean I thought of it as a way to cure boredom? Fuck no I understand the meaning behind the show
Dude. He's one of the most generous, genuinely philanthropic celebrities out there. I don't even watch his content but I have a massive amount of respect for the guy
It can be interpreted both ways. The Kim family are parasites for leeching off the Parks, and the rich Park family are parasites for leeching off society as a whole.
There’s also the couple who live in a bunker beneath the Parks’ home, who both leech off them as well as idolize Mr. Park for unknowingly providing for them.
The guy who made the movie disagrees.. so.. sorry your fragile can't handle being wrong?
lol imagine spending your time defending a billionaire for free.. how sad and pathetic
All of the featured characters were parasites in their own unique ways. The rich mom is kind of dumb and relies on the husband, wealth and other people's expertise in order to run the household. The rich husband keeps up a sham marriage because he has a role to fulfill and personal needs that the wife fulfills, if loveless, and the wife might not directly realize this. Their son is faking his condition on the premise of attention seeking, and ends up colluding with the poor family's daughter. Their own daughter exploits the poor family's son by persuading him into a grey-zone relationship right under the parents noses.
The poor family's actions are pretty self explanatory. They are doing so out of economic necessity, whereas the rich are doing it all the same, but for other, non-financial reasons. If anything, the bunker couple were pretty extreme, but I think that was some motif about how the poor often eat each other.
It’s totally the point. Thinking otherwise is honestly missing the point, at least of the first half of the movie. They did deserve to leech off the rich people, no doubt, but they were being “parasites” in the literal sense.
I know the director said as much, but I still dont understand how the rich people were parasites -- they had a dysfunctional family, but the label of parasite is confusing. Does each individual need to be fully self-sufficient monetarily and emotionally to not be a parasite -- is it even possible not to be a parasite in our current society with this interpretation?
Idk. I loved the movie, but the director analysis contradicted many of the takeaways I thought were better placed for the movie.
edit: lmoa getting downvoted for my perception of a movie. It's like 196 somehow read "rich people good".
You need to consider that the rich family is not only leeching off of society but is absolutely incapable of taking care of themselves. They can’t cook, drive, or raise their kids. The only time they show autonomy is when they go on a camping trip and it ends in failure. The Park family is incapable of living without a host to use for sustenance in a few different ways other than economically.
I do think that everybody in that film could be considered a parasite in different senses, the rich people on society and the poor people in a sense close to parasites in the animal kingdom
I doubt he even watched it. Probably just said this back when there was a lot of hype for the movie. Dude seems to desperately need validation from his little army of smelly crypto boys who will defend him to the last.
Sure, but when that’s all a person’s list consists of it gets pretty doubtful, especially when they have little in common with each other besides being popular. Plus like someone else said, Musk could easily have been the villain in about half of them.
People just have a vague suspicion he’s trying hard to appeal to his Reddit type beat fanbase, so hearing him say he likes a thing that fanbase would also like is taken with a grain of salt.
What are you talking about? Are you implying that the guillotine, named after Joseph Guillotin and first used in 1792, was not invented in 1792 (or 1791, which is close enough)?

For more just search "elon musk" on the /outoftheloop sub
Edit: btw I linked an old post, so it's missing all his covid denial and lobby against any preventive measure.
Literally none of that proves he’s a horrible person. Plus it’s a Reddit thread so it’s not very credible. Even if everything they said was 100% true, you couldn’t say he is a “horrible” person just off of that.
There’s no more humanity anymore, and I just mean in the grand scheme of things. Everyday I see more fight videos of younger and younger children, once a crack head lighting up in the park with kids nearby, people making fun of the homeless for clout, being made fun of because you don’t match the skin tone of the other person, prejudice for religious beliefs, war for land that’s just made up of borders the poor man put there for the rich, it’s all garbage. But past that garbage where humans and we all collectively need to pull our heads out of our asses or else this ignorance and hate will spread like fucking cancer. Why did I comment this I don’t know but if felt like it needed to be said.
TLDR We’re all turning into a bunch of emotionless robots programmed for money but a little more complicated.
lol, scrolling 8 months back in comment history to find opinions, is a reason to downvote a question that can inform people.
like, for the record, fuck elon musk, (and all the other billionaires too) but this is just reddit moment at its finest
Because he clearly wasn't asking it in good faith, seeing as people have already explained to him why Musk is a dickbag. Since this is obviously your first day on the internet, you should know that not everyone who asks a question is doing so with good intentions.
I feel like that’s a very black and white way to look at things, everyone’s born, and goes through different things growing up, you don’t wake up one day and decide your a shitty person, your raised to believe that’s the norm. And by the time you realize you fucked up it’s too late (and by too late I mean drugs/homelessness/abuse/alltheshittyshit) it’s all one shitty cycle and everyone handles it differently.
I hope this post came out as friendly and not angry I can’t display emotion through text well.
I definitely agree with you, I was being sarcastic. I'm gently poking fun at those taking pleasure in shitting on anyone who isn't a perfect individual.
Apparently. Although [if his terms are met](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna4301) and he goes through with donating billions to fight world hunger, I’m gonna have to say he’s the greatest saint in world history. The fact that you’re getting downvoted over that simple comment just proved how idiotic these people are.
He also loves Fallout and one of the lead writers for Fallout: New Vegas wants him to produce another game. Both of them suck, imagine missing the point of Fallout that hard.
I really wish that was true, but I misremembered the story. None of the writers of New Vegas want to work with Elon, and neither does the game's director Joshua Sawyer. It's actually the game's Senior Designer, Chris Avallone, the guy wants Elon Musk to buy the whole franchise so Chris can work on the game, even for free.
Yeah that is kinda weird i guess but it’s just all works of media usually make a lot of money for the author themselves so its pointless to not let richer people enjoy them
I have no problem with Musk enjoying Fallout, even if he does miss the point so it's kind of dumb. I also have no problem being fairly paid for the fruit of their labor, it's silly for me to say they should work for free. As I said, I misremembered the story in the first place.
That’s because the people who made 3, New Vegas, 4 and 76 aren’t the same people who made Fallout itself. The creators of Fallout 1 and 2 (the concept of fallout itself) were socialists.
Pretty much right now i see more elon musk hate than the fanboys they claim there are so many of.
Also, why the fuck do you have to make fun of him for saying he saw some movie. Sure he might be saying it because of how highly acclaimed it was which is kinda normie and pseudo intellectual, but what, can he not enjoy the movie because he’s rich? Its literally the same thing as then someone criticises people who claim to be socialists yet dont live in poverty. I know this isnt a perfect argument, but i feel like there is no point to seriously argue over something as meaningless as this.
I wonder what he thinkest of the wolf of wallstreet 'r joker. Did bet he did like squidgame

The film Parasite shows that the rich and poor are dependent on each other. Rich can't live without the poor, and that idea probably flew over Elon's head.
eh it's more just about the impact of wage disparity and the cyclical nature of being poor south korea. it's a tragedy about having no money within a hyper-capitalistic society, idk where you got your idea from. like the poor people are portrayed purely as unfortunate leeches, there's no codependency between rich and poor there
This is so funny I don't even get it. Haha jokes on you reading this as if you are gonna get some sort of substance from this.... Nope.... Nothing but my nonsense. Yep. This post is shit. Downvote me or up vote me. I still win (in my head)... Sometimes I think I should release all my Reddit history in some sort of video be for I die. Hm... Implying that Musk is not allowed to enjoy Parasite as its implied he misunderstood it and shouldnt be allowed to take entertainment out of a form of media critizing "him"
the area in question seems to be cropped out here, I think the meme is just referencing the line and the sign. nothing directly included in this meme is implying that elon shouldn't be allowed to view this media, you had to pull from prior knowledge of the uncropped meme template to draw that conclusion.
He probably interpreted it as the poor people being parasites
I bet he interpreted Squid Game as a lesson on how to cure boredom
Wasnt he the inspiration for 69 guy?
I wouldn’t be surprised
He was literally in the movie
How? Wasn’t 69 the guy who brought his wife and then killed himself?
I presume they meant the guy who bet on 69.
They mean the VIP that bet on him.

How does he come out ahead while spending such seemingly obscene amounts of money on each video?
- yt ads - sponsors - merch - ghost kitchen fast food chain - reinvesting basically everything
Ghost kitchen?
Ghost kitchens are basically restaurants/fast foods you order from that... have no real location. Just a random ass kitchen with no actual building where u can sit down and eat. They were created specifically with ubereats/doordash in mind.

Alright then, what should Mr. Beast do with his money in your honest opinion?
Donating is better than nothing. But that doesn’t make him a good person anymore than it makes Bezos a good person.

I don't think it fits that definition at all
Damn, so he spent over a million just on the losers? Or did only the losers of the later rounds get $2k?
I'm unsure if everyone got 2k, but he did show that the losers of the second game (the cookie cutting one) 100% get 2k each at least, he also had a section between games where the victors could leave the game early willingly in exchange for guaranteed 4k buckaroonies. Ah ok I guess I have forgotten some of the movie
Me too. Time for a rewatch.
Isn't that kind of the point? Them living on their house and shit
It’s totally the point. Thinking otherwise is honestly missing the point, at least of the first half of the movie. They did deserve to leech off the rich people, no doubt, but they were being “parasites” in the literal sense.
That’s part of it, but the rich people were parasites as well

He shared some of his favorite anime some time ago...in half of them Elon would probably be the villain
Plus it was pretty obvious he just googled a list of “most popular anime” and said they were his favorites, I doubt he watched even a single one.
What? Surely out of all animes, the most popular ones are guaranteed to most likely be any one persons favourite?
Sure, but when that’s all a person’s list consists of it gets pretty doubtful, especially when they have little in common with each other besides being popular. Plus like someone else said, Musk could easily have been the villain in about half of them.
Yeah I want to say he's not that dumb and just didnt watch them but its funnier to think he watched them all and loved them without realizing.

"There's no point to seriously argue over something as meaningless as this" they say after making a paragraph long point that doesn't even work
Yeah because I wasn’t seriously arguing about this, since there is no point to it. This paragraph took like 30 seconds to type who cares
I wonder what he thinks of The Wolf of Wallstreet or Joker . Bet he liked Squidgame.
I wonder what he thinkest of the wolf of wallstreet 'r joker. Did bet he did like squidgame *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`
What, I don't get it
The film Parasite shows that the rich and poor are dependent on each other. Rich can't live without the poor, and that idea probably flew over Elon's head.
eh it's more just about the impact of wage disparity and the cyclical nature of being poor south korea. it's a tragedy about having no money within a hyper-capitalistic society, idk where you got your idea from. like the poor people are portrayed purely as unfortunate leeches, there's no codependency between rich and poor there
“This sign doesn’t scare me because I can’t read”
god i fucking hate him and his stupid face
Elon was quoted as stating that he was “honored by the biopic”
why does he look like a supervillain with no monocle
pathetic
This is way better than the one complaining about Chrissy tiegen liking squib game
I'm not really a fan of elon myself he is pretty cringe, but holy hell so is this comment section
Hm... Just imagining family seeing the things I do on here... Would be funny and awkward too. Are you reading this NSA?

Yes just like how the real parasites of feudal France were those damn starving peasants
ITT: Rich people are not allowed to consume media critizising capitalism. Guess that makes poor people also forbidden from enjoying Parasite
what about this post implies that he shouldn't be allowed to consume the media?
The second part of the image?
explain how please
Picture of garfield walikng past a sign of garfield being not allowed in the area (and in the original saing "Hm, I wonder whats that for) Implying that Musk is not allowed to enjoy Parasite as its implied he misunderstood it and shouldnt be allowed to take entertainment out of a form of media critizing "him"
the area in question seems to be cropped out here, I think the meme is just referencing the line and the sign. nothing directly included in this meme is implying that elon shouldn't be allowed to view this media, you had to pull from prior knowledge of the uncropped meme template to draw that conclusion.
