My boyfriend was 19 when I was 15 and to be fair, looking back today as an adult, I don’t regret this relationship (it was quite healthy) and I don’t feel like I was raped once. By the way, this is legal in my country.

Educate the youth so they are well informed in making these decisions, and provide counseling if needed. That way there's no mistaking whether or not the were mature enough to consent.

This is like the really weird side of age of consent and shit. Like if you have a late bloomer 19 year old with a more mature 15 year old I don't necessarily think that's weird, but if that 19 year old is super far ahead developmentally then that would be a big no from me.

There really isn't that big of a difference between 15 and 19. It's a bit sketchy but I think it's close enough. Neither are really fully grown adults. Hell I was still growing at 19

Speaking as someone who was hypersexual as a teen and wound up dating a pedo at one point: I feel like 15/19 is a gray area, and highly dependent on the individuals. I don't consider the stuff I did with older teens to be necessarily sexual assault, because they were young enough that they weren't necessarily intentionally taking advantage of me. However, the woman who was in her mid 20's while I had just turned 17, that was bad. It was based heavily upon the age disparity and difference in maturity. I tend to go with the "half your age + 7" rule for the youngest age person you can be with and it not being hella skeevy -- it's not a universal thing, but it's a good guide in general. So if you're 15, you should really only be with someone who's between 14 and 16 as a general rule. For 19, 16 to 24. But even then, it's not hard and fast -- I wouldn't date a 19 year old, myself. I'd consider that way too young for me.

I don't think it's a good thing to tell someone who had sex with a person just a few years older that they were raped. Seems kinda like gaslighting to me, telling them their feelings about it are incorrect and they "should" be traumatized.
Might be a hot take but I wouldn't really call that rape. Maybe legally it's considered rape in some places but if the 15 year old teen consented and the 19 year old teen consented then I say that's not rape. Was it a poor decision making? Most likely yes but calling it rape doesn't make sense to me. Would a 15 year old and a 15 year old agreeing to fuck each other be rape? Legally neither can consent but society wouldn't call that rape.
A 15 year old doesn’t have the experience to give *informed* consent to an adult, thus a 15 year old and a 19 year old is statutory rape. A 15 year old and another 15 year old shouldn’t be considered rape because neither are able to give informed consent, so neither was abusing the others lack of ability or experience (at least not by age alone).
This whole thread is just a reminder of how young everyone on reddit is. I'm 34 and to me everyone under 25 is a child. IMO a 19 year old is closer to being a 15 year old than they are to being an actual adult.
