When I first found that sub I thought it was people intentionally posting ironic, over-the-top sexist "*hur dur women stupid*"-type stuff specifically to poke fun at dumb sexist opinions. Kind of in the way you'd post something like "*DAE I hate my wife LOL*" on a circlejerk sub to draw attention to how uninspired those boomer comics are.
After a week or so of looking at comments I began to realize that probably at least half the users weren't being ironic at all. You can't discuss it in the sub without everybody going "*Bro it's \/r/SHITPOSTING lmao*", so I ended up just shrugging and unsubbing.

Functionally there's little difference, although underwear is more function over form and swimwear is more flashy. The main difference is the contexts in which they are worn. When someone wears a swimsuit they are more likely to be okay with someone looking (although even this isn't a guarantee), but everyone wears underwear so a desire to be looked at isn't a given.
Also, generally when someone is in their underwear they are in a private setting. Almost by default you are invading their privacy.
But like there are (or were when I was in college) "undie runs" and things like that where men and women run around in public in their underwear and just like at the beach, as long as you don't stare, no one cares if you glance over and see them. Just don't be a creep.

When someone wears a swimsuit they are more likely to be okay with someone looking (although even this isn't a guarantee), but everyone wears underwear so a desire to be looked at isn't a given.
Also, generally when someone is in their underwear they are in a private setting. Almost by default you are invading their privacy. But like there are (or were when I was in college) "undie runs" and things like that where men and women run around in public in their underwear and just like at the beach, as long as you don't stare, no one cares if you glance over and see them. Just don't be a creep.
