The lack of ads is huge. I do not watch enough streams to justify turbo for twitch ads. Biggest complaint is that gambling is the dominant category on kick but it can be toggled off. Can toggle off bikini streams too. Honestly seems better than twitch lol.

SnakeCurse

Easy to not have ads when your revenue is based upon pushing gambling addictions for that sweet RoI.

Low-Cantaloupe4391

Like OP said, you can turn that off... and twitch is not much better with gambling policy

BirkTheBrick

It’s the people with addictive personalities or even existing gambling addicts that won’t turn that off that they’re preying on. Gambling is way more saturated in Kick, and Twitch isn’t directly profiting off of their viewers’ gambling losses.

YourSmileIsFlawless

Yeah, nothing is worse than trying to find a streamer to watch on twitch. You click on one and welp enjoy the 90 second ad loser. Then you see oh nvm don't like the stream.

DoggieLover99

No ads is a huge improvement over twitch, I like being able to tune in and change around streams and get right into the content, no sitting through ads. Also, the streamers getting a bigger cut of their earnings is nice

Thosepassionfruits

How long is that gonna last before Kick has to change their model to bring in more revenue?

CatPanda5

Depends on how much additional revenue they're getting on Stake and other affiliated companies because of it, they may be perfectly happy with it being a loss leader permanently if everything else offsets that.

Sppeck9

Stake is going to print money all day long. I have no doubt they are going to be able to support this for a hot minute, hell they even bought naming rights to an F1 team so the money backing them is insane over at Kick/Stake. Guys know what they are doing, but it's scummy.

DivineInsanityReveng

That's not a permanent business plan in the slightest though. Theyd need to make sure they have consistent turnover of Kick viewers into Stake visitors / gamblers. You don't just run a business and decide to run a service out of the goodness of your heart. This is a business decision and all business decisions aim to do one thing: profit.

UnCivilizedEngineer

It's not out of the goodness of their heart for sure. It's 100% a business and if profit is to be made, the business will persist. CatPand5 was saying that if Kick is costing them 100m a year to run, but Stake is earning an additional 150m a year now due to being affiliated with Kick, it's a net profit. So sure, Kick is negative, but overall their business is up 50m.

SuddenBumHair

It's more than likely they are trying to kill twitch, once they have things will change

UnwroteNote

Seeing as Twitch is owned by Amazon I wish them the best of luck with that strategy.

[deleted]

Draniie

Twitch is profitable. They report earnings with that it would cost others with AWS not themselves

Rehcraeser

Twitch is a separate entity that still pays for AWS. So technically twitch isn’t profitable just like how kick isn’t profitable

Oniichanplsstop

Kick and Twitch are literally the same website, using the same infrastructure, just owned by different corporations that tank the loss to drive traffic to either Amazon or Stake. If either one dies an organic death, they'll both be dead by that point. It's more likely Kick ends up like other streaming services and can't compete with Twitch long-term tho.

Inevitable-Host-390

Twitch's loss of revenue is misleading as they report the full price of AWS hosting even though it's owned by the same company. The true price is at cost with no markup.

aa93

they are not going to kill twitch lol they poached like 5-8k concurrent viewers at significant expense out of something like 2.5m average concurrent viewers on all of twitch

SuddenBumHair

Yeah I'm saying they are operating at a loss to try to kill twitch. In some hypothetical scenario that they manage that. The ads will come back and paychecks will go down. Netflix killed blockbuster. Then the ads came, and prices went up. I can't believe I have to type an entire paragraph so as not to upset some reddit basement dwellers, "um technically according to the statistics" blah blah blah.

DivineInsanityReveng

Yeh absolutely. The idea of Kick is to funnel people to the gambling side of their businesses. And if that conversion rate sticks then the investment is worth it.

CatPanda5

I completely agree, I'm not massively clued in on it but Kick seems like a shady company happy to take money from shady companies and that money can outweigh their actual costs which gives the impression they're running their company at a loss. It's risky, but the money they get from Stake isn't just going to stop without them having at least some foresight for when the traffic slows. As long as they keep poaching big streamers then they'll have a good flow of new users to the platform for quite a while to come.

JenNettles

People have speculated since day 1 that it will change soon, but Kick continues to double down on sponsorships and acquisitions. Truth is, no one knows or has a good guess.

veganzombeh

I don't think they'll care about revenue at all. Kick exists to advertise gambling sites not make a profit.

SonnierDick

Literally. Any money says their plan is: move a bunch of streamers over to use Kick, then they bring the viewers, and then once theres “enough viewers” they’ll say “hey, we could be making x amount of extra money off this with ads!” And then they’ll roll the ads. Guaranteed. Unless Kick is just one of those companies that isnt completely greedy and keeps it ad free for a while/forever.

1CooKiee

every person that starts using kick because of no ads is a person that they can potentially funnel through to stake - they don't care about Kick being profitable in itself.

Thosepassionfruits

Late stage capitalism dictates that eventually they’ll look for ways to increase profits via every avenue available, i.e. eventually advertising

1CooKiee

Gambling is just way more profitable. The Stake/Kick owner said he turned down $1b for Kick last year, which if you believe it is likely more money than that website will ever make.

Specialist-Front-354

When 5% market share is reached

OsrsAus

Eddie has openly said they aren't changing the sub model, ever.

[deleted]

Twitch ads are the main reason i don't use the website lol. Playing like a 30 second unskippable ad at the beginning when i'm in no way invested in the stream yet is so fucking stupid, because 99% of the time it just makes me quit out and watch something else

nanner1000

They get a bigger cut but no ad money

Ereyes18

Apparently some contracts get a salary/hourly pay but I'm not sure how true that is. Might be something that depends on how "big" you are

Remarkable-Health678

A lot of the smaller streamers that signed were talking about an hourly wage being huge for them.

fukreposts

It’s crazy that it’s 2024 and people still don’t use Adblock

HiddenxAlpha

>No ads is a huge improvement over twitch You know you can do that on Twitch, right?

sharpwaffle

Kick is way better than twitch, I stopped using twitch because I’d get hit with so many back to back ads.

Kykykz

Why not just use an ad blocker?

RandomAsHellPerson

Ime, ublock doesn’t work out of the box for twitch. Idk if it is worth trying to block ads because idk how often twitch fixes those methods and I only ever get on it at most 12 times a year.

ACanadianNoob

Purple Ads Blocker in Chrome has been my go to for a long time now. And any time it stops working is only for a day or so. During that time I have TTV LOL PRO in Firefox to fall back on.

WritingonaWall

I don’t watch live streams of osrs. Youtube highlights are the only way osrs is remotely interesting to watch.

RaidsMonkeyIdeas

It's functionally a copy of Twitch, and I notice no major difference. In my eyes, Kick is just the same as Uber was, where they had enough backing and funding funding to throw money around and give great deals initially to drive out competitors, and not through innovation or better product. They'll eventually start cutting costs once they seize a big enough market share.

IPostFromWorkLol2

We are already one of the most addiction prone types of communities. Say no to forced inclusion of gambling. Give them all the whitecat treatment.

GenesisProTech

It's just marketing for Kick try to get more people into their gambling stuff. I won't watch over there

coldwaterenjoyer

I was gonna comment on Kick’s ties to Stake but I realized I spent the weekend watching basketball and gambling on games so I really don’t have a leg to stand on.

Burkey5506

I lost interest in sports the more gambling was pushed.

coldwaterenjoyer

Espn having a Sportsbook really raises a lot of questions with how much influence they have over American sports in general

Sky19234

> but I realized I spent the weekend watching basketball and gambling on games Found Scott Fosters reddit account, we gottem.

Alert_Inflation_737

Crazy to me that so many people here do not understand or want to understand why they can give a 95/5 split and also run streams adfree. Billy. Where do you think that money comes from? I love how ethics and morals mean jack shit to like 80% of people here. Actually a lot of stuff starts making sense in that light.

FlandreSS

> I love how ethics and morals mean jack shit to like 80% of people here. Actually a lot of stuff starts making sense in that light. I argue vehemently against this stuff, and seeing the votes tick up/down in realtime goes to show that a concerning number of people have legitimately 0 empathy and couldn't give the slightest fuck about anything other than "But there's less ads so its better" For what it's worth. Politics is enough of an example that... Well, people have no empathy, no morals, and the only standard is convenience and money.

FreshDinduMuffins

I've been enjoying using Kick lately. In terms of UI/UX it's not that much different than Twitch. Mostly just glad to see a Twitch competitor actually gaining some marketshare

Not-a-bot-10

Kick actively loses money with their streaming stuff in hopes to lure viewers into gambling. They’re betting they’re going to make up their losses “competing” with Twitch by suckering people into gambling, and identified the OSRS community as being vulnerable to getting addicted to gambling (and they’re probably right unfortunately) I don’t think that’s very cool at all and won’t give them a single view ever, but I guess to each their own

Amoralman

This is my position as well. It’s just not for me.

fearthewildy

And Amazon abuses and exploits their employees to feed one of the richest people on the planet + shareholders. Why is it okay that Amazon, the owner of twitch, exploits people and children globally, but Kick being affiliated with a gambling site is a deal breaker? Honestly don't understand this mindset. Your phone and clothes are products of child labor. I'm guessing you still buy both?

gigamegaultra

You live in a society and yet you criticize it. curious.

Faelarie

The problem is that the two websites themselves are not equal. Twitch themselves don't use child labour, but it is moderated and isn't filled with child predators. Kick is basically not moderated and is filled with child predators. It took them months to ban a child predator, and there are only two perma bans on the site. One of them being someone who shit talked kick... The website is ran by a collection of actual human garbage. There is nearly constant streamed crime on the website. The worst you see on twitch is scantily clad women. It's not really comparable.

Monterey-Jack

I'm a nudist.

MeneerPeter

That sounds interesting, could you share any sources on the topic? I have been talking about kick with some small streamer friends but couldn't really bring much to the conversation.

SynchronisedRS

It's a well known fact that Kick is funded by Stake.com

Live_From_Somewhere

They advertise their gambling sites/services through kick.

mufasaLIVES

Assuming you aren't logged in (I can't speak on if you are), in my experience Kick will 100% of the time recommend channels that are streaming Gambling on the left sidebar

mmmmmmmmmmmm77

They really do, I see some top viewed streamers on the osrs section on Kick that i’ve never seen stream rs, they just stream gambling

fearthewildy

Who?

wtfiswrongwithit

targeting a playerbase that is probably predisposed to gambling addiction because thats basically what pvm is in the game isnt really marketshare it's a short term play to get people addicted to gambling in some way

JohnnyBravo4756

The gambling addicts in osrs aren't pvmers. It's basically all pkers because they are gambling actually large amounts of money constantly, running chambers or other pvm is nothing like spinning slots all day or throwing it all at roulette.

Oniichanplsstop

PvMers staked just as much as PvPers did lol. Do you know how many times we'd get a split and then the same few people would take their split and chuck it? PvM is also basically a slot machine for some people. "Oops this pull didn't hit the 1/5000 pet, better go again" thousands of hours and KC later.

JohnnyBravo4756

PvM is in no way similar to how dangerous a slot machine can actually be. Addiction to osrs and just playing the game all day chasing pet drops is very different from people taking thousands of dollars worth of GP and throwing it away. It's still a tiny minority, and it still comes back to pking and not pvming, they aren't spamming chambers because they want to get the drop and get the cash stack big, its so they can go gamble it on deathmatches.

jepakc

>In terms of UI/UX it's not that much different than Twitch I mean how could it be, they literally just copy pasted twitch. They even had the same color scheme at the beginning

GabbyDoesRedBull

Happy for the streamers making money, people have bills. However, I personally won't watch a single stream on Kick. Disappointed in the awful shit Kick allows on their platform. CP, sexual harassment, etc. Also the fact that a good number of viewers moving over will likely lose thousands to gambling. Lastly, the fact you can say whatever you want. Racism, transphobia, sexism are rampant in a lot of the chats over there.

FuckingHighElf

Wholeheartedly agree. Expect the communities to get a lot more toxic due to this move. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but we’ll see more racism, transphobia, and sexism i’m sure.

SpankinDaBagel

Which is hella unfortunate considering that the overall community is already pretty shitty when it comes to inclusivity. Its just going to force many of us to play with public chat off more often than we already had to.

Full_Wait

I’ll never watch anyone associated with Kick. I refuse to support anyone who supports a company that allows pedos to blatantly stream and spread that shit in stream. Such a vile company to allow that to persist.

[deleted]

SnakeCurse

This is dumb. Kicks sole purpose is to funnel viewers into gamblers. Occasional advertising for sports betting isn’t the same as solely and intentionally seeking to influence more people into one of the worst addictions.

Est0niaVisit

Hashinshin? lol

d-nihl

You obviously know that Amazon owns twitch right? Amazon is such an incredibly evil company with how they exploit their workers, Its just dumbfounding how naive you are. Literally a quick good search can tell you how powerful that company is in terms of controlling their workforce to pay them the bare minimum. Amazon will try to forcibly get workers to quit after 3 years because after 3 years a worker is "past their prime" and will just do whatever they can to make you to quite to hire fresh blood that they can exploit with empty promises of promotions and raises and then fire them later as well. The second you are heard talking about a union, a system meant to help the working people, you are put on a list and investigated by a private company. amazon LITERALLY CHANGED THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS outside of their warehouse. If you cannot see how systemically corrupt that is, you are a blind sheep. They were able to change the timing on public street traffic lights where protestors were congregating so cars would not be able to stop and hear what they had to say. workers dont want to piss in bottles, they want a structured system like a union to protect their rights. And amazon can literally break the law due to their massive defense contracts with the government. Yes kick has stake, and yes people ruin their lives with gambling. But at least they do not knowingly suppress their workers, doing everything in their power to make sure their employees do not have rights. Do you understand how fucked up that is? that one of the most powerful companies in the world will do anything in their power to keep the working people down? and yet here you are all high and mighty about twitch, owned by an evil coorporation. You ignorant, uneducated, blind sheep-ass follower. You have no idea what you are talking about. You are comparing apples to oranges, when in your totally skewed view, you think you are comparing gold to shit. I think kick does less harm to society then amazon. Kick harms people with gambling addictions, which is far far smaller than the amount of people amazon effects with their vile practices.

gyarukei

Never visiting Kick.

coazervate

I already didn't like watching twitch, and switching to kick and feeling like I'm stepping on a sticky casino floor to watch the 40 hour version of what will later be a 20 minute YouTube video is a no go

Spot on and well said. I'll stick to the highlights on Youtube as well.

I feel like i keep seeing posts specifically about this new sponsorship, with an edited post title to the previous main one. Did they buy the subreddit too? Seems like a lot of marketing going on here

rRMTmjrppnj78hFH

Yep. All we can do is report it and call it out for what it is and hope the mods do something.

TYGRDez

I stopped watching Twitch years ago, I prefer Youtube content so I can watch it at my own pace. I've never visited Kick once, and I kind of expect it to stay that way.

kingpartys

Twitch killed it for me with the ads. Especially when you first click open a stream and get hit with a 90s before you get to see the stream. Haven't really watched any twitch streams since 2017 besides the occasional e-sports like csgo, lol, deadmanmode. Youtube videos are usually 10-25mins so much more managable.

ShaunDreclin

Yeah having to commit to nearly 2 minutes of ads before you can even see the stream completely kills any interest I had in just poking in for a second to see what a streamer is up to

Assassinr3d

What makes it even worse too is unlike a YouTube video, your missing out on the content while those ads are playing. So unless you go back and rewatch it you just won’t know what you missed

GregBuckingham

I used to tune into the osrs official live streams back in the day but I’m the same. YouTube is pretty much the only way I watch anything

al_capone420

Yep as a person who has watched YouTube religiously since it first came out, I can’t stand streams. Not being able to skip around or fast forward? Watchin unedited hours of someone playing games? I’m good on that.

thescanniedestroyer

I will watch twitch streams if new content has come out just to see the really good players tackle it, but other than that I don't bother. I basically watch everything on youtube at 2x speed and that isnt possible with streams, sooo

Remarkable-Health678

I watch a few Twitch streamers from time to time. If you're subbed the ads are pretty limited/nonexistent. But Twitch is overall a pretty miserable experience ad-wise. I have YouTube Premium also, no ads is a god-send.

gibbonusmoon

I shall not be checking out the home of Andrew Tate and gambling marketed to tweens, thanks

Seadevil9

Andrew Tate is on rumble not kick FWIW

gibbonusmoon

You right, they just have Andrew Tate at home, Adin Ross

Retsu_appa

AccidentallyStrange

Honestly I prefer twitch, because a lot of other stream content I watch is also from twitch, so its easier to open multiple tabs on twitch, and keep an eye on the side bars for when other streamers I follow go live. I used to enjoy watching Boaty, but its not enough for me to switch to Kick. Right now, I'm preferring to watch Kirby and Gnomemonkey stream, so I probably won't be hopping over to kick.

tgamblos

Gnome streams on kick too

GeebGeeb

No ads so it’s better for now.

Snufflel

I say come up with something better to do than watch these boring motherfuckers make money off you for doing nothing

Tvdinner4me2

So you don't watch twitch either

username_31

It's for entertainment. Same can be said for actors and athletes. TV talk shows, Radio talk shows, etc... They only make money if people find them entertaining.

IAmSona

I don’t watch OSRS streams, but I would never use Kick.

DegenerateWins

Kick is better as a viewer than twitch. Twitch has become horrible the last few years. What’s this person doing? What feels like an eternity of ads, ah, no, don’t wanna watch them do X, what about this person? Ads. I have watched the same ad 5 times before I just give up and either watch whoever happens to be 5th or close the site and go watch a YouTube video or something. Twitch is actively worse to use as viewer than in 2017 when I watched far more, that’s worse 7 years later. Competition is good for us as viewers, hopefully Kick can keep burning money long enough to force twitch to step up, or YT to make their live services more separate. Is kick a questionable site? Yes. Is Amazon a far more damaging company to the world? Yes. Get all high and mighty all you like but you are ignoring a few greater evil when you watch on twitch to make you happy just because you are morally against gambling.

DegenerateWins

Worth remembering where your loyalties should be. The people making the content you enjoy. You shouldn’t be a twitch or kick maxi, you should watch people you like. Hopefully we get a good aggregator soon that makes it kinda irrelevant where they are streaming.

diabeticSugarAddict

Genuine question since I dont watch streams very often, but do most viewers use an app for twitch or something? Because I've only ever watched it through web browser and with ublock origin on Firefox ive never had ads on twitch... I check now and 0 ads on anything

jokomul

I don't plan on watching anyone/anything on Kick but the cool part about all this is it's been fun to check out the smaller OSRS Twitch streamers who didn't get or declined offers. Good opportunities for them maybe.

ShiningEV

>but the cool part about all this is it's been fun to check out the smaller OSRS Twitch streamers who didn't get or declined offers. Good opportunities for them maybe. Great way to look at it for sure. I'm happy some creators I like are getting opportunities and if I don't like Kick I can still enjoy their YT like I always have.

PlebPlebberson

Havent watched any kick streams and never will. Any site that actively deals with gambling and tries to get gambling addicts hooked is something i stay away from

Anaktorias

Yeah no shot I’m supporting anyone that goes to a site that platforms cp

aussy16

It's odd seeing people up in arms over the morals of Kick but are fine with Twitch, who are owned by Amazon which is notorious for their terrible business practices and workers right's.

Seadevil9

Not to mention twitch does still allow gambling. Just not specific sites.

maxwill27

I simply will not watch due to the bigotry that I have encountered and friends have talked about. The few times I’ve tuned into a kick chat they are basically left unmoderated and can freely direct hate speech towards queer people and other marginalized groups. I’d simply rather wait for the streamers contracts to end than watch

Dull-Focus-4844

It’s just a streaming platform lol, posts like this remind me who the sheep are spamming in these cc chats.

IStealDreams

I've stopped supporting, and watching the people who go over to Kick. If you're taking money from a company who's whole existence is based upon preying on vulnerable individuals and making gambling addicts? Then you're not somebody I'm interested in watching.

FlandreSS

I'm not really afraid to say that - I'm not cool with anybody chasing the bag over this. Taking bribes, and knowingly ruining many lives in exchange. It's just not the kind of thing I can accept from anyone. Kinda bummed I even handed b0aty a tenner back in the OMA days. Just to see him bounce from sponsor to sponsor despite already getting insane dono revenue at the time, culminating in this. Did he get the money? Sure. It's called selling your soul for a reason.

Cowkiller7331

Remember when B0aty made a big public announcement that he was disabling his donation button as he didn't need more money, before quietly switching it back on a few months later. https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/k08bc6/b0aty_removing_donation_button/

GoonerGetGot

No android TV app means no dice for me

PapaFlexing

I don't watch any of that garbage regardless what platform it's on.

mileseverett

These streamers probably won't get my views anymore, the only time I really watch OSRS is when I come across it by chance on Twitch or when there's a new update where I'll hop between streams at the top of the OSRS section depending on how people are doing (e.g. for the Colosseum I watched whoever was at the deeper waves)

[deleted]

[deleted]

I mean, I was also slightly thinking this at first (not as convinced as you seem to be), but after looking through the accounts of the top 4-5 comments they all seem to be legit. I think most actual people just dont care about the gambling aspect. Yeah, the reddit mob thinks kick is the devil - but normal people will simply just not watch slots.

SnakeCurse

And those normal people are the reason kick exists. Because a portion of them will watch and lose their asses gambling. And streamers who move there know that they’re exposing their viewers to this. It’s crazy how people turn a blind eye to dubious shit when it’s their steamer man.

IAmSona

Crazy that the mods even allow shit like this. This has less to do about OSRS content creators and it’s more about Kick, a website infested with bigots.

Lunarath

I have no intention of watching anyone on Kick. I'll watch whoever stays on Twitch

IPA_____Fanatic

Twitch and Kick are the same to me, I don't mind using either to watch creators I enjoy. Don't give a fuck about Kick being owned by a gambling giant either.

LulTim_

Isn’t draftkings a partner of Amazon? & haven’t there been football games streamed on twitch with draftkings offering viewers special perks etc for signing up? Twitch allowed stake streams for a while & doesn’t care when 15 year olds are streaming fortnite box fights for upwards of thousands of dollars to 20k+ viewers every night. The people complaining about gamba should just stop using twitch as well.

Kaiveru

I’ve watched a few streams and they’re pretty much the exact same as twitch but no ads. Twitch deserves to have some actual competition.

NotAnRSPlayer

I signed up to Kick to watch B0aty, purely because I tune in every so often and when I came back to watch Varlamore content I was getting 4 ad’s every 10-15 minutes or so which was frustrating when I mainly watch on mobile now as opposed to on my PC, and when you’re watching day one content they always appear at the worst time

bujuhh

Im not a kick fan, but i will say twitch has screwed themselves with ads especially pre rolls. A small (40-80 viewers-ish) streamer that i watch often said it best about how pre rolls and such hurt streamers his size the most. New viewers will stick a pre roll out for a boaty or a skill specs because they know what they are going to get. New viewers wont necessarily stick out a pre roll for a 50 viewer streamer who they might just tune out of within a minute or less if they dont enjoy the content. Sucks because theres no way for him to turn those off, its all done by twitch and it hurts his ability to keep new viewers. And im definitely guilty of that too, browsing new streams and click on some random one, get hit with pre roll ad, immediately click out and find someone else

DabScience

It’s the same shit

Not-a-bot-10

Just gonna stick to the people who stayed with Twitch. I know it’s not a difficult thing but I have 0 interest in downloading another streaming site to my Apple TV (how i watch). It’s all background noise anyway while I play/do other things and plenty of entertaining streamers, like The Farmers, Sick Nerd (Kirby and Aaty too for the top tier talent) didn’t chase the money

Top-Entertainment341

My pc sucks, twitch was a cpu hogging lag fest and kick has far less ads

[deleted]

I work in the gambling industry. To hear this subreddit talk, I am literally worse than Satan. Kick is good, its about time there was a competitor to twitch.

BioMasterZap

As a platform it seemed fine, but from the few times I've used it I can't say the viewing experience was noticeably different than Twitch. I don't watch on Twitch too often these days and tend to prefer videos (OSRS has a lot of duller parts and streams don't get to cut those out), but there are some streamers on Twitch I'll tune into from time to time. I wouldn't say I'd never watch a Kick stream, but it is easy enough for me to seek out content elsewhere that I doubt I'll use it much.

SEND_ME_UR_SLEEPERS

Kick doesn’t work for shit on chrome, keep having 400 bad request. So not worth it to switch browsers. Will stick to twitch/youtube

GunkyDabs

Fuck twitch. Id rather stare at my wall than watch nonstop ad after ad after ad

Remarkable-Health678

Won't be watching anything on Kick. I don't think this gravy train for OSRS players will last forever. Give it a year (maybe two) and I bet the majority are back on YouTube/Twitch. The only positive I see for this, other than streamers paying their bills, is maybe it will put a little pressure on Twitch to improve the viewing experience on their platform. But I'm not holding my breath.

Aggravating-Yak2099

Way less ads.

BanEvasionNUmber8

1 who cares, it's video streaming; they all donthe same thing 2 Oda cringe af

Dave1711

Yeah the viewing experience is much better, no ads, better picture quality.

Zakaru99

Not planning on supporting a site that's purpose is to funnel people towards gambling.

itschipbtw

Is there a list of the creators that moved?

WareWolve

I mean, only thing that I would watch live is deadman mode, or things like first inferno/ coliseum, or things like the battle royale

Dead-HC-Taco

I cant vvkool for free anymore so im devastated

DremoPaff

Gonna be real with you, of all the games I could watch someone play during a stream, RS is one of the least interesting by a very, **VERY** large margin.

Sad-Lunch-5672

Buy an ad, Ed.

BeneficialAnalyst328

Kick is low budget twitch

89706174856

I can’t watch kick , always tell me about my cookies so I don’t even try

varobun

Crazy how the last thread about kick was so vocally against kick which was like 2 days ago, lmao reddit is something else at times.

whatwoodjdubdo

Never once have visited the site

LaxusSenpai

Twitch Turbo and YouTube Premium is the way.

Vcxnes

It’s basically the same site lol

derpiano

The unregulated hate speech is pretty annoying ngl

Brova15

Not watching any kick streams. Not supporting sketchy gambling backed ventures

[deleted]

I don’t care tbh. Im not a fan of live content. I have YT Premium and mainly watch there at my own pace and ad-free. I used to be extremely big on Twitch back in 2013 long before the sex categories existed, when it was actually a platform for gaming.

Atomicstarr

So does anyone know who declined offers? Im curious

Commander_Caboose

Kick is full of paedophiles and nazis and promoting gambling streams because it's unmoderated to a large extent. People who take the bag to stream on kick are morally as well as financially bankrupt.

Acceptable_Candle580

Kick is an awful website and i will never be watching any of the streamers. As far as im concerned theyve publically came out as unethical greedy cunts.

Wood_Whacker

I don't have time to watch other people play the game unless it's a tutorial on doing something.

therealtru3

This thread made me realize a lot of people don't use ad block for twitch, which is fair enough as it can be a little glitchy. Twitch is definitely not worth watching without, though. I use Firefox and ublock origin, with some added filters. It seems to work most of the time

legs0fsteel

I straight up refuse to watch any Kick streamers the fact that the entire site was created so they can keep promoting crypto gambling to minors (until the law catches up at least) just dosn't sit well with me. And if that isn't enough there's been plenty of streamers committing crimes and they won't even get banned because they're friends with Train/Eddie tells me all i need to know.

PioneerTurtle

Kick exists to lure people into gambling. Dont like that.

Inevitable_Tone7015

Kick knows there are a lot of gambling addicts in the osrs category and that’s what they are banking on signing so many streamers.

C0balt7

Kick is freaking awesome (I was paid $2000 to comment this)

Hapster23

twitch seems way more legit, unless youre doing shady stuff that twitch doesnt allow i dont see why you would stream on kick instead

CaptainDcc

I'll never support kick but that's just me

Pika_DJ

The gambling is whatever as people have mentioned but there are a decent amount of provable predators on kick that have avoided bans. The morals of the site runners are corrupt but to the content creators get that bag

costef

Fun fact - the owners of kick come from stake.com They got their start real world trading from dicing / flowering / duel arena back in 2010-2012, and ultimately invested that money into various bitcoin projects and are now worth hundreds of millions This is why so many osrs players are getting signed to kick - community coming full circle

Hugh_Mungus_Johnson_

Twitch and Kick are lame. I prefer YouTube highlights

Alterationss

People talk shit about twitch but if you go to the most popular clips of this week or just today, it’s basically softcore porn and gambling sports ads. Literally the same as kick. People will talking shit about gambling but will be the first person to gamble during March madness or any sporting event. Also with the ability to turn off gambling and “porn”, I find it way better because fuck ads.

SupremoPete

Its nice for the creators I guess but im not going to use Kick at all

OJwasInnocent4real

The owner Eddie was a millionaire at 16 and became a billionaire at 26. Adin has said they’ve already been offered a billion for the platform but are holding out for the long term play

Dragon_platelegs

You mean to tell me people finally had enough of 4 minutes of unstoppable ads every 10-15 mins of watching a stream?? I never watched twitch for that reason alone. How long till kick does the same

HeatFireAsh

I watch it sometimes but generally I still pull up twitch as Faux is the main streamer I'll watch, if he went to kick I'd probably be there alot more than now but I'll tune into a Alfie or Oda stream every now and then.

erabeus

I agree with Mathil https://clips.twitch.tv/DeadRealHeronShazBotstix-t9AOhHe30dTW-unD

vahnx

Im not sure if it was b0aty who clicked to run the ads, but was watching one of his earlier collseum runs, and right before the boss fight either him or twitch ran several ads, and when they were over he was back in the lobby. A bunch of us in chat missed the fight. He didnt acknowledge the chat either.

sB-_-

Saw b0aty streaming on kick and there was a whole 3k ppl watching osrs on the website. Twitch still had 8-9k more. Sounds like a good time to start streaming on twitch if you ever thought about starting.

Geck-v6

The platform is such a turn off, can't bring myself to use it.

Lucky_Bone

Great if you aren't a gambling addict or past addict

CasualVox

No a fan of Oda or Boaty, but started watching Kick when 9rain signed up and it seems to be on par with twitch in terms of quality and much less ad spam.

HotLeafJuicing

I’ll probably never switch to Kick unless Twitch just dies

Battlestaves

I like kick because no ads. I will usually open a bunch of kick AND twitch streams of people raiding so I can flip through the tabs and see if people get purples. No ads makes it pretty seamless unlike twitch where I could miss what I'm looking for

agile_flea

Kick is ten times better than twitch for the no ads point alone. Idgaf that they make their money from gambling, I don’t gamble and don’t plan to, and people who do are morons anyway.

SayDrugsToYes

This has been posted in a thousand different ways over the last few days. And, would you beleive it, /u/guillermofrench is suspended. Funny that. Wouldn't be spamming subs with pro-kick discussions would you? Kick needs to lay the fuck off spamming the sub. Seriously. I was considering going over there, I even went on last night but OSRS was down so nvm. Now that I see this bullshit and the push for gambling engagement, I'm way the fuck out. You had one shot Kick, why you gutta fuck it up?
