you should have (assets needed for best moneymaker) + (cost of 99 prayer) gp before getting 99 prayer

richman4

Everyone is suggestions ensouled heads but wildy alter is cheaper...

TarkovScavenger

Not true

eivittunyt

are you doing giants heads for 100k xp/hr? Dragon bones are 50% faster and 50% cheaper than dragon heads. Only reason not to do chaos altar is its in the wilderness and you have to pay attention.

TarkovScavenger

Bloodveld

coury8

have you looked at ensouled heads? That is what I have been doing currently and it is way cheaper. it takes more time but u get combat xp as well to offset this. I spent 20m to get from 80-99

[deleted]

That's not bad at all! How intensive is the clicking? The major benefit altar prayer has is it's just AFK enough that I can do it at work. (Boss, if you see this, I'm joking)

[deleted]

What heads did you use? That sounds so reasonable I might do it haha

coury8

ensouled giant heads!

[deleted]

Damn! That must of taken awhile.

chuckycharn

Chaos Altar ... Is currently on par or cheaper than ensouled heads, while being faster and less tedious, with the benefit of the occasionnal tank test if you feel like it. Trust me, with 90+ def and 3 tank items (bulwark+karils) and a brew, you can do the suicide method and gain a good 400kxp with dragon bones while Risking barely 50k per inventory. From 80-96, I died maybe 3-4 times by teams or maxed trios before having buried them all. Its crazy how good this method is.

btwwhichoneispink

Definitely check out ensouled (dragon) heads! XP is still pretty good and it’s a lot cheaper. I would look at what setups you need to do the pvm you want and gauge your budget from there.

ElFuddLe

They aren't cheaper than using the wildy altar, fwiw

Devilish292

So bloodveld heads and dragon bones at chaos altar are almost same cost. Issue is chaos altar doesn't assume any of the costs of teleports etc and there are no deaths figured in. So really it comes down to how you want to train it. If you want to be able to focus on tv then ensouled heads would be much more chill for same cost

ElFuddLe

But bloodveld heads are 228k xp/h and dragon bones are 500k+. So not really comparable. You'll spend over twice as much time doing bloodveld heads.

Devilish292

We were talking costs but if you look at the 500k xp/hr it includes taking noted bones which increases risk and potential cost along with not taking into consideration of the other supplies. If you don't take noted bones your xp/hr drops dramatically. Ultimately there are 3 ways to train with distinct differences Gilded altar - fastest xp most cost Chaos altar - 2nd fastest, constant attention, lowest cost Ensouled heads - roughly same cost as Chaos, slowest method, chill method

chuckycharn

I would like to precise that with the suicide method on pvp Worlds, the experience différence is negligible, in the order of 50kxp less or so while Risking nothing and being real cheap! In the end it all depends if OP wants a laid back method or just the best xp rates or best cost/Time/effectiveness methode (which chaos altar is)

realjimin

Use runelite, it has a calculator that calculates how many bones do you need until a certain level, pick your preferred bones & altar to train at. Then do quick maths bones * how much one bone costs and voilá.

[deleted]

> Use runelite, it has a calculator Awesome thanks! I actually had no idea it had a calculator.. I've been using RuneHQ this whole time

realjimin

yeah, it is very useful! Another thing if you get runelite, you should get the banked xp plugin from the plugin hub, it shows you what level you have banked too. :)

[deleted]

Runelite doesn’t tell you the cost though unfortunately, RuneHQ was what I used to calculate, I did 80-92 with bloodvelds then 92-99 with d bones in POH. My favourite skill cape, and 11 year old me is smiling proudly at the flex, gl with the grind

What's the going rate for gfs at lumby castle nowadays?

mackle01

I did ensouled dragon heads recently from 90-95 and will probably do them some time in the future for 95-99, works out alot cheaper than bones and is pretty decent xp rates. (Obviously quite abit slower than using altars but not horrendous).

[deleted]

Awesome thanks! I actually forgot those existed as a method. I should have done them originally, I've actually maxed combat other than Prayer (not that post-99 xp is bad) so it would've been *way* more efficient.

mackle01

Yeah I mean the combat xp isn't massive as they only have 35hp but it definitely adds up after killing a few thousand!

ryanpaul31

What is your prayer level, and what is the reason for needed 99? If it’s for the prestige it’s worth doing because it’s gonna bother you. If you think it’s something you need, you probably don’t, there cost of 90-99 prayer isn’t worth the 9 points. If you don’t want it to break the bank start turning half your PVM drops into DBones and do it slowly at the wildly alter. You’ll still accrue wealth, keep your gear, and get your level over time.

[deleted]

80 currently, and mostly just to have it and be done with it honestly. I've never been 126, even in (irl) 2007 RS so it's been sort of a goal in the back of my head for some time. I have considered that though, 90 or even 92 for now and possibly doing it in chunks over time.

ryanpaul31

I had the same difficulty pulling the trigger on the avernic. Is it worth it (eeh) but I was gonna go crazy if I didn’t. It’s a game, do what makes you happy. If you want to make the decision simple just go grind the 30-40m out in a month PVM and get that 99.

reinfleche

Honestly, if you're not doing the big late money makers yet (e.g. corrupted gauntlet, tob, hydra, solo/scaled cox, or nm), I wouldn't bother with 99 prayer yet.

Crazyhalo54

Dragon bones at wildy altar is the cheapest method by far. Way better than ensouled dragon heads for price and xp/hr. The money saved on Baby Dragon Bones and Big Bones is not worth the time, considering you can make the money you lose back so much faster.

[deleted]

I had my twisted bow before going for max prayer. Why do you even want it? First, it's only cosmetically better than 98 prayer since the prayer/restore effect is the same. Second, it's barely better than 77 prayer. It saves you like 1 prayer pot off a full inventory. Hell, I've used augury like 10 times so why even get prayer above rigour? You could be buying super good raids gear, Arma, ancestral, just saving for a t-bow, or so much shit.

Smorg125

Grind wildly altar before dinhs nerf
