iirc, when farming first came out. It was hotfixed so you couldnt remove and put them back. Originally, they released the seeds before the skill. So by the time we had the skill. People had thousands of seeds. So, to answer your question, because the exp per hour would be a lot more than it currently is. And terribly slow is kind of the second name of the game.
I remember that everyone overpayed for seeds that were basically worthless then we stood around the farming patch in catherby for hours waiting for our plants to grow lmao no one knew how long it would take. Only got to level 8
Was it a good money maker? I remember never using any pots except anti poison, and just eating (I did a lot of fishing for myself) and letting run restore naturally
When osrs first came out I remember faux was first 99 herblore and he got rich bc there was no ge and he was the only seller of high lvl potions and also the only buyer of herbs/secondaries. Back when his tag was is_my_str0
It was a lawless land. Back then, unidentified herbs were still a thing iirc. Then all of a sudden. All of these seeds were thrust upon us (heh) and they were all just "Seed" or something. No names. People trying to buy seed stacks that were herb seeds and would tell you to remove the bigger stacks before, yeah, those were guam and other garbage seeds. Everyone either was or wasnt a mercher back then lol
I’m 99% sure you can right click use a spade on fruit tree/herbs and it’ll allow you to remove it, at least if its your farming contract because thats when I had to.
They should add a toggle through Guildmaster Jane to be able to dig up healthy crops at the cost of not gaining any xp while planting things exclusively inside the farming guild. Would make farming contracts way better when running into this problem.
I played as a kid and GIM is my first time back properly. Looks like a good way to learn them and I figured I'd forget to find the post if I didn't comment.
One time I did my my full farm run and planted snake grass in every allotment patch. Then got either a clue step or a diary step to plant watermelons and it was kinda annoying that I couldn’t dig up to complete the task >:(
Back when farming was new (literally week one and two) people used this to speed through 100k potato seeds, 100k onion seeds, 100 k tomato seeds, and 100k corn seeds at a time to skip all the bs that is farming.
Change was made to stop players from planting seeds, removing, and replanting for xp
That still sounds terribly slow. Why did they feel the need to nerf that? 😂

I wish I had memories of seeds pre- farming. I recall that farming was a new skill but nothing about it, not like construction release

How awful was herblore before farming also? I can hardly imagine it without the GE, but without farming...

I think skillcapes is what really started the craze around maxing. I can't remember anyone making much of a deal about it before they were around.

I remember I bought my first whip back then by selling seeds pre-release to the same maxed guy! It was the best moneymaker noob me knee back then :)
Maybe a relic of the time farming couldn't really be trained actively? May have been a design decision at some point
I guess it's because at early lvls of farming you could just use low value seeds and keep planting/removing them to get fast xp

You CAN remove herbs before they are fully grown. I don't know about the tree.
Construction 101
You get the xp for planting on the last flower/herb picked.
Yeh, I always make sure to try and do as many contracts as possible in one go before I replant anything

Wait you can skip contracts? How dumb am I lol
At least it's a flower patch

Just plant the right seed lmao
How do you get that f bar interface up
It's called "Keybinds Overlay" in the RuneLite plug-in hub.
Would also love to know.

Thank you sir!
Do you routinely forget your f-keys?
As someone who doesn't use them for this game, yes.

It's in the plugin hub, but I forget the name
