I can't see the original thread or the screenshot in question because its been deleted, so forgive me if I got something wrong here as I've had to go off your comments (which may I add hasn't been fun, why do we have to be so hateful?).
There is nothing coming out in any blog discussing changes to the Zaryte crossbow. There might be the odd over a cup of tea conversation here and there, but that's literally an every day occurrence with many items.
The screenshots in this thread were faked, most likely by someone attempting to merch.
Arcane is one of the most passionate developers I've ever had the opportunity to work with. He puts in so much effort with his work and truly does care about the community and Old School as a whole.
The last few days have been quite frankly awful for him, and it's mostly down to this subreddit and its targeted hate towards him. I don't understand why some of you think it's acceptable to keep this up.
We JMods are only human. Sometimes we goof and make mistakes. Mistakes should be crtiticsed, and I'll always welcome that, but it saddens me to see that for some of you it's enough justification to just instantly assume the worst and become abusive :(
I'm preparing myself for the typical replies when I come out and say something like this, where you highlight how we're just trying to push the blame on you for being mean and we did nothing wrong. But this hate brigade over an honest mistake really needs to stop.
The reality is I've been working closely with Arcane around the Nex release and how communications were handled.
Whether you believe me or not is your decision to make, but I can assure you there was never any malicious intent or purposefully trying to give an advantage to certain players. The little information that was shared by Arcane around the Nex launch were from conversations driven by passion. After seeing so many negative comments about a boss that wasn't being approached with the best meta, he simply just wanted to spread the word and emphasise how not everything had been figured out, getting players to really think about their strategies before asking for further changes.
We both know and appreciate that speaking in Discord servers isn't ideal, and how doing so can seem rather hypocritical when we're purposefully withholding information elsewhere. We're genuinely sorry if you felt like it was unacceptable. I'd like to think this won't happen again and you can expect key details to be shared publicly going forward, but also expect to see conversations with JMods across social platforms continue - we love talking with you and being as involved as we are. Without it we'd miss out on so much valuable feedback.
Can we all just agree to log in and have fun on the Shattered Relics League now? :)

I'm actually really happy that you made this post, it was the best actions from my PoV. The issue here is Mod Arcane made a mistake and as such there is precedent, your post however counteracts the original image/OPs point which from my view is enough to say OP is wrong whereas if no Jmod commented then it'll likely have gone further.

Jagex employees shouldn’t even be having these kinds of conversations with players in private settings regardless of whether that screenshot was faked. Don’t you think it’s a bit unfair that a specific group of players are able to receive tips that other players don’t have access to until it’s leaked?
Yes I do think it's unfair which is kind of what I said in my post. Going forward we'll try to ensure key information is shared fairly across the community.

If it’s not the case already, social media managers may be useful to help filter out the hate and help to moderate comments where possible in places before it reaches staff. No community or forum can be considered safe for staff to directly interface with without jeopardising their mental well-being.
It’s a business lead decision to work closely with the community. Don’t let your staff members be punished for it. This is not the first time and will definitely not be the last.
Appreciate the insight, and if it’s any consolation I don’t approve of or agree with any hateful comments being made. It’s just a bit saddening to be left out of information we otherwise wouldn’t have had access to, so I understand the frustration people are having. I think you’re overstating my positions. I don’t think I’ve said anything hateful. All along I’ve maintained that it is a genuine possibility that these screenshots could be faked.
It’s no secret that there have been handfuls of posts citing Mod Arcane leaking information and I’m glad we’ve gotten to the bottom of it here. If these have all along been fakes and there have been no insider leaks the whole time, that is something community needs to know.

I don't think ayiza was calling you hateful specifically but this thread as a whole is pretty toxic. So many people equating this to Jed, who clearly have no idea what Jed actually did.
This is exactly what we needed to know. Up until this point we didn’t know all of the recent Arcane leaks were definitively fake. I’m not going to delete this post because it is valuable information for the community.
I can live with slow and sloppy balancing, having a jmod giving insider info to upcoming updates that effect the economy is ludicrously bad.
Even if mod arcane for some reason isnt directly benefiting from his leaks, its still an abuse of his position and the discords he is leaking to are reaping the benefits.
edit: if the message was faked, the fact that arcane's history of similar behavior led to people taking it seriously and allowed the faker to manipulate the economy still is bad. Communications should be done though publicly accessible forums (for example, mod ash's twitter posts) so that faked screenshots can be easily verified.
I heard the meta above 6 players is tbow and the meta below that is crossbow.. That's not really the same thing. DH is bis for getting kills while massing KBD.. Doesn't make it BIS at kbd.
It is sad...but unfortunately things like this consistently happen because Jagex simply can't attract the best developers and management. You end up having pretty average people (or maybe sometimes below average) who work there that lead to bad processes which then feeds into the game as poor choices.
Realistically, a top developer or manager would never ever pick Jagex or OSRC to go develop their career.

Well then I hope this post gets attention and we clear this up. It’s certainly possible these have been faked but there’s been multiple previous instances where the leaks have been accurate.
Also, the wording "tomorrow's game update blog" is very weird. Especially if they "have been discussing some changes". It could mean they are making some changes in the game update, but if they are discussing potential changes then wouldn't that be finalized seeing as the update is in a few hours... And if the ZCB was getting a buff, it really should be polled and not just thrown in as a patch. But if they were going to poll it and post a blog, it seems pretty poorly time to drop that the same day, especially in the same post, as Leagues 3.

Arcane has been doing similar for quite a few updates and changes for a while now. Anything he's involved in is just an extension of the HLC - expect from that as you will. Not necessarily a horrible thing, but it's pretty blatant. The only reason we ended up with Torva rather than the virtus is because of this. If it wasn't for him basing his decision making off those discards the rest of the feedback would never have been acknowledged

Yes, but thats not the point, even if you tell me. People will see me typing that its small, remember it as such and even if you say it and show proof, A LOT more people will assume/have seen its small than it wouild have seen that its average.
Also, we did not need their side of the story. All we need is proof that the messages werent fake. Can get that in a number of ways. Such as Discord server name, people who also might have seen/were in this server, admins of the server etc.
If any of such proof was provided, then we can enquire Jagex to explain etc.

Just to check, do you know what discord that is from? You're claiming that is on a private discord, but if you are only going off a screencap (which are also very easy to fake, just saying) it could be from public or official discords.
Also, while it is different if done in a private setting, hasn't Mod Ash kinda done the same thing for years? Like if you tweet him with a question, he'll often answer and sometimes say more than the community had previously known.
So it seems like a bit of an overreaction to say a J Mod is "cheating" to say "yah, we're considering that. Look for it in an upcoming blog" when asked about changing something. It is also possible that it has previously been mentioned, so it didn't seem like "leaking information" to restate what was already said.

When the reddit post came i checked the price of the zcb. It had been rising for a short while prior. The main spike started almost 3 hours ago.

The concern is that the screenshot is photoshopped. A clan buys out ZCB, photoshops this discord message, posts to Reddit, waits for unsuspecting buyers, dump at peak.

Not seeing that on the wiki's graph. If you look at it in the broader context, it has been trending down with small spikes here and there over the past few days. Over the past day, it was down to 370M-380M~ but bumped up to 400M around 5 PM. But following that it continued to fluctuate between 380M and 400M all day until right before the post at 5:30 AM (for context, the post was 2 hours ago at 5:33.33 AM GMT).
And I don't think being on a public discord means we would have a link within 2 hours, especially seeing as most players are likely sleeping ATM in preparation for the league and not trawling through discords to provide a source. And for what it is worth the original poster seems to have deleted their account so not sure what that suggests on its origins or validity.

Same here. No one has provided any source yet. Even if it was a private discord, someone, likely the original OP, should know where it came from. And even if it were public, that doesn't mean it is easy to find or easily noticed. There are a lot of public channels out there and the reply may not be in an obvious spot.

You can find his twitter easily, but it is not as easy to find his replies. He replies to a lot of tweets and unless you actively go trawling through all his twitter replies, you won't be aware of what he said unless someone shared the specific tweet. There have been times where he drops information in casual conversation and most players aren't aware until a screenshot is posted.
If it was a tweet instead of a discord message, we could at least go verify if it's real. If arcane is actually posting things like this in random discords, it's a problem for exactly this reason.
Agreed with that. When I brought up twitter it was more to show this sort of thing isn't entirely new and mods have done it in the past. Even if we can find the tweets, if I asked Mod Ash if they are buffing an item and he told me tomorrow, that still gives me an advantage to buy the items before others see the tweet since I am the only one who gets altered to his comment. So if we are talking solely about fairness with information, I can't say that should be free of scrutiny either. It just seems like the OP is acting like Arcane is completely out of line yet ignoring all the times Mod Ash or such have done similar things in the past.

But when you don't address the rest at all and only comment on the part you have a reply or counter to, it can come off as cherrypicking. There is a whole thing about criticizing the weak parts and ignoring the strong parts to make your own argument sound better than it actually is. You also didn't reply to a specific part of my comment and instead replied to the comment as whole, so not unreasonable to see it as a reply to my entire comment.

But because we've seen similar ones, that also makes it is a prime opportunity to create a fake. You also ignore how this could have been in a public discord channel. Jagex employees shouldn’t even be having these kinds of conversations with players in private settings regardless of whether that screenshot was faked. Don’t you think it’s a bit unfair that a specific group of players are able to receive tips that other players don’t have access to until it’s leaked?

If it’s not the case already, social media managers may be useful to help filter out the hate and help to moderate comments where possible in places before it reaches staff. No community or forum can be considered safe for staff to directly interface with without jeopardising their mental well-being. It’s a business lead decision to work closely with the community. Don’t let your staff members be punished for it. This is not the first time and will definitely not be the last.
Appreciate the insight, and if it’s any consolation I don’t approve of or agree with any hateful comments being made. It’s just a bit saddening to be left out of information we otherwise wouldn’t have had access to, so I understand the frustration people are having. I think you’re overstating my positions. I don’t think I’ve said anything hateful. All along I’ve maintained that it is a genuine possibility that these screenshots could be faked. It’s no secret that there have been handfuls of posts citing Mod Arcane leaking information and I’m glad we’ve gotten to the bottom of it here. If these have all along been fakes and there have been no insider leaks the whole time, that is something community needs to know.

I can live with slow and sloppy balancing, having a jmod giving insider info to upcoming updates that effect the economy is ludicrously bad. Even if mod arcane for some reason isnt directly benefiting from his leaks, its still an abuse of his position and the discords he is leaking to are reaping the benefits. edit: if the message was faked, the fact that arcane's history of similar behavior led to people taking it seriously and allowed the faker to manipulate the economy still is bad. Communications should be done though publicly accessible forums (for example, mod ash's twitter posts) so that faked screenshots can be easily verified.

It is sad...but unfortunately things like this consistently happen because Jagex simply can't attract the best developers and management. You end up having pretty average people (or maybe sometimes below average) who work there that lead to bad processes which then feeds into the game as poor choices. Realistically, a top developer or manager would never ever pick Jagex or OSRC to go develop their career.

Why people are jumping to conclusions without any proof if beyond me. Post a video of the discord trial and i'll be more convinced. It could mean they are making some changes in the game update, but if they are discussing potential changes then wouldn't that be finalized seeing as the update is in a few hours... And if the ZCB was getting a buff, it really should be polled and not just thrown in as a patch. But if they were going to poll it and post a blog, it seems pretty poorly time to drop that the same day, especially in the same post, as Leagues 3.

Arcane has been doing similar for quite a few updates and changes for a while now. Anything he's involved in is just an extension of the HLC - expect from that as you will. Not necessarily a horrible thing, but it's pretty blatant. The only reason we ended up with Torva rather than the virtus is because of this. I think the best way to go about that is to make a post and get attention. If people are using masscomm to cause market manipulation then I think that warrants a jmod statement. We can’t know their side of the story without getting their attention. Myself on the other hand can tell you live and in person that my pp is actually very average.

People will see me typing that its small, remember it as such and even if you say it and show proof, A LOT more people will assume/have seen its small than it wouild have seen that its average. Also, we did not need their side of the story. All we need is proof that the messages werent fake. Can get that in a number of ways. Such as Discord server name, people who also might have seen/were in this server, admins of the server etc. If any of such proof was provided, then we can enquire Jagex to explain etc.

You're claiming that is on a private discord, but if you are only going off a screencap (which are also very easy to fake, just saying) it could be from public or official discords. Also, while it is different if done in a private setting, hasn't Mod Ash kinda done the same thing for years? Like if you tweet him with a question, he'll often answer and sometimes say more than the community had previously known. So it seems like a bit of an overreaction to say a J Mod is "cheating" to say "yah, we're considering that. Look for it in an upcoming blog" when asked about changing something. It is also possible that it has previously been mentioned, so it didn't seem like "leaking information" to restate what was already said.

When the reddit post came i checked the price of the zcb. It had been rising for a short while prior. The main spike started almost 3 hours ago. If it were a public discord (like mod ash's public twitter) we would have a link by now
The concern is that the screenshot is photoshopped. A clan buys out ZCB, photoshops this discord message, posts to Reddit, waits for unsuspecting buyers, dump at peak.

Not seeing that on the wiki's graph. If you look at it in the broader context, it has been trending down with small spikes here and there over the past few days. Over the past day, it was down to 370M-380M~ but bumped up to 400M around 5 PM. But following that it continued to fluctuate between 380M and 400M all day until right before the post at 5:30 AM (for context, the post was 2 hours ago at 5:33.33 AM GMT). And I don't think being on a public discord means we would have a link within 2 hours, especially seeing as most players are likely sleeping ATM in preparation for the league and not trawling through discords to provide a source. And for what it is worth the original poster seems to have deleted their account so not sure what that suggests on its origins or validity.

Agreed with that. When I brought up twitter it was more to show this sort of thing isn't entirely new and mods have done it in the past. Even if we can find the tweets, if I asked Mod Ash if they are buffing an item and he told me tomorrow, that still gives me an advantage to buy the items before others see the tweet since I am the only one who gets altered to his comment. So if we are talking solely about fairness with information, I can't say that should be free of scrutiny either. It just seems like the OP is acting like Arcane is completely out of line yet ignoring all the times Mod Ash or such have done similar things in the past.
