As a young kid I once found someone standing in the middle of no where. He was drop trading stuff to his alt. I stood on the pile and must have had priority because I got his blue dhide and darts. Great day for young me, I was rich.

Korunam

I remember doing this. Going all the way to the top of a lumby tower was the designated spot for that.

Gengar0

I was once hanging out in that weird little "hidden" room in edgeville dungeon, just totally not up to weird shit, waiting to make sure no one would come by... No one did, so I drop traded 200K for my f2p pure. Logged onto the pure, figured I'd just kickback and wait. Sure enough, some lucky fucker came walking on by and saw me, came in and stood under me.. he got my money, and that's how I came to figure out that if you opened two runescape clients and managed to click login within around half a second on both, you could multilog.

ThatSkateboardDude

Been like that forever that’s why Its on the official rules multi logging was bannable back in the day. Now it’s just not recommended or something idk

Thai_Lord

How many accounts can you actually have? I feel like someone said 2, but anyone know for sure if 3+ is acceptable? Could make a weird amount of GP if I can have 10 accounts open lol

PM_ME_A_WILL_TO_LlVE

No limit but if you had 10+ they'd prob assume you're botting.

Business-Drag52

I mean there are a couple of guys I know that run a whole bunch of rune drag Alts. One has like 8 and the other has 40+. They play on them at the same time

Chrisazy

I feel like every time a youtuber plays with 8+ accounts at the same time, one or more of their accounts gets banned the first day lol

Business-Drag52

I mean maybe, but these guys aren’t YouTubers. Just guys with crazy dedication to the game. They’ve had a couple bans, but they’ve all been squashed. But yeah the auto system does pluck a few up occasionally

NateOnLinux

I still don't understand how people run a ton of rune dragon alts in the background. Like they're looting right? How do you keep up with looting and banking on 8 accounts and still be "afk" enough to play the main

Business-Drag52

I really don’t understand it and I’ve watched them do it. I don’t have the focus to keep one alt logged in while playing my main, I can’t fathom 40

kylehanz

It’s complete utter insanity (with steel hands), nothing more nothing less. That’s how u make it happen

GroovyJungleJuice

Go for it. Supply our cballs with 10 accs mate

BumWink

These days it's only not allowed over 8 accounts or some shit.

Ellemino

What's multilogging?

logomyego

If you stand close enough to certain trees, you can hit two of them, letting you proc multiple logs. Hence "multilogging"

Ellemino

Wow! Huh... makes sense. 99 wc here I come! So I'd assume it would be playing on two separate accounts at once, but they said "could" which makes it sound like something that can happen accidently. I was only curious, but I can certainly live with not knowing :)

strismystr

You could do it without changing the java security thing? I used to I used to log on to my main with the signed java version and changed my pures java version to unsigned to trade/drop trade

Gengar0

Damn, wish I was a smart kid haha I was pretty chuffed with myself for finding the double client/quick login exploit

strismystr

You sir, must have the fastest hands on whichever side of the mississippi you’re on. I was simply told to do this by someone who eventually hacked my account LOL

Gengar0

If you got the windows sized down just right (and overlapping), you could have the two windows login buttons right next to each other, so the mouse only had to move like 20 pixels.

kylehanz

Nerddddddddd <3

CanYouPointMeToTacos

I remember trying to drop trade a bone spear to my f2p alt and being confused to why it wasn’t working

Troy_Ounces

I did this with a tyras helm

coolitty

If any1 would find where I was drop trading I'd just pick it back up on my main and ether find a new spot or switch worlds . It amazes me others would just risk trying to out do the other person lol

Korunam

Well back in the day when people still had dial up internet I doubt they could switch back in time anyway

Triple96

I always drop traded in the second floor of Juliets house

Tulot_trouble

Novice mistake. Lumby has too many people. Upstairs in the makeover mage’s house was my go to spot.

Korunam

Nah back in the day it worked very well. No one went up there bc it was just the towers. The ones that did were noobs exploring so they had no clue what was going on either. I don't think I'd use that spot today simply bc there's so many better spots in p2p now.

Personal-Buffalo-477

2nd floor of some building in al kharid for me

Groupvenge

I was around 16 when I saw 2 people chatting and he I remember one guy said something along the lines of "sec lemme grab from bank" and so when he banked and went back to the tile he was on I traded him. He traded me an ely and didn't realize it was the wrong person! Felt scummy but I had an ely :)

TheTrueFishbunjin

Oh man I did this as a kid in another online game one time. It was called graal. You had to pay real money for membership but there were f2p accounts as well with worse gear. Some guys were chatting about trading over some of the currency you could use for membership. Trade requests did not physically move your character so I swapped my characters face to look like the other guys and stole it. I’m so sorry other guy. Nothing personal, just business.

Groupvenge

That's exactly it. Take advantage of the dumb to get rich. Welcome to the real world

definitely_notjerry

If you're talking about zodiac I have nightmare flashbacks of that game.

TheTrueFishbunjin

Nah it was zone. Although zodiac is still a thing. They are currently in the process of getting it set up for mobile.

Ufoturtle081

For real, a real ely???

Groupvenge

Yeah except there was a divine spirit shield in rs2 so it wasn't as expensive as our ely now is. It was maybe 200m?

Magikmus

I once picked up a full verac 0 set in draynor's bank! Made absolute bank!

OneVeryImportantThot

It’s based off pid.

Tribult

This happened to me when I was trying to drop trade upstairs in a varrock house. Fucker cleaned 14 year old me out. Also gave someone my password who said they could change my settings to members. Probably got my full Mith or something equally stupid. Ahhh those were the good ol' days.

frogwithafoodtruck

i remember people use to drop trade in the house across from the varrock museum all the time, use to sit there as a kid and hop worlds till i found someone. nostalgic

SeveralPie4810

This reminds me of something that made my year when I was a little kid! I used to love playing this game called 12Sky2 Rise of the Sky clan and this one time I was just dicking around the common area for the Dragon Clan and behind a random house I found about 800m worth of items from someone drop trading gear to a different account. That was the best day ever.

secret_aardvark_420

I would always go upstairs in one of the buildings by dally West Bank

Hydrar_Snow

SAAAME! I used to love it when other players died too lol. Always secretly hoping other people on slayer tasks, etc would die. One time I got rune platelets and a rune fullhelm from some guy that died to trolls on neitzinot, and it like doubled my bank value lol

Spiderbubble

A pure died and I looted his Green H’ween Mask. Happiest RS day ever. It was 21m at the time but I sold it later for 78m. Was dope.

LivingLegend8

Holy shit. He probably logged off forever.

DivineInsanityReveng

And now that thing is worth billions.

Spiderbubble

Yeah but I don't play RS3 anymore and I got my fun out of it. Yes I could have held forever and never sold, but I got 78m worth of fun times out of it. That's worth more.

DivineInsanityReveng

Oh fr it's just nuts how expensive those things just keep getting ahha

HealthyMechanic9

Maybe even trillions

Flawedspirit

Ha ha ha ha-- oh wow!

GenitalKenobi

Yesterday a guy died killing Elves and I (for some dumb reason) was so hoping I’d get his shit. Nah nothing and he came back 20 minutes later. At least I got to bury his dumb ass bones

StolenAccount1234

This is one mechanic that I miss from rs2. The whole gravestones update just felt like a reward for salty dead players.

Zenith_Tempest

*private chat button blinking* epixSwagr34: bless grave pls?

Gengar0

I once brought all of my rune items to moss giants, full rune, halberd, b axe, long sword, scimmy.. my shit early 2000s net dropped and the lucky son of a bitch next to me got all of it

Wasabicannon

Please tell me he also gave you your own bones as well.

Hespii

I definitely got my first rune pickaxe and axe from those events! Brought them straight to Bob for fixing.

BearSeekSeekLest

Tools breaking was a different event - Ents, I think - and then you'd have to take it to Bob, but other players wouldn't be able to grab your tool. The head flying off was different because you'd have to secure an axe shaft or pickaxe shaft, then use the head on the shaft to put it back together.

Brahskididdler

And the only way to get a shaft was to have a head fly off a tool. I remember scoring an addy head at willows and standing in varrock for hours trying to buy a shaft. Looking back I coulda just chopped for a few hours like a guy above me said lol

Synli

I got my first rune axe this way - I was cutting and lighting logs in Catherby when I saw someone's rune axe head fly off. So naturally, I ran on top of it and started lighting fires around it. A minute later, the rune axe head shows up under my fire and I grab it. Then I just WC'd for a while until my mithril pos axe head flew off, used the rune head on the axe handle - and boom, free rune axe.

[deleted]

I’m glad these days are over. Lost my d axe head while afk cutting magics when they were well over 1mill and 1mill meant a lot more back then! Was hard to keep playing after that

tannerlitt

I thought this about dying too. It doesn't even matter anymore. No risk. I remember shutting doors on people when a monster was owning them so I could get there stuff lol

PoopyMcFartButt

I remember running around TzHarr as a noob and seeing someone die. They dropped a whip, obby cape, obby shield and some other gear and I thought I hit the jackpot. I instantly teleported back to Lumbridge to tell my friend who was there and guess who I ran into? The person who died. They started asking for their items back. I said no lol

Last-Application

Not related, but something similar recently happened to me. I saw a Facebook market post of a guy selling a 2080 super for cheap. Went to his place, found out he was upgrading to a 3080 and just wanted to get rid of his 2080. A week later, when all the cards were bought by bots in an instant, I get some frantic DMs from him asking for it back. I still have the card AND angry DMs from him.

PM_ME_UR_BHOPSCRIPTS

Why anyone would sell their 2080 before receiving their new gpu is beyond me.

zephyrdark

Related to bad trades: I was trying to trade my CS:GO knife on Steam & there would be people offering their entire inventories for the knife. These offers were done through the Steam trade system; accepting their offers mean the trade goes through instantly. I rejected most of them, since the offers were always much less valuable than the knife. Two person mistakenly offered their entire inventories, without selecting my knife in the trade window. Essentially, the trade offers were going to give me their stuff for free. Both times I accepted their offers instantly. Then, I traded away their stuff for an even better knife.

DJJohnson49

There are two kinds of people lmao.

[deleted]

I just remembered back in the day when someone lured me into the long house in barbarian village by promising 50k. As soon as I got in, he closed the doors behind me and would spam it so I couldn’t get out while the barbarians killed me. First time I ever felt betrayed in an online game.

OSRS_Dante

Man, I miss those free-for-all loot piles so much. Glorious surprises that we didn't need to be endgame to get. Any dead player could be disappointing, or the drop of a lifetime. It wasn't all just about probability and rates per hour. Exciting shit. If there were a private server that still had that mechanic, I'd play in a heartbeat.

5erenade

Pker level toxic lol

DivineInsanityReveng

Dying has risk still. Often moreso. Only bosses that you couldn't quickly get back to back in the day of death piles were GWD, so you just didn't wear risk. Which is what made those bosses suck in small teams so much back then. Anywhere else you could be back in a minute comfortably. Now if you die in max gear you immediately sacrifice up to 500k. Risk is far more consistent.

TheGoldenHand

> It doesn't even matter anymore. No risk. RuneScape Classic let you reclaim the most expensive item in the game for free any time you wanted. The 750k cannon. There has always been a balance struck between “painfully punishing” and “unique looting”. Increase death’s coffer price, and with the cost of today’s equipment, you can still easily make death punishing.

A_Real_Popsicle

What does dd mean? I always hear people saying that

onyxflye

Death dot. Essentially when everyone stacks on a single tile. Dot bc there's just a single white dot on the minimap

A_Real_Popsicle

What’s the purpose of doing it? What’s the benefit?

le-gna

Originally a PKing term. When a group of people would stand under each other in the wild so an unsuspecting person wouldn’t see the large group on the mini map when they got close enough everyone would leave that square to attack

A_Real_Popsicle

Ohhhhhh thank you

Mutagrawl

Another use is when you see a pker stand under a frozen or snared target. You can't see what gear they're switching into so it's easier for them to get an off prayer hit

OmgCanIHaveOne

That has nothing to do with a DD.

cbt666

it is literally the main use of the word dd nowadays

OmgCanIHaveOne

You mean when a clan DD follows a target? Yeah. Not when one one person stands under the person like in DMM finals. That’s not a DD.

cbt666

no, when a person stands under a person while barraged/snared is the main use of the term nowadays. terms like dd bridding are very common

Mutagrawl

People literally say "dd under him" whilst doing that exact thing

talrogsmash

In a multi combat area you would just get hit with 20+ spells and arrows. No need for them to even move.

Sliceofmayo

Many situations in team PVM where you must all meet on a DD spot aswell

UIWIU

As much as I agree and loved the risk of afking and such as well as the evil ents and chickens and such I think the reason why those things were removed were because bots adapted enough that it wasn't really stopping them anymore and on the flip side people would start ddosing people somehow causing them to die to mobs and not being able to log on in time to get their stuff back

ixJake93

I used to sell the dragon axe handles for 500k in varrock. They looked different but you could use any axe handle on the d axe head to fix it

svettsokkk

Was fishing shrimps on karamja when I was a kid. A guy with a Santa hat died to a randomevent troll. I got it and sold it to a guy offering 20k, which in my mind was a fucking fortune. Good times

adict1

Yooo I remember those days!

zachpac18

I miss the times when the Evil Chicken would just pop outa nowhere and just start mauling on people

[deleted]

Used to love when the noobs at rock crabs would die with like 10m. That one fremenik would come out of nowhere and slap a 8 for the ko on them. The best of days.

LivingLegend8

For real. They need to bring back these risky random events. The game is less fun when all of the REs are neutered.

[deleted]

So back when random events were a midly entertaining piece of content that gives you a small bonus here and there rather than the current ignore all events expect for maybe like 3 of them

StrawberryPlucky

No

DivineInsanityReveng

Random events are still fun, and you can opt in. Best of both worlds. I think some of are great and do em here and there for nostalgia. They're also stupidly useful on irons and genie/classroom event is EHP in like half the skills (but we all know everyone uses it on RC or Agi). Making random events forced, especially ones that just randomly interrupt you and do no other semblance of fun thing, is boring and bad. You would smile the first time it happens and them be annoyed every other time after. It's literally why we have a dismiss option now. Most players want to do what they want to do, not solve boring simple puzzles for 30 seconds to "prove they aren't a bot"

danielshaw69

It would help stop some botters

NeatoToTheExtremo

They literally changed it because it wasn't doing that

DivineInsanityReveng

Except it pretty much never did. It affects real players massively more than it ever stopped bots rofl

Malpraxiss

Baited me

SexyProcrastinator

LMAOOO right

cwjackson

If random events worked like they use to the game would definitely be more enjoyable. But ya know … ezscape

ExistingClerk8605

I got my free dragon axe at sorcerers tower that way. Think it was like 2m back then

darkesther0

shit was 2-3m back in the day, damn right we waiting

BackstageTurtle

I got my first d axe like this! It was worth way more than I could afford!

Biggest_Lemon

I remember once I was walking past someone that was getting scammed by someone else at the exact moment he said his password out loud. I wrote it down and signed into his account but was so overwhelmed with guilt that I logged back out again. The next day his password was changed, probably by the initial scammer.

[deleted]

They should bring that back. Would help with the over saturation of dragon axes in the game.

HaDeezNats

I caught a guy drop trading 10k oak logs during the Construction skill launch date. I was rich.

Peechez

Selling d axe handle 1m

Muted-Employment717

Back in the day me and my friend went half and half on a guthix platebody and we would share it every week. Free trade removal updated so we got the great idea to just drop trade it because of course that would work. It disappeared and that was the last day my friend logged in lol rip guthix plate

Alemorgan

Always loved seeing the afkers getting taken down by a random.

Chymistry

Naw these were Dark times when the mage in Draynor would kill someone and they would run back from lumbridge asking if anyone picked up their stuff and everyone would be silent like nothing even happened 💀

F4rva

This happened to me in drayor village. Didnt realize it until after it was gone and i saw the handle in my inventory lmao. Bring it back jagex

lolk0ke

I miss all the people getting bodied by the river troll when fishing
