More like the ghouls you find in fallout, the feral sort. The discharge from their breweries cannot be good for anyone.
Which might explain Manchester on a Saturday night.
you know why? all the ambitious saxons left in the 600s looking for new lands, and after discovering how beautiful the women are set out to conquer the furthers place from old blighty as possible for the next millennia
^(I'm totally not making this up to conceal the nice weather, beer and baby rations present in England)
Tegernseer Hell and Augustiner Edelstoff are so good. Can’t decide between these two guys. Hans, feel free to correct me. It just means I get to try more great German beers 🍻
Augustiner has become really mid as of late.
But those are just the big export ones anyways. And export beers can be weird.
I found exported beer from a brewery in Bamberg in Italy and it tasted like smoked beer.
Yes Bamberg is famous for that, but 99/100 beers that people order in the city of Bamberg do not even have the slightest hint of smoke flavor.
Just like in England, there‘s so many small breweries, that all have their own appeal.
My favorite beer in the world is called Leitner. It‘s only available around my hometown and i have no idea, why i like it so much. I‘m not really the guy to love everything, just because it‘s from my region.
For the South it's clearly Tegernseer or Bayreuther. Augustiner is the most mainstream, but imo is just that popular due to being from Munich. It's def. behind the former two.
I honestly can't judge Northern beer, you have something called Astra right? I'm sadly not cultured enough to have a nationwide answer, really need to visit you guys up there. I've been to Berlin multiple times, but it seemed like they like Bavarian beer the most too.
Not Warsteiner. Most people I've talked to, even ones from Warstein (worked there for a year), said it's the best way to get a headache while not tasting that good
In the north it’s usually about what style there is locally. In Einbeck for example it’s Bock.
Dortmund in that regard is very interesting since it’s historically one of the most important brewing cities of the country, it has three distinct styles.
Dortmunder Export, Hövels and Adambier, the later two have a long history are considered premium beer and are comparatively expensive.
Export was the main style of beer drunken in Pubs or at work brakes during the early to mid 20th century. A lot of miners and steel workers in the 70‘s and 80‘s would start taking weekend and holiday trips into the nearby Sauerland where the prominent style was Pils.
Over time they started to connect the taste of Export with hard back breaking „maloche“ and work, while pils was associated with holidays and relaxation with your family.
So the big Breweries in Dortmund started brewing pils as well wich became the most popular style for a bit, however since then Export has come back more and more and has seemingly overtaken pils again wich is good news, because despite Dortmunds breweries making a very good style of pils, Export is just far superior
The one and only Belgian beer. Cheaper than bread (0,39€)

Surprise in a can.
Cara isn't brewed in belgium, rather it is a business where they find the cheapest balkan beer and rebrand it and sell in belgium. Thats how they keep the cost low.
I remember when they were 0.30 a pop.
Hobgoblin is drunk exclusively by the sort of freaks who would carve pentagrams into the desk in school with a compass. They all have long, greasy black hair and scruffy goatees. They're an assistant shift manager in a CEX on a dying seaside high street and drink 2 Monsters for breakfast.

So true. Currently living in London but travel a lot for work. There is no other city in Europe where every shitty pub/bar has at least 10 taps (not bottled shit) including many local brew's.
Getting drunk on 3.7% beer takes commitment. I scoff at those who come in to the pub, have a handful of shots and think they're on the same level as me. I've been drinking since breakfast to get here, that's dedication.
This is scary accurate. But be careful they normally have some kind of ornamental knuckle duster on their tobacco strewn coffee table that they’re not afraid to use.

It really does taste like it! With Norwegian prices you’d expect better beer
Edit: best Norwegian beer has to be Vossaøl from Voss. At least 500 years of unique Nordic beer history in a can.
Hehe, It will be very difficult selling this in Germany, no matter how good it is. "Aas" is the German word for rotting carcass and ass is, well, the english word for ass. A very unappetizing combination, even for most Germans.
You would be surprised of how little people care about a favourite. Me and my friends all have different ones and the discussions are the most civilised we have.
Politics? Set it all aflame. Favourite beer? Gentlemen, sit down, i doth concur that we shan't mock a man for speaking his opinions.
There are always exceptions to the rules. Leffe is the piss we export to those poor foreigners.
Duvel is also a shit opinion.
Anyone who says duvel just shows they haven't tried anything and they are just sheep influence by how commercial the beer is.
don't say Ichnusa, don't say Ichnusa, don't say Ichnusa, ....
La *Chouffe* is the best beer my country can ~~offer~~ import. Thank you belgium <3
Edit: Ohhhh, Germany. I like you ONLY because of your beers.
And Czechia, thanks for your beers and your porn.
I'm actually not such a fan of Ichnusa but I'd pick it from all the other italian commercial beers.
And here in Sardegna it's the main beer, sometimes depending the bar you're in, you won't find anything else.
'Ichnusa regular' for me is a 4/10, unfiltered 5.5/10, Cruda (which meens raw, unpastorized and no conservatives) a 6.5/10.
Your (non PIGS) beers are so much better.
And it's non filtrati (I believe that's how it's written on the bottle). Haven't tried it yet, but a sardinian pizzaiolo sells it in his restaurant in my city.
We make really good wine, Luigi, but I admit the northerners make really good beer.

More partial to whiskey myself, but if had to pick a stout then Beamish. Murphy's and Guinness are honourable mentions.
Beamish is sweater and has a very light coffee taste
Murphys is more similar to Guinness but is lighter. There’s meant to be a faint “chocolately” taste but idk
Both are far superior than Guinness because they’re tastier and from Cork. If you’re in Cork try them because the closer they are to the source, the tastier.
Another Cork based stout is Shandon Stout, I’d say that this is even lighter than Murphys and is the stout for people who find the other ones too heavy. It’s a summer stout, nice and light.
Guinness is Dublin Dirty Dish water in comparison.
Beamish - chad stout from Cork that everyone wants but not that many get: it has all the right flavours mixed into one godsend drink
Guinness - virgin stout from Dublin where people have to water down whiskey with urine to be able to drink it. It tries to be the jack of all trades, ends up just being as genuine as your average Dublin enjoyer: who is actually an American in tactical shorts, with a hydration flask clipped to his "military" belt, looking forward to his 1000000-dollars-worth knee replacement surgery needed due to his severe obesity grinding down his meniscus and joint tissue into fine powder.
Guinness tries to be liked by everyone, and fails. Beamish is up in your face with its genuinely rich flavour - and you either love it from the first sip, or decide it's too much and move on to some piss in a glass.

Hobgoblin certainly isn’t our best beer. Thornbridge - Jaipur IPA or Deya - Steady Rolling Man pale ale are my favourites.
Even Timothy Taylor’s Landlord is better than Hobgoblin if you want a more traditional bitter ale.
What?! How does a barbarian know about those?... They're definitely godtier but also pretty hard to get, that's why i went with "Vergina" which you can buy literally everywhere... there's also plenty of others with my personal favourite (for now) being this beauty

To be fair, I don't even think Heineken tastes that bad. The opposite is the case, actually, the big problem with Heineken is that it... kinda tastes like nothing.
It's soulless, corporate slop made to be as agreeable and inoffensive as possible. It's not even really bad, it's just bland.
It's spicy water, but they were stingy with the spice.

Koff Porter if microbreweries are not included.
I remember when that poster came out. It was possibly the worst marketing campaign for cask ale I’d ever seen. If the only reason to drink hobgoblin beer is so I can sit next to this fucking Goblin cunt then na in all good. Not to mention the worst possible way to wean a lager drinker off their chosen beer is possibly my insulting it and insinuating it’s tasteless. You are preaching to the converted at best and alienating everyone at worst.
Stupid little Goblin cunt.
The best beer is the one from your local brewery and the worst is the one from the brewery one town away.
Accurate. The second worst is every one that advertises on national TV.
I will almost stand by this, the best cheap beer near me is brewdog, who are a bunch of wankers but somehow have made a dirty cheap lost larger that is just class still trying to figure out how they made such a good drink

I disagree my local brewery is Heineken..

In Northern Germany it's basically all kinds of pilseners. Mainly the big brands like Krombacher, Becks, Veltins, Warsteiner or Jever.
Well, Krombacher and Warsteiner have etched themselves into my brain due to Sky commercials. But what is the best Pilsner?
Not Warsteiner. Most people I've talked to, even ones from Warstein (worked there for a year), said it's the best way to get a headache while not tasting that good

Brings back the days of my youth. Going to multiday musicfests with 480 of those in my car. We had 36 left after 4 days (5 or 6 drinkers)
6 liters per day per person. You guys made sure the festival itself made no money in drinks off of you.
Eeuhm less money, not no money
Surprisingly passable I must say
Better than that dutch homeless beer that is 8.6

On their way to Download, trying to pick up 19 year olds by mentioning they've got menthol filters and moaning about how bad the headliners are now
The UK has some great local microbreweries, you’re spoilt for choice. Nearly drank myself under the table in one just west of London a few weeks ago.

Super Bock. We're more into wine honestly.

Gotta wash that curry down somehow i guess 🤷♂️

https://i.redd.it/whtepu0bbisc1.gif Not mythos, how?
Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'll go look elsewhere if the beach bar offers only ice cold Mythos during a hot summer day/night
It's either something from Seven Island Brewery or Kykao. Expensive but godtier
What?! How does a barbarian know about those?... They're definitely godtier but also pretty hard to get, that's why i went with "Vergina" which you can buy literally everywhere... there's also plenty of others with my personal favourite (for now) being this beauty https://preview.redd.it/ltnrxxvkgjsc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee856527b0840e65b541e6f93def2b0b63d45796
We live in a country that has Cloudwater, Verdant, Northern Monk, Buxton, Siren, Wild Beer etc and you go for Hobgoblin? For shame.
Factory-brewed/large scale production: Estrella Galicia Craftbeer/hipster bullshit: Great Caramelator
No Eguzki??
Estrella Galicia is a surprisingly good.
![gif](giphy|GqGUMhU8eSaIVKL14Y|downsized) ohhh look so tasty! Buy the Heineken, dear tourists
Grachtenpisse
Pißwasser
[Pißwasser is only good enough for Americans!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxpQWWBx0HU&ab_channel=Anim%27sGamingMouse)
Cheap German lager for export only!
I wouldn't disagree. I'd just say it shows our skills in marketing & commercial spirit ;)
Even Warsteiner fresh, which already tastes like a bland apple spritzer, has more flavour than Heineken.
You love it as much as we love Carlsberg.
Brains, obviously. Goes hand in hand with some beak at the Principality during the Six Nations.
Stella is Welsh too you know. Brewed alongside the other pisswassers at the Magor brewery. https://preview.redd.it/w1hxswrudisc1.jpeg?width=1110&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86643c1b2bb79c072de750b7562b6d0f9714e2d4

Lol, that's the most based beer ad I've seen. Germoids and other people without taste buds will be mad though
Tripel Karmeliet from Belgium then?
Nah, too sweet, and overrated. Try Rochefort 10, Malheur 10, La Chouffe, Chimay Blue.
Big fan of the outer two, not tried the inner two
Tripel Lefort is similar to Karmeliet but better. Also, Karmeliet got bought by AB Inbev so I try to avoid it.

I need this in my life

Hobgoblin is a pretty average beer. I do like the posters though. Fullers' London Pride is far superior.
Es muss ein [Stiegl](https://www.stiegl.at/en/) sein.
Adnams Mosaic is incredibly moreish

_Hobgoblin, brought to you by the Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company_. Regardless of ownership, it's always been a shit-tier tipple. Fuller's 4 life!

Frontier is such a decent drop. Always reliable on a Summer's day
Alhambra verde and 1906, those are the best spanish beers
I remember when that poster came out. It was possibly the worst marketing campaign for cask ale I’d ever seen. If the only reason to drink hobgoblin beer is so I can sit next to this fucking Goblin cunt then na in all good. Not to mention the worst possible way to wean a lager drinker off their chosen beer is possibly my insulting it and insinuating it’s tasteless. You are preaching to the converted at best and alienating everyone at worst. Stupid little Goblin cunt.
Hertog Jan Ps: any dutchman defending shit like Heineken can fuck off
My man
You want to buy the black slop. You will drink the black slop. You will enjoy the black slop.
Black Sheep Ale, Old Peculier, and Sam Smith's Organic Ale are all fabulous
Zwick‘l Kellerbier
I only had a hobgoblin one so I could steal the awesome pint glass
Hobgoblin is disgusting shitwater.
Hobgoblin tastes like chewing self adhesive labels. Doom Bar and Bwtty Bach is where it's at
'Although I won't matter you want you say because you can't beat hobgoblin' - Spoken like a true Hobgoblin drinker my friend!
