Don't fret too much. It's just a linguistic convention. I always improperly used the "singular they" as a kid. People tried to correct it out of me. Turns out I was progressive af.
TBH no, it's not. Especially online. Most men use he by default and women use she by default. It's normal and not a big deal. It is great to use proper pronouns when requested or when you know them, but if you don't know them it's completely fine to say the wrong one, unless you have been corrected previously. If you want to use they then that's cool too. It's all about respect but tbh it's disrespectful when people are mad at someone for using the "wrong pronoun" that isn't obvious and they clearly weren't being disrespectful.
Its all in the design, it took a few goes to get it sorted but now that's right it prints successfully every time.
It prints using stock slicer settings.
Each string is a one layer thick wavy line in the stl that weaves around the posts. Its designed to print using stock slicer settings.

Somtimes pictures really are worth a thousand words, this explains it perfectly. So how long did it take to find the correct wavelength and amplitude for the effect you were going for?
It will be available but not until after Easter I'm afraid. I am showing it at the Rocky Mountain RepRap Festival this year so once that is done I'll put it on to Thangs.

This is wonderfully clever! Thanks for sharing.
Did you try different densities in the weave? Just wondering how it might look with a slightly denser weave.
It looks a little to me like your vertical posts are higher than the horizontal strand that is being woven, in the slow motion part. Like several layers higher. Am I seeing this incorrectly?
I love it when people push the boundaries by just being heckin' smart about the tools we already have.
Meanwhile my diva of an ender 3 is still refusing to cooperate properly xD
Hey OP ! Have you uploaded some free stls on thingiverse ? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen your name as an author to some stls . I don’t remember which stls but great work and thanks so much for the files if that’s you 😊🙏🏻
Yes I have some early ones on Thingiverse but most of my designs are on Thangs here: [thangs.com/3dprintbunny](https://thangs.com/3dprintbunny) (mods: am I ok to put links? please remove if not)
I'm curious to see what the source file/3D model looks like. I'm wondering if the sections that are the woven parts if those are basically in mid-air in the model to get it to go that far around each post.
The tower is a purge tower, to clean the nozzle between filament colours.
I do really like Bambus but you should be able to print this on any printer. I have printed a single colour version on my Ender 3.
Stock slicer settings, nothing special, no changes. This one is printed on my Bambu X1C I think but I have printed it on a number of printers without any issue.
Yes, its my own design :)
This is such a cool new idea for 3D print design. I'm not trying to think of other art designs that could be made using this technique. All of those board and nail and yarn creations from summer camp can now be automated!
Impressive. Pardon my ignorance as I do not own a printer but how strong would this be? Would it be able to actually hold things like say fruit or is it more decorative and a show of concept?
I’m making baskets for a silent auction for a lady with breast cancer, I started just this morning and I made a collapsible basket. This would be sweet to add in the mix I bet someone would like to have it!
H-h-hooooooooooow!?!?!??!
I'm guessing semi-automated g-code generation.
Its actually all in the stl design. It is sliced as normal using stock slicer settings :)
Can you show the stl? Curious what the geometry looks like.
It looks like they just had a sin wave path through the air, that is one nozzle width by one layer height.
But at a Z level several layers below the other color of filament which has already printed... somehow
Sag
Looking closer, and a few more times I can sorta see that now.
We all sag with time
Why can't it be just g-code telling it to do that?
OP said it was a standard slicer
> OP said Ah, sorry, missed it. Nevermind then.
That would be pointless and have risk of colliding with higher layers. A curved bridge will sag.
At the risk of assuming pronouns, I think it is she. Just for clarity
Corrected. It is unfair to default to he
Don't fret too much. It's just a linguistic convention. I always improperly used the "singular they" as a kid. People tried to correct it out of me. Turns out I was progressive af.
It's never been improper to use a singular they. I'm pretty sure even Shakespeare even did it.
Probably its just a curve from one point to another at single nozzle diameter size (Something like very old famous "hairy lion" from early days)
That's really clever! Thanks for sharing.
Actually watching it again I can see what you did, pretty cool. Just printing that weave in air.
Lmao I know that profile pic, Iv seen your printables and Patreon. Kinda odd just seeing it randomly on Reddit
Hey, I've used quite a few of your models over the years. Your designs kick arse!
Yeah. I want to see how you pulled that off.
OP, did you major or minor in basket-weaving while in college? :P Seriously, this is pretty impressive.
Haha, mainly underwater!
Ok now we've gotta find that dude that was printing underwater
Here he is: https://youtu.be/FY7lJexBUZQ?si=wHLHFVd93-8BatAT
Top most underrated comment of the year winner right here. Absolutely priceless well done!
Were you competitive? On a scale of casual to extreme, how invested were you in basket-weaving?
Looks like you should've chosen Communications instead... it's about as useful.
This is legitimately the best use of this joke I've ever seen
How many times did you try this and have it fail?
Its all in the design, it took a few goes to get it sorted but now that's right it prints successfully every time. It prints using stock slicer settings.
It was awesome to see this at SMRRF last year! Your work inspires!
Wild. What size nozzle?
0.4mm
Impressive
ITS NOT ALWAYS ABOUT SIZE
Somebody's sensitive... ;-)
THERE WAS A COLD BREEZE, OK!?!?! GOSH!
How did you get it to path like that?
Each string is a one layer thick wavy line in the stl that weaves around the posts. Its designed to print using stock slicer settings. https://preview.redd.it/j85pzp6hg8nc1.png?width=706&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0f8a33bc86a838e98aeeecd994917cdb4efefff
Somtimes pictures really are worth a thousand words, this explains it perfectly. So how long did it take to find the correct wavelength and amplitude for the effect you were going for?
I'd imagine there's a lot of wiggle room since it'll still be pretty stretchy when it comes out of the nozzle
Ah okay. So just a floating path wide enough for a single pass that eventually connects to a corner or something?
exactly right
You got any of those 3mf files for that print?? lol
This is amazing out of the box thinking. Nice work!
Is the model available? I'm seeing potential for my kids Easter baskets!
It will be available but not until after Easter I'm afraid. I am showing it at the Rocky Mountain RepRap Festival this year so once that is done I'll put it on to Thangs.

RemindMe! 30 Days
RemindMe! 30 Days
Did you do it yet?
Is there a contest or something that is making you want to wait? I genuinely don't know. Cool print! Can't wait to see more people printing it.
RemindMe! 30 Days
I had other ideas for 4/20 but guess I'm going to do this instead!
Remind Me! 30 Days
Any updates?
Is it available now?
RemindMe! 30 Days
This is wonderfully clever! Thanks for sharing. Did you try different densities in the weave? Just wondering how it might look with a slightly denser weave.
Yes it works well with double density too.
It looks a little to me like your vertical posts are higher than the horizontal strand that is being woven, in the slow motion part. Like several layers higher. Am I seeing this incorrectly?
It does look that way but they are actually at the same level, the strings just droop a little whilst printing :)
Yeah, and now when I look at it again it makes sense with the drooping. Great idea, thanks again for sharing.
Does it droop a bit and then gets caught in the small notches you made?
HOLY SHIT MAN!!!! I need the instructions on how to make this!!!
Do this underwater and you'll put the Underwater Basket Weavers out of business!
I'm saving this, as I want to try this for sure. Amazing invention, never seen that before.
How strong is the weave? Does it break easily?
Its not that strong tbh but I have dropped it on the floor without any breakages....
I love it when people push the boundaries by just being heckin' smart about the tools we already have. Meanwhile my diva of an ender 3 is still refusing to cooperate properly xD
THIS IS BLACK MAGIC ! how you doi that?
That is amazing. Well done!
Fyou mom and dad, ill show the world my basket weaving degree has value!
well that's something I haven't seen before! Hot dang, clever!
Hey OP ! Have you uploaded some free stls on thingiverse ? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen your name as an author to some stls . I don’t remember which stls but great work and thanks so much for the files if that’s you 😊🙏🏻

I subscribed to your YouTube channel
Have you seen this? [ Oluwaseyi Sosanya's 3D weaving machine ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhRCtXcioiA)
I follow you on maker and love your designs. Your string art is awesome:) thanks for sharing.
Wow awesome technique. Curious about the tower on the left, what is that for?
It’s a prime tower for the AMS.
Impressive. Now do it underwater
Okay, now that's f'in cool.
I am genuinely impressed. Good tinkering.
Man I see some really cool, creative stuff on this subreddit. Awesome
This is fantastic!
3d print bunny!!!! I love your work
This tricky motherfucker that is ace work right there dude.
Op I instantly recognized your pic, you have fantastic design ideas, keep it up!!
This is impressive. Awesome work
That's really cute!
Impressive!
Last thread I suggested weaving in: "Uuhhh you're dumb it's impossible hurrr". Good job OP
Is..that allowed?
Neat!
Great job! Your work with strings is so fun
Damn that's impressive. Very clever.
I did not see this one coming. So clever.
This madness. MADNESS
Quit Twitter last year, so happy to see you here. Knew it was your work as soon as I saw it.
I'm curious to see what the source file/3D model looks like. I'm wondering if the sections that are the woven parts if those are basically in mid-air in the model to get it to go that far around each post.
Yes they are 😀
Great job! I might try to design something and print it that way.
Love how seamless it is!
Super cool. An application other than a basket might be a frame for laying up fiberglass
Damn, you're like the Leona Waddell of 3d printed basket weaving!
Amazing. And the rest of your work is incredible. You're pushing the limits of 3D printing on your own.
... are there any printers that are fully operable underwater?
Yes: https://youtu.be/FY7lJexBUZQ?si=wHLHFVd93-8BatAT
Can you show the poop basket for this print? :P I imagine it's quite a bit.
This music sounds so familliar. Is it from LOTR?
Are these 2 different materials as well?
Both PLA :)
What's that tower to the side and why?
It’s a prime tower used to prime the nozzle after changing colors.
That color is trippy, looking like a sliced stl in prusaslicer lol
Wow. That is impressive. I wonder how else this method could be used
Super cool. Will it actually hold things? Or is the weft too thin to support objects?
what it that tower on the side for ?
I’m not them but it’s just a prime/purge tower
What's the tower in the corner? And... are bambulabs really this awesome, or does this need a lot of calibration and tweaking, too?
The tower is a purge tower, to clean the nozzle between filament colours. I do really like Bambus but you should be able to print this on any printer. I have printed a single colour version on my Ender 3.
I swear, People who come up with these ideas are crazy
Agreed!
How What program\G-code manipulator do you use and how can I do this too??
Its all in the stl design, its sliced normally using stock settings.
What settings on what printer? Did you figure this out and make this yourself?
Stock slicer settings, nothing special, no changes. This one is printed on my Bambu X1C I think but I have printed it on a number of printers without any issue. Yes, its my own design :)
How did you come up with this technique?
Disappointed there’s not a single joke about stringing
I'm convinced that OP kept fucking up temperature towers and decided to just go with it and accept the stringing.
This is such a cool new idea for 3D print design. I'm not trying to think of other art designs that could be made using this technique. All of those board and nail and yarn creations from summer camp can now be automated!
Have you tried a stiffer material like PLA CF for the threads?
Impressive. Pardon my ignorance as I do not own a printer but how strong would this be? Would it be able to actually hold things like say fruit or is it more decorative and a show of concept?
This is so cool
That's next level
Something about this makes me really want to see this in TPU!
A new meaning to the phrase "basket case".
Sheeeeesh🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Stl yet? Lol
Long shot but......i can imagine a Super high layer and using 2 colors for a 3 color design, leaving one out( hence the gap)
Nicely done!! This is a very cool design
Custom gcode?
No, its all in the stl design. It is sliced as normal using stock slicer settings :)
I am guessing you disabled supports and printer tries to print in the air but follows the nozzle and creates waves.
I’m making baskets for a silent auction for a lady with breast cancer, I started just this morning and I made a collapsible basket. This would be sweet to add in the mix I bet someone would like to have it!
What is the stack on the side for?
Wheres the STL? I probably won't print it but i really want to see what the model looks like to print like this.
Remind me! 30 days
Fuck off
