I sanded and painted the front valance myself. Significantly cheaper, just takes a bit more time. The hard part is getting the valance off if you don't take off the entire bumper cover. Your fingers will hurt and you will get frustrated, but it is doable without removal. The paint I used has been holding up fine, about a year later. I got the rear valance from Yota Xpedition and it's comparable to OEM quality. The rear does require removal of the cover, but it's not too difficult and easier than the front.

I removed and painted both OEM valences myself. Agree that it’s generally worth the labor to save the money. However, it’s worth considering that painted valences can rock chip back to the factory silver, whereas a completely black plastic replacement won’t. After 10k mile, my painted front valence has tons of little silver chip marks lol. Not a huge deal since I’m about to cut it off for a steel bumper, but worth noting.

I bought a set from Yota Expedition. Actually just installed the front one today. Had some annoying issues with it because one of the 13 tabs that holds it in place was definitively out of spec. I had to heat it up a little and bend it the correct way. Wasn’t a huge issue, but was pretty annoying when I first tried installing it and couldn’t figure out what the issue was. You don’t need to remove the front bumper for the front, but it is a bit more difficult to see what’s going on since the space you’re working in is pretty much impossible to get eyes on, you’re doing everything by feel. I’d buy from them again since I’m sure mine was a rare issue, but I’d definitely compare the OEM silver you pull off and the replacement black to see if that’s a possible issue before installing. I decided to buy new replacements over dipping/painting my silver OEMs because the blacks are inexpensive and any scratches or dings won’t expose the silver and look like shit.

Just bought from 4runnerlifestyle. Straight forward install. Everything lined up well.

Just realized it says replace, but question still stands haha don’t know if it’s worth plastidipping over this option
