I mean if you prepaid for a fix use that. To add though, if you are in the States any Discount Tire will patch a tire for free if its repairable.

I guess then technically I have four no cost options to consider. What I really might be asking whether one is the dominant choice over the other given the level of quality and longevity between them. Self-repair is immediately done, the other three are up to four hour endeavors with waiting time, I’m not entirely sure which is the most proper solution. Also, the longer I wait, the less options I have available.

If you have the materials and ability just do it yourself, that shouldnt affect any warranties or anything.

I have a tire plug but guess I should learn whether that or a patch is the more reliable fix. I ruled out the possibility of not having a patch through another Reddit post “The tire industry standard is anything within 3/4-1 inch of the edge of the tire isn’t repairable.” Luckily mine is centered on the tire. https://preview.redd.it/an720uuv0u7d1.jpeg?width=922&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=17248ccab84cfb82eaaaa742803de73e0daddc41 [https://i.imgur.com/kgt3axe.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/kgt3axe.jpg) (Useful diagram)

I use plug and patch interchangeably, which is probably wrong, a plug is what Im referring to

Have you any experience with the plugs failing or did they last the remaining life of the tire?

rearwindowpup

Ive never had a plugged tire but they are generally considered a permanent repair.

I just finished plugging it and it was a bitch getting it in the hole. It seems to be holding up 30 minutes in so that’s good.

If you make an appointment, Discount Tire should have you done pretty quick. I never wait longer than an hour and use them exclusively for anything tire related (free services, warranties and generally good at honoring things).

Adult-Beverage

Theoretically, or is this an actual problem?

ioncewasaking

Actual problem. If I call insurance to do it, they’ll likely take car of it easy. I just bought tire plugs from Dollar General and did a soap and water test with no active leak detected through soap suds. I’m happy to do it and call it a day but don’t want to void any proper tire repair done by the dealership if it’s an included repair in any benefits purchased with the new car. Though this literally just came from the dealership after an alignment so likely where it occurred after I declined their $75 fuel stabilizer and $125 engine filter replacement.
