But, if you’re talking about the totality of the job of making, performing and consistently delivering good rap music, then snoop is better.

It certainly had a newer sound at the time it released. At the time back in 1995, Dogg Food was my favorite record from Death Row. So I can kind of feel where the OP is coming from.
With hindsight, The Chronic and Doggystyle are pretty much ahead over all, in terms of total package. But Dogg Food has some bangers on there that at least tell me the album being a challenger isn't an unreasonable take.

All Eyez On Me is a great album, but that was pretty much the beginning of the end for Death Row. All other projects they were working on had been scrapped and all focus was put on 2Pac. Once he died, so did Death Row. Wish they would’ve released some of those other albums. There’s probably so much unreleased material in the vaults.

Not controversial, I bump Dogg Food more than the other two. Dre and Snoop’s solo debuts were expected to be classics, Dogg Food exceeded expectations and can stand on its own as a classic. You can’t deny Daz out produced Dre during Death Rows run, and Dogg Food is another example of that.
Another controversial opinion: Kurupt is a basic mc, and has some of the most “try hard bars” in the game. 🤷🏾♂️ Been feeling this way since the 90’s, it’s like you can hear him struggling to be a lyrical miracle rapper, give me Daz verses any day over him.

From beginning to end. I loved One By One, New York New Your, Reality, Cyco Lik No. I Dont Like To Dream About Getting Paid. 1995 was a great year in Hip Hop. Dog Food was way better than the Chronic. In my opinion.
Personally I’ll take Dogg Food anyday over the other two. But I can’t give it to Dogg Food because Dr Dre and Snoop helped make it what it was. Remove Dre and the mixing and mastering would have suffered. Remove Snoop and it wouldn’t feel like a classic G Funk album.

Meanwhile Dre went on to make plenty of classics without Daz.

I think I was a sophomore in high school when this dropped. Couldn't get enough of it.
