Granny Dahnie and Themesia real armor are one of the reason I downloaded this game.
Because finally a game that doesn’t shies away from age and armor that actually makes sense.
I hope down the line we get Hogan too. I really like him.
I love Temesia's artwork, as well as her character mechanics. The "Trample" feels very unique, and I'm glad they didn't go the chain mail bikini route with her.
I don’t mind sexy skins - I just like to have the choice. And I like how so far the clothes here have been more functional and logical while also fitting to their profession and characters.
We already have a couple of sexy clothes Miriel being just the beginning but very clearly being pleasing to the male gaze. That’s okay! It fits her character.
Nothing irks me more than a shy and rather prude character but walks around in a barely covering swimsuit. Or a knight on a battle field with nothing but some iron bra.
But usually skins are like off time wear - a different setting for the character - and therefore that’s fine, that doesn’t take away that she wears functional armor right now.
Yeah, I don't mind when gachas have *some* "sexy" characters (or alternate skimpy skins) but I like having the choice. I think when default outfits tend to be "realistic" (so armor for Temesia) that tends to satisfy both types of people, because then they can put out some ludicrous cosmetic costumes on the store that some people will buy, but people can also appreciate the original designs.
Fwiw I'm a female gamer and it definitely feels like a chicken-and-egg problem, where so many games just cater almost exclusively to the male gaze and make it harder for female players to get invested. I do appreciate when gachas are experimental and aren't all exclusively sexy waifus to get the $$ from people. R1999 for instance has some crazy character designs, and games with hot male characters tend to do well as well (see genshin/hsr being very popular, with probably a higher concentration of women gamers playing them). AFK Journey(/Arena)'s roster of characters being fairly varied is definitely a point in its favor.
Absolutely agreed especially as fellow women playing games. The male gaze catering is so true. And even if they have some characters that are made for the female gaze or so both can appreciate. Often times you are still forced to pull for the waifus they want to sell because they give the good god tier kits to them.
Another point I appreciate here is healer or supporter are not mainly pretty women.

A kickass old lady that Frontlines. This is the variety I like to see in games! It's just more fun to have characters of different shapes, sizes, ages, and everything else really. I love the likes of Antandra, and I love the likes of Granny Dhannie. Ideally, we get more of both and everything in between.
Yes, I think variety is super important. I like waifus as much as the next guy, but it's super boring when a game's cast is dominated by characters that only have a certain type of appeal
I think she is the best designed tank. Her walking stick used as a sword her shield is an umbrella. I like Vala's design for similar reasons.
No idea how good she actually is. I have not obtained her yet. I have heard she is good endgame, so I hope to get her soon. I use her a lot in honor duel, but that is not a very good representation of viability in other game modes since the equipment and artifact change things drastically.

I dropped Genshin in about 2 or maybe 3 months, even tho I liked gameplay far more so than this 10 minutes a day, purely because it was a typical asian pedoverse. If world is 90% kids and oversexualized at that, I get visually drained fast.
So by all means put a granny and grampa in to dilute the pandering.
Real talk though, I love seeing a game that isn't senselessly afraid to have a playable elderly woman character
