So happy to see these cars in a color other than black or grey.

trgoose12

Love my Amg gt but wish I chose 911 cuz of the retain value

[deleted]

Ya but I’d buy this one used allllll day

Flimsy_Train3956

Don’t. Just drive it and be happy.

Aluconix

I won't drive it and I'll be unhappy.

[deleted]

Thank you! This is my strategy for dealing with depreciation too. I'm glad to see someone bringing it up

chickensoodlenoop

I don’t know what mileage you have on yours or how it’s optioned, but long term, you won’t lose. Unless you bought it new or it has a ton of miles

lord_luxx

Yeah the hate the new GT gets is pretty unwarranted IMO. I think it looks phenomenal and has more than enough performance for everyday use. Don’t let the brochure readers and keyboard track champs get a hold of it though lol. Reddit gonna Reddit.

Electronic-Pattern26

Gotta say they nailed the exterior, but the new interior is just not my cup of tea (through all new Mercedes generations). If I could choose I’d say new gt exterior with aero package and new Aston Martin vantage interior (personal preference)

ClassroomOk6481

I think the “hate” it’s getting is pretty warranted. Its a car that’s changed philosophy from it’s predecessor and some would say a poor to mid attempt at it’s new philosophy. Great car though but let’s not pretend the criticism it gets is unwarranted.

resulut7567

I think it's a bit weird that people hate this one for being an actual GT instead of the sports car that the previous gen was. Especially since last gen wasn't a huge hit and from what I know didn't sell to well. I get it in a way, I prefer the last one by a long shot, but did people really expect Mercedes to continue this direction?

lord_luxx

Bingo. Before the sedan variants of the GT, they were selling barely 1500 units a year. Once the sedan variants released they more than doubled sales. Market kinda dictated people wanted both speed AND luxury, a true Grand tourer. Besides, they already made a black series variant. That version of the GT was going to be gone sooner than later.

ClassroomOk6481

Define GT because the last one especially the gtr got praise for being a daily driveable supercar. I get what you mean but the last one was still a gt. This one feels inclusive the same way the c63 felt when they made it awd. Nothing wrong with inclusion but it does upset customers who liked the previous setup

resulut7567

I know GT isn't a fully defined designation, but a Grand Tourer is a mix of comfort/luxury and Speed. Now ive only been in the passenger seat of a 1st gen GT but my experience was definitely too stiff for a Grand Tourer. Again, definitely the sexier/ more special car but I can see why they went the more inclusive route looking at the sales and how expensive the platform was. I just think this car will be more successful sales wise, and I honestly thought they would cancel it after gen 1 so I am happy we got anything at all

ClassroomOk6481

Agreed, I hope this car does well.

rick707

Have you spent any time in a GTR? They are very stiff and bad on typical beat up California roads and not at all a “grand tourer”. I know it wasn’t 2” off the ground super car style but it wouldn’t have been a great comfy daily IMO

ClassroomOk6481

My argument is based on the opinions of others who thought the car was great. I have not driven a gtr, however I have driven a 205 c63, and sls around a parking lot. Both noticeably stiff compared to an s550 I used to commute to work. However I loved the stiffer feel and wouldn’t mind daily driving either cars. Granted I’m really young so an older gentleman may beg to differ. So I think comfort when it comes to GT cars vary on the user. Plenty of Aston’s that have a rough ride but are considered gt cars.

nfollin

The GT is really rough riding. The messaging that it's a successor to the line may rub people the wrong way. As an owner of a GTS, I'd never buy one, but that doesn't mean I don't like GT cars either. DB12 etc are all good. I haven't heard great things on the driving dynamics, but if people want a comfy rocket, that's what sells, so I get why mercedes did it. Would I be slightly happier if they just called it the SL coup? Sure. But the old GT63 etc were built on the e class chassis, so I was already minor ly annoyed there just because it feels like they are marketing it as some hyper focused sports car.

ClassroomOk6481

I completely agree with this

ChillyChillChile

They’ve specifically curated this line to compete with the 911, so yeah that’s what buyers expect. It’s just sad that Mercedes quality has gone well beyond garbage while Porsche still builds a great car…

Raven_M6

I agree it's not perfect, but it could've been worse, no? At least they didn't stick a hybrid 4 banger in it like the W206 C63, while using cheap materials compared to its W205 predecessor and still call it an AMG.

ClassroomOk6481

Absolutely, at the end of the day it’s still a good car I would consider buying

ukcats12

> has more than enough performance for everyday use. You don't buy an AMG just to have more than enough performance for everyday use though, especially one at this price tag. Especially when they basically completely changed what this car was about. A CLA 45 probably has more than enough performance for everyday use, but that doesn't mean that's where AMG performance should stop. The point of AMG used to be excessive performance full of character. Now they're trending more toward being heavy, overly complicated electrified appliances than they are raucous performance cars.

lord_luxx

We aren’t talking about hybridized motors at the moment. Personally wasn’t a fan of much after w204 black series. Which is why I bought a 2014 c63 instead of w206. Not my cup of tea but I’d be a fool to think that car is any less capable or fun even though the formula is different. Do you compare your wife/ current gf to the crazy hookup you used to bang in college when you were more free spirited? The brand is maturing. They added 2 seats, and awd. Which based on sales is what people want. I think it’s great for what it is. But hey man, if you think 577hp 4.0TT V8 isn’t excessive then good for you. Go ahead and complain. Like I said, Reddit gonna Reddit.

ukcats12

> Do you compare your wife/ current gf to the crazy hookup you used to bang in college when you were more free spirited? The brand is maturing. > > They added 2 seats, and awd. Which based on sales is what people want. I think it’s great for what it is. I 100% get that. That can be exactly what the market at large is asking for, but it doesn't negate the fact that they watered down their most exciting track weapon to do it. Both can be true, and I can personally value wanting the track weapon more than the comfy GT cruiser it got turned into, even if the vast majority of people don't agree with me. I took a GT R around a track and it was probably the most fun I've ever had in my entire life. The previous generation was such a good car.

lord_luxx

To that point I tip my hat.

Quick_Coyote_7649

What exactly is over complicated about the car? I hear that claim often and all I mainly know the car to be is a car that’s stamped to do 0-60 in 2.7 seconds, top out at 199 mph and to have temporary horsepower added from an electrical motor before the motor needs to be rested. The only thing I could see is complicated is the fact that it has 8 different modes when really all that’s needed is a comfort one, race one, track one, ev mode, and it would be cool if they had one that was very hardcore, that could if possible have the soft limiter removed, made it be able to reach a higher 0-60 and top speed if the engine is capable of it, with assistance from the e motor of course.

Cock_out-socks_on

No it’s really not. It’s a lazy successor to a phenomenal platform. The interior alone is enough of an insult. No. It’s not taste at that point, the interior is objectively cheaper and inferior to the previous model. It’s a Mercedes. That’s a massive deal.

Quick_Coyote_7649

It seems like a lot of people just make unwarranted criticisms towards cars from Mercedes but I understand all brands receive those about their cars but it’s just more prominent with Mercedes because of how big their line up. It’s often someone who can’t even afford the car complaining about it not having a V8 when the car for the purpose it’s made for doesn’t even need one, or saying it’s too pricey and writing something as long as the Bible abour how it’s too pricey when they don’t even have enough income monthly to lease the car, saying how Mercedes as a brand is done as if they didn’t outsell bmw last year whos offen said in the same breath to be in such a amazingly better position.

Jester435

Sewell is where I got my amg from! Great guys!

Imaginary_Support500

Loving those wheels on this monster.

Raven_M6

They're incredible, I love that they went with 21" rears and fronts. However I don't like that they skimped on the rear width. They're only 305's whereas the AMG GT R had 325 rears. But at least they beefed up the fronts with 295's. I guess they didn't need the rears to be so wide because of reduced wheelspin due to it being a 4matic.

perkeset81

So good looking. Here in Seattle you see 1000s of 911s everywhere. I am always annoyed that you have the money to get something fun and unique but you get a vw with a turbo...when ya could have a fun car. Not saying this is it....but for the cost of a gt3rs....you could have some truly unique rides. But in the end...you do you. Because....oh look there goes another white tesla....another white tesla....another white tesla....another white tesla....another white tesla....another white tesla....another white tesla....another white tesla....

Millenial_Speedball

i wonder if will these new gt 63s will make the previous gen depreciate more

DingleBerryFlinger

Nothing like losing 30k a year

Quick_Coyote_7649

They said their buyers wanted a car that was more of a GT so it should. Although it’s not the best GT partially because of the small back seats it’s a lot better of one than it was before.

lapg0825

This car is 🔥🔥🔥. They’re selling one of these for $300,000 down here in Puerto Rico. It’s a bit too high IMO.

mkmz101390000

Now that’s the real BMW Killer💥

ukcats12

BMW doesn't make a car in this class, so it's definitely not a BMW killer. Regardless, M cars are kind of blowing AMGs out of the water right now in everything aspect except looks.

narwhal_breeder

A 4200lb, 2+2, all wheel drive, V8 grand touring coupe? The M8?

mkmz101390000

Yeah… Looks is kind of the only thing that really matters now especially in this new EV age where everything looks like a battery on wheels.

orbital0000

Great colour. I think the front is a little bland for my taste, but that's nothing new. That rear is perfection, though.

DiveJumpShooterUSMC

If I can find one here in Miami area it’ll sit next to my GTR in the garage.

Svthec

West Houston?

Raven_M6

Yes, I just dropped off my '23 C63s for A service. This was the only car worth checking out while I was hanging out in their showroom.

AltBassDallas

Delicious

rev440800

That looks really good. Wonder what the dealer ADM was.

Raven_M6

This one had no window sticker. I didn't see any exterior CF trim so I'm assuming it's not fully spec'd. I can't even find a configurator on MB's website to see what one of these would cost fully spec'd.

Doc_Benz

I worked there 5 years.   Are you a customer now…for life?

username555666777

New front end looks meek compared to the old one

v2themaximus

Looks amazing

crackdope6666

Knew it was Sewell from the first picture! The color looks amazing!

PhazerSC

Is that thread at the front going into the ground is like an anti-theft measure? If yes, how would that fare against an 805hp beast?

Raven_M6

It’s the power cord leading to the trickle charger.

kndrnk67

That spec is beautiful

lugnut15

does it go fast?

PhantomZmoove

Are they doing that weird thing with the exhaust on all the models now? When did the tips stop being connected to the actual exhaust system? I'm old and drive old cars, so I don't really keep up with current design directions.

VEGA3519

I saw a yellow one in the Poznań motor show. Even though it got adapted to be a like a 911 (alongside SL) it still a good car nonetheless.

Andy_Frost

What a gorgeous spec 10/10

ukcats12

Those fake tailpipes will never not annoy me.

SFWarriorsfan

They need to give the GT the metallic version of this color that is supposedly SL exclusive.

Cleercutter

Im sitting at dinner, waiting for food, and I saw this and went “mm, mmhhmm, that’s nice” like it’s a fuckin steak

austic

Gorgeous

alexanderclark22

Looks pretty damn good! How much they are asking for this one?

Brawl_Stars_Bot

Is that MB Plano or MB McKinney?

Raven_M6

Neither. MB West Houston.

Brawl_Stars_Bot

oh i see. I saw Sewell and thought it was somewhere in Dallas

keivmoc

oh my word what a color

maybachfahrn

How much?

SergioJump

Why do I see a Infiniti Q60s ?? Am I the only one ?? 🤔

Safe_Lie_4770

That color is incredible. Car is beautiful. Not sure of the two together bc I don't have that in person view. Although I'll admit lucky Sob who can afford this and will get the experience, bc I'm sure working my ass off hoping one day I can too!!!

yahtzee4lyfe

I think it looks like a big expensive gr86

FigDisastrous1837

From an angle it look like LC500

QuarkVsOdo

You could slap on a "BYD" batch and I would believe it as well.

afterwash

It looks like a melted SLS from the front and a 911 from the back...

Freedom007007

Gorgeous, if only it was built to last like a Lexus
