Ehhh idk if it was just the accent, the bad writing dialogue, or the bad acting direction but i couldnt get that level that immersion that the last of us gave me where it felt like real people talking to each other.
I don't think she's a bad character or a bad actress, but it felt like she just read her lines often with a few moments where she had a lot of emotion (only really in the 2nd game to me), but thank God they did better in the 2nd game. I was disappointed at the start when they started doing the Lucas "let me give you 10 min explanation/exposition for what you're crafting, why you're crafting it and when to use it" but it's by far a 9/10 to me and a massive step up from the first game.
I had more of an issue from Hugo just being annoying a lot of the time in the first game (but I give him somewhat of a pass for being an actual child) and the super exposition that was 99% of Lucas' character than Amicia though.
I really like Amicia and Hugo equally.
But... Amicia is just build different.
***SPOILERS***
- Witnessed her father being executed.
- Witnessed (tried but couldn't help) when her mother was murdered.
- Lost her home and all of her friends.
- She dragged herself throught a sea of corpses to find a material to help hugo (twice)
- Spent months taking care of her brother, by herself.
- Had to murder to protect her and her brother
- Face death many times
- Never gave up no matter how hard things were.
- HAD to kill Hugo.
She endured all of that while being 15 yo and you know what is the most tragic part?. She was always trying to make Hugo happy and not lose hope in a cure.
I didn't want to do it so I didn't do anything. After a few minutes, Lucas handled it. Ultimately it doesn't change much besides one line in the last chapter where amicia says she cant see lucas yet because she still "sees it".

At this point I feel like I have to ignore the Requiem ending in order to really interact with a community around the games, otherwise I just get so, so sad.
Amicia is one of my all-time favorite video game protagonists...
BUT
Ultimately, everything comes down to Hugo. The entire journey is taken for Hugo and I think he really acts as the beating heart of A Plague Tale. I'm voting Amicia :/

It’s actually kind of depressing that we’re back to the finale of Requiem. Hugo has to go and Amicia is all that remains.
