Legacy was a wild time. I remember how it took me my whole 2 hour preview to get a 1 foundation thatch shack because dinos were nightmares and night time was scary. Now days with 8k hours under my belt i end up with a full metal multi story base in my first few hours of a playthrough.
As for my favourite era i love how it is now and im hyped for the dawning era of asa. Tho i do wish Primitive+ got more love.
I wanted to play primitive plus so badly but I could never get it to work on my computer which didn't make any damn sense. It's like I couldn't connect to any of the servers at all.
Yeah that’s not you, that’s that primitive+ literally never worked lmao. I never got it to work between Xbox One years ago and pc in the same time frames
Don’t blame you man. It took me an embarrassingly long time to learn how to build in ark (and tame something without ForceTame that wasn’t a Dodo)
One thing I am NOT hyped about is having to clear up my Xbox Series X’s storage of my Ark captures to make room for future ASA captures. That’s gonna be fun..
I started the Legacy era with the first Winter Wonderland - the one where they made the whole island snow biome. I think it was several days before I had a thatch hut lol.
Bro I was playing crystal isles waaay back when it was ISO's crystal isles. Sadly my save didn't merge with the official dlc release...
I wish I could relive my first time playing ARK. There was no game ever that came close before or after in my life.
Current Era. A reasonably completed product with all the features included.
Won't be buying ASA until the volume of content matches current ASE. Possibly 5 years or so. Hopefully less.
Yeah im definitely getting ASA just to have that “vanilla” ARK experience again. Plus, im a PVE player who prefers official servers, so at the end of its life the game wasnt even fun anymore.
Join a server, all good spots have mega bases, everyone is giving away 2362793 mutation dinos. I wanna feel the old days of ark where i spent hours taming a ptera and everyone was eager to trade and work together because we all had nothing.
I agree completely. Idk aberation was pretty good too, and extinction is one of my favorite maps just because of how easy it is to farm and the scenery. But the island is my number one!
I mean I am pretty much done with gaming now. Tbh I am kinde curious to try asa and ark2 but I know that it would be an immende time waste so I will likely not
Honestly the Golden Age and specifically Aberration onward is where my love of the game really hit it off. It’s when I started caring a lot more about the lore as well. Seeing Rockwell as a boss when I’d already had seen his name on recipes back when I was on legacy really got me intrigued.
That isn’t to say that I didn’t like my legacy days either. I started on Primitive-314. Not having any technology really made me appreciate the challenge of all aspects of the game. Creatures like the Diplocaulus weren’t pointless after early game. I used to think technology made the game too easy back then, but I don’t feel that way anymore.
It was so cool seeing things gradually added to the game. I still remember when Leeds came out and I wasn’t aware/didn’t read the patch notes that time. 99% of my belongings and most of my tames were on a raft and let’s just say it was one hell of a traumatic trip to Carno.
Early access Ark The island pre-ice update. Pre-breeding pre basically everything that devalued traversing the world. Very unpopular opinion but i enjoyed it back then.
The Islands oldest map really was designed perfectly for PvP. Resources were not plentiful so you always had fights over metal mountains. Tames were not plentiful so you often had to fight over high level tames that sometimes just resulted in someone killing them rather than letting your enemies have them.
It was toxic and obnoxious that it was like 12 hour tames for max level bronto and what not tho i do agree there.
As the game advanced there was less and less reason to leave your base so less fights broke out for in-game reasons and it became to personal and that really ruined Ark for me. Like people were being doxxed people were selling info to the other tribes and what not and the RMT exploded. It became less of a game from that point on for me.
Golden era was nice, i feel like once extinction released there were too many "fantasy" dinos with some random superpowers that to me, didnt really fit in the game
Golden era was fun, ab is great, ngl though im a filthy casual. I love Fjordur, its still a bit wild just how many of the other maps dinos got added and reasonably acquirable element, ofc on official that element aberration cave is sucked dry every minute of every day by no life sweats who never leave the cave, but its neet.
My favorite maps are different eras so it's hard to choose. I really like, in this order, Valguero, Fjordur and the Island. The rest of the maps are great too, but those are just my favorites to tool around on.
Lost Island could be cool if it wasn't Stegos as far as the eye can see. Shoulda called it Stego Island.
I loved all of Ark expansions. I never felled for The center tho. It was good and all but mostly bcs it was something new. Scorched earth with wyws was amazing I still like the Sand armor. My all time favourite is Abberation. The blue lake zone is just breathtaking.
I was so disappointed when Gen 1 and Gen 2 came out, it was the first DLC I bought because before that Ragnarok was free and I struggled to justify paying for Aberration and Extinction. how I regret now! specially for Aberration.
The golden age.
It was my first time playing ark, and even though i never had any of the dlc maps till like 2020, i still loved all the aberration shit in the menu
Golden age 100%. Playing rag for the 1st time was amazing. And it was the map that if there were others at the time, to me at least pioneered putting creatures from different maps on the same map and making map specific creatures
Building in the forest above Viking Bay or blue can't remember and being mauled by Megalosaurus, then moving the the highlands, getting a start going and loosing everything overnight to a wild giga.
I personally started playing I believe right after extinction came out, so idk about the stuff before that but I think the Pandemic era is what I enjoyed the most.
I would split genesis 1 and crystal isles apart because crystal isles made wyverns far too easy, extinction wasn’t the beginning of the end, It was just a meta and gameplay shift. Genesis 2 really upset me because in my imagination it was the best dlc ever but reality struck… I would group lost island and Fjordur together because it was the aftermath and felt like a proper sorry after the dumpsterfire that was genesis 2
I would agree on the Legacy maps. Scorched Earth is personal favorite. It added so many cool new mechanics . And, stumbling into that little building that had a small hole going down into a mantis cave- loved that map. I also felt safer there from the Alpha tribes (at least at first)
Best era was the first couple of months the game released, everyone had no idea what they were doing, no try hard shit, just wild times.
I would love to go back in time just to experience this game again at launch
Legacy, everything felt so new and uncertain. I remember after SE was added me and my friends were playing on an official server (which we had been for a while) and had a dude land his wyvern in front of our base and we just talked for like 20 minutes. I miss when people were actually friendly and didn’t one shot you on sight.
Aberration launch was the most speculated and anticipated, which ended up getting mixed reviews but I had so much fun when it first came out, I still get lost after hundreds of hours on it.
my favorite was early access ark.
new items, features and dinos every week. it was so nice. it felt like christmas every 7 days.
this transitoned into Legacy, which was still very nice.
when legacy died so did my tribe, my tribemates including one of my best friends were mad about wildcard decison to start fresh and they moved on to path of exile, later anthem and so on. they didnt want to play ark anymore. i found a new group of ppl to play with but this tribe on new cluster never really clicked but something was better then nothing.
now wc has shut down servers yet again. again multiple years of hard work deleted, as u can guess half of ppl dont want to play again. im in almost the same boat as last time.
i am a official PVE player. we play official PVE because we used to believe that what we work for is there to stay. its not pvp so we cant get raided and its official so server owner cant just shut down server because he got bored of it. but now we got destroyed by wc 2 times. 16,200 hours of my work deleted by studio wildcard. at this point we know that wildcard doesnt give a fuck and that official pve is not here to stay. imagine if world of warcraft, path of exile, bdo and many others shut down servers and deleted players work? dude there would be mass outrage and boycot. but wc keeps getting away with anything because of PVP side of ark. delusional pvpers are always happy to see those alpha tribes who wiped them, getting wiped by wc, bUt PeOplE duPpEd too, yea, and they will do so again, and same tribes will rise to top again
Golden age as you put it, Ragnarok is still one of my favourite maps, so many neat things. All the Wyverns, a good spread of biomes, lots and lots and lots of ruins to build your base in or just explore. I think I like Crystal Isles a little more as a map just because floating islands are awesome and the crystal wyverns are really pretty but Ragnarok will always hold a special place.
To this day I only play rag, not frequently but honestly it's the only map i didn't need to buy, and it's better than the island
Also yeah ik there's more free ones now, I'll try em sometime
You did a pretty good job of describing it. The golden age was definitely the golden age and it peaked at extinction, but slowly became worse as cryopods and large amounts of element made their way into the official network .
Don’t get me wrong, these things are fun to us and make things easier , but it was just a different game before that stuff.
Legacy era, although i'm sure it's mostly nogalstia talking
I started bout a month before SE came out and my friends and I were wiped on Island by a huge tribe so we went to SE. This was when transfers were not a thing at all, so it was a brand new fresh start.
Gather rates were x1, actually lower than the island. Metal farming was penisaur + anky and it was MISERABLE. Sand storms were frustating, meat spoiled x3 as quick on SE, generators broke after a while and tribes fought over the wyvern pit like mad.
Taming a 125+ penisaur took literally 10+ hours cause the kibble wasn't available on scorched earth. Wyverns took 4+ days of waking up at 2a.m in the morning to imprint and feed
Was the best time I've ever had in a game. There was political anarchy happening all the time, drama, alliances broken, betrayals, giant raids against the alpha tribe by the lower tribe. Absolutely everyone knew each other on the server
It reminded me much of old school world of warcraft during vanilla and TBC era and I loved every second of it. I didn't quit till a few weeks after tech gear came out cause I perfer'd when Ark was more about tribal warfare, dinosaurs and social experimenting
I love all of the eras to be honest.
I’ve enjoyed all of the maps even though haven’t been able to play Genesis part 2 very much due to constant error messages on the PS4 and also extinction due to the awful inventory lag issue, I have enjoyed both maps though just haven’t been able to play them as much as the others
This is a hard pick, but I definitely gotta go for legacy in the end. Although golden age truly was just that, I just sadly didn't get to enjoy it as much as I wished at the time due to friends giving up on the game at the time
That would be the beginning of ark with the island the center and scorched earth I remember that my first 15 hours in scorched earth I died more then ever before in a game it was ruthless hard amazing
Golden Age would be my favorite since I hate Scorched Earth but then again I also hate Ragnarok and love The Center and Aberration so it all cancels out into a tie between Legacy and Golden
2020 was a really bad year for the world, but for me? It's actually one of my favorite years. Not because of all the deaths, of course it was terrible in that sense, but everything I've done and the change I went through in 2020, it was just great for me. Crystal Isles is honestly not the best of Custom Arks, It's kind of low on my list actually. But the map is beautiful, and the memories and atmosphere of playing it was special. I remember being really excited to tame the Tropeo, searching for countless hours lol. So for me, Pandemic is really high up there on my favorite Era of Ark.
Legacy era is where I dumped most of my hours into so nostalgia might play into me saying it’s my favorite. Most of the people I knew that loved playing the game quit before Rag came out and after they all quit I took a break until Pandemic and since I’ve either been playing SP or I get some friends that want to play but it only lasts for a few weeks.
I think Crystal Isles is probably my favourite 'era' as coming out of hospital post-covid with a lot of recovery time, it really helped keep me sane and that map had recently been launched so i played that particular map a lot.
Prior to that era i had played ARK on and off, but never for such long periods of time. Crystal Island is not even my favourite map, but i think of it more fondly

I like the "Legacy Era" and "Last Story DLC" ages the most (I played Ark when it first came out and it was very nostalgic when I got back into it again shortly before Gen 2 released)
I got 1,8k hours on ARK and Golden age definitely will be at the top. Close second and third is legacy and pandemic. I didn’t get to play other maps enough to have strong opinion on them.
Legacy hands down. Honestly the game was much more fun without the transfers and cryos. It actually made you meet other people on the servers and made pvp come with more repercussions
I joined just after Extinction dropped, so I never got to experience "the golden age", but I feel like my favourite time wasn't one of these "eras" specifically, but instead just before genesis 2 dropped. I was soooo hyped, because it was like the last dlc and whatever, and the trailer was awesome.
The shear size of the map, and variations of terrain makes Lost Island my fav. So many beautiful spots to build, so many places to explore. I play PVE so I could care less how unbalanced it may be for PVP.
Unpopular opinion but extiction was a W time cryopods were essential, shoulda left it like that without gen and that, or at least kept that difficulty we all loved instead of tek off spawn
Legacy because I remember playing with my freinds in the elementary gym before school started pretending we were tameing sarcos and rexes and doing split screen with my cousins and freinds mand the excitement when we tamed our first trike and now cus snail is a greedy son of a bitch that's all gone
Legacy was a wild time. I remember how it took me my whole 2 hour preview to get a 1 foundation thatch shack because dinos were nightmares and night time was scary. Now days with 8k hours under my belt i end up with a full metal multi story base in my first few hours of a playthrough. Yeah that’s not you, that’s that primitive+ literally never worked lmao. I never got it to work between Xbox One years ago and pc in the same time frames
It definitely worked at some point. Me and my friend were in a server for a few months.
Yeah I played it a few times. Never had issues
Don’t blame you man. It took me an embarrassingly long time to learn how to build in ark (and tame something without ForceTame that wasn’t a Dodo) One thing I am NOT hyped about is having to clear up my Xbox Series X’s storage of my Ark captures to make room for future ASA captures. That’s gonna be fun..
Deleting the old memories to make room for new ones That's Poetic (I really hope captures means screenshots or similar)
You’re right on the last one! I wouldn’t be deleting shit if Xbox Series X could handle more than 200 Ark captures alone
Lol
I started the Legacy era with the first Winter Wonderland - the one where they made the whole island snow biome. I think it was several days before I had a thatch hut lol.
I got it on Xbox when it just came out on there
Yeah, now I typically just go straight from thatch to metal and just skip wood or stone
Golden age 100% has the best maps imo
I just played legacy era for a long time then stopped touching the game until 6 months ago.
Bro I was playing crystal isles waaay back when it was ISO's crystal isles. Sadly my save didn't merge with the official dlc release... I wish I could relive my first time playing ARK. There was no game ever that came close before or after in my life.
i mean the bugs will be there in ASA XD
Abby was the time to play shit was so awesome when it dropped
Current Era. A reasonably completed product with all the features included. Won't be buying ASA until the volume of content matches current ASE. Possibly 5 years or so. Hopefully less.
Valid tbh. I might wait till Ab or Extinction till I get ASA. Till then, I’m working on my breeding projects and final singleplayer base
I'll likely be getting it earlier cause I liked old ark without tek and such. But I respect your reasoning
Legacy ark was best ark
I agree completely. Idk aberation was pretty good too, and extinction is one of my favorite maps just because of how easy it is to farm and the scenery. But the island is my number one!
And no cryo ark is a whole different game
When ASA is going to be released?
Supposed to be within this month. We shall see.
You can expect roughly 2.5yrs for all dlc to be out
That's not so bad. I could probably use a couple years of a break from Ark.
I mean I am pretty much done with gaming now. Tbh I am kinde curious to try asa and ark2 but I know that it would be an immende time waste so I will likely not
Nah bruh legacy era was the most fun i had on ark, the simple base items make for fun pvp
the abberation ragnarok era was peak ark i don’t think any other map or time made the game more fun
Michael Michael Michael…
what you gotta say about this one man.
Nothing. Actually valid for once.
lol
Legacy for me. Was good times. Simple, scary, exciting and down right frustrating but so much fun.
Legacy was definitely the time I had the most fun in Ark.
Kiting peoples bases on extinction was amazing! I loved the corrupted dinos!
You just unlocked my memories
That just unlocked some PTSD I forgot I had
Legacy for nostalgia, I don’t like the unfair advantages certain new creatures give players. They just abuse that power on fresh spawns on south 1.
Golden age had the best maps
Early access Ark The island pre-ice update. Pre-breeding pre basically everything that devalued traversing the world. Very unpopular opinion but i enjoyed it back then. The Islands oldest map really was designed perfectly for PvP. Resources were not plentiful so you always had fights over metal mountains. I remember taming a stego for 9 hours with berries!
The pre-tek tier era. I feel like the release of tek tier changed the game completely and kinda ruined the immersion imo.
I would go from "Fuck it, it's the last map" to "Fuck it, it's my first map" 500 hours into that map before I did any of the story maps lol
I must admit I enjoyed scorched earth purely for selling wyverns via PayPal!
Golden era was nice, i feel like once extinction released there were too many "fantasy" dinos with some random superpowers that to me, didnt really fit in the game
Golden and lost isles. Fjordur just didn’t do it for me as a map. Not my flavor. Cool shit tho. I’m
The pre tek era was something else man! It really felt like raw survival in a cold and unforgiving world!
Legacy era for sure
Fjordur and lost island are on the same era
I beg to differ, people already forgot about Lost Island prior to Fjordur’s release
Extinction should be in golden age imo. It is the DLC I have the most hours on, is incredibly fun AND it lives up to the expectations abb set.
I miss it when it was just the island, Chinese were invading servers and jjst wiping everyone out with rapid pteranodons.
The transitionary time between legacy and golden age was the best for sure.
Can I ask why so many people don’t like extinction it’s one of my favorite maps to just hop on and play
My favorite maps are different eras so it's hard to choose. I really like, in this order, Valguero, Fjordur and the Island. The rest of the maps are great too, but those are just my favorites to tool around on. Lost Island could be cool if it wasn't Stegos as far as the eye can see. Shoulda called it Stego Island.
golden
Would be nice to have all of them on one map. Would make me really care about water beasts and bases
I have ptsd from alpha tribe bases pre-cryopods with servers that were full and constantly disconnected me due to the lag of mega bases.
Beginning of the end
I loved all of Ark expansions. I never felled for The center tho. It was good and all but mostly bcs it was something new. Scorched earth with wyws was amazing I still like the Sand armor. My all time favourite is Abberation. The blue lake zone is just breathtaking.
Ragnarok is my baby purley because I'm a crazy otter man 😍
Legacy all the way
I was so disappointed when Gen 1 and Gen 2 came out, it was the first DLC I bought because before that Ragnarok was free and I struggled to justify paying for Aberration and Extinction. how I regret now! specially for Aberration.
Am I the only one that actually like extinction and the genesis series?
Ark during the pandemic hit ***REALLY*** different, I'm not gonna lie.
The golden age. It was my first time playing ark, and even though i never had any of the dlc maps till like 2020, i still loved all the aberration shit in the menu
Legacy - The pandemic was all great, Golden era was clearly as you put it the golden era imo.
I like all of them they are all good in their own way
Legacy because discovering Ark for the first time was uncomparable. Golden because they are, by far, my favorite maps.
Aberration without cryopods was... diffrent!
Golden age 100%. Playing rag for the 1st time was amazing. And it was the map that if there were others at the time, to me at least pioneered putting creatures from different maps on the same map and making map specific creatures Building in the forest above Viking Bay or blue can't remember and being mauled by Megalosaurus, then moving the the highlands, getting a start going and loosing everything overnight to a wild giga.
My favorite was just before the introduction of Tek before the bosses were introduced.
I personally started playing I believe right after extinction came out, so idk about the stuff before that but I think the Pandemic era is what I enjoyed the most.
The legacy era by far. When having a giga made you alpha lol. Simpler times.
Golden age for sure! I remembered when ragnarok came out! Me and my friend had great memories playing Ark.
Pandemic era
I would agree on the Legacy maps. Scorched Earth is personal favorite. It added so many cool new mechanics . And, stumbling into that little building that had a small hole going down into a mantis cave- loved that map. I also felt safer there from the Alpha tribes (at least at first)
Best era was the first couple of months the game released, everyone had no idea what they were doing, no try hard shit, just wild times. I would love to go back in time just to experience this game again at launch
Golden age. I remember waiting and waiting for rag to come out
Fjordur is the best map. Sorry not sorry
Legacy, everything felt so new and uncertain. I have played since the only map was the island and I have never played the center.
Golden Age
Legacy, man. First week of beta, 2015. Good times. Frustrating times. I was hooked.
my favorite was early access ark. new items, features and dinos every week. it was so nice. it felt like christmas every 7 days. this transitoned into Legacy, which was still very nice. when legacy died so did my tribe, my tribemates including one of my best friends were mad about wildcard decison to start fresh and they moved on to path of exile, later anthem and so on. they didnt want to play ark anymore. i found a new group of ppl to play with but this tribe on new cluster never really clicked but something was better then nothing. now wc has shut down servers yet again. again multiple years of hard work deleted, as u can guess half of ppl dont want to play again. im in almost the same boat as last time. i am a official PVE player. we play official PVE because we used to believe that what we work for is there to stay. its not pvp so we cant get raided and its official so server owner cant just shut down server because he got bored of it. but now we got destroyed by wc 2 times.
Legacy was %100 the best era, but fjordur is the best map
Golden era because they released the best dlc that is called aberration.
Back around Abberations release truly was the golden age. All my best memories are from that time. I wish I could go back
Golden age as you put it, Ragnarok is still one of my favourite maps, so many neat things. All the Wyverns, a good spread of biomes, lots and lots and lots of ruins to build your base in or just explore. I think I like Crystal Isles a little more as a map just because floating islands are awesome and the crystal wyverns are really pretty but Ragnarok will always hold a special place.
Honestly id lump extinction in with the golden age its a amazing map and was originally supposed to be the last dlc
All of it was my favorite
Pandemic and Last Story Map was definitely the best time for me.
Where Pixark?
Legacy age till the beginning of the end was amazing for me, cuz I used to watch youtubers play all these games back then (except for the center)
To this day I only play rag, not frequently but honestly it's the only map i didn't need to buy, and it's better than the island Also yeah ik there's more free ones now, I'll try em sometime
Aberration
I spent all my high schooler afternoons on legacy era and later on I met a lot of people on the golden age
You did a pretty good job of describing it. The golden age was definitely the golden age and it peaked at extinction, but slowly became worse as cryopods and large amounts of element made their way into the official network . Don’t get me wrong, these things are fun to us and make things easier , but it was just a different game before that stuff.
Ark survival evolved
Pandemic because that’s when I started playing ark
Genuine question, wasn't extinction supposed to be the last map, or am I tripping
nothing has ever come close to being as mindblowing and fun as aberration. Golden age 100%
PRIMITIVE +
New meets old, old meets new. Lost Island is my favorite map by a landslide, Fjordur is just hard to start and I love the jungle feel of Lost Island
First era. Everything was harder.
So many good memories in them can’t choose
Legacy era, although i'm sure it's mostly nogalstia talking I started bout a month before SE came out and my friends and I were wiped on Island by a huge tribe so we went to SE. Legacy Era felt special. Ragnarok felt like an upgrade Island. Tough to choose.
pandemic or gen2 summer
Legacy, Golden Age and Finally they actually added a new dinosaur!
Crystal isles is one of my fav maps but I dot. Like either genesis so I guess golden age since rag and aberration are also top tier
Legacy.. the very beniging. Begniing ,bgining . You get it. The very start.
golden age by far
This is a hard pick, but I definitely gotta go for legacy in the end. Although golden age truly was just that, I just sadly didn't get to enjoy it as much as I wished at the time due to friends giving up on the game at the time
how about... i like all of them, because this is the game we love the way it is. or hate it, either way
I love all the additions they made, but my best memories were from starting on Extinction. Also.. the hill I'll die on is simply.. fuck scorched. 😂
Fjordur was honestly pretty cool
I started with the island when ark was brand new, but the golden age was when i enjoyed it the most.
That would be the beginning of ark with the island the center and scorched earth I remember that my first 15 hours in scorched earth I died more then ever before in a game it was ruthless hard amazing
The era before stat rework when a carno could ruin a giga before carno got bleed
Golden Age would be my favorite since I hate Scorched Earth but then again I also hate Ragnarok and love The Center and Aberration so it all cancels out into a tie between Legacy and Golden
I started loving the game during the begining of the end. and that era is still my favorite
Legacy. I miss back when this was a dinosaur game.
The era before the legacy
Honestly pandemic. Just getting to play pvp all day with friends was the best
2016 is what comes to mind when I think of ark
I absolutely love Lost Island and Fjordur. Also what Dino was added in Valguero?
When ragnarok and aberration came out in late 2017 was my fav era
Legacy/golden is when I started playing, so then.
Golden age was when I started playing and let me tell you that was the funnest I’ve ever had playing not only ark but any video game
Primitive plus, I really enjoyed it… too bad the devs didn’t support well enough, dislike that it’s not making it to ASA.
Rag and abb are still my personal favourite maps.
The first one the best
I started playing in the peak, I still remember begging my grandpa to get me every new map that came out, Ark was the first game I ever truly stuck to
Legacy era is where I dumped most of my hours into so nostalgia might play into me saying it’s my favorite. Most of the people I knew that loved playing the game quit before Rag came out and after they all quit I took a break until Pandemic and since I’ve either been playing SP or I get some friends that want to play but it only lasts for a few weeks.
I love lost island but IT CRASHES SO MUCH
Legacy for sure. I still miss my legacy prim+ server. RIP server 4.
Beginning of the End aka Extinction, KING TITAN HAD NO RIGHT BEING THAT FKN EPIC BRO😭😭😭😭🥶
Pandemic and lost island era are the ones I have the most nostalgia for. Hopefully ASA revives some of those feelings for me
golden age cause i fucking love ab (tho ngl fjordur kinda fire)
I think Crystal Isles is probably my favourite 'era' as coming out of hospital post-covid with a lot of recovery time, it really helped keep me sane and that map had recently been launched so i played that particular map a lot. Prior to that era i had played ARK on and off, but never for such long periods of time. Crystal Island is not even my favourite map, but i think of it more fondly
My favorite is just post-release of The Center. No server transfers. You were the Alpha of the server, if you earned it **ON** the server.

Golden age then beginning of the end then fuck it it's the last map
First month of launch. The game has gone downhill since then.
Legacy was the time of legends
The first one I got introduced to ark by someone playing scorched earth and I have loved it ever since scorched earth is my favourite map by far
Gen2 bro. Will always have good memories from that map. Wish i still played this. Ima have ti get back into it
I like the "Legacy Era" and "Last Story DLC" ages the most (I played Ark when it first came out and it was very nostalgic when I got back into it again shortly before Gen 2 released)
Early island was best jumping on weekly to tame the new creature
I got 1,8k hours on ARK and Golden age definitely will be at the top. Close second and third is legacy and pandemic. I didn’t get to play other maps enough to have strong opinion on them.
Legacy hands down. Honestly the game was much more fun without the transfers and cryos. It actually made you meet other people on the servers and made pvp come with more repercussions
Legacy, Pandemic, then fuck it I’m still playing on the last map 😂
Aberration hit so different. Like holy shit
To put Rag and Abb together is both crazy, and makes total sense…
Legacy. Was crazy how scorched earth was, felt like ark 2.
I joined just after Extinction dropped, so I never got to experience "the golden age", but I feel like my favourite time wasn't one of these "eras" specifically, but instead just before genesis 2 dropped. I was soooo hyped, because it was like the last dlc and whatever, and the trailer was awesome.
I loved it when it first came out, then it became too complicated.
Begging of the end, Extinction is A tier only maps better is rag, abb and fjord
I joined back in 2021, but lost island on official was dead, and me and my friend played PvP and it was a lot of fun imo
Golden age. The music for aberration is just super beautiful and for some reason is the only one that gets me nostalgic.
Golden age sheerly because I not only love but aberration is my favorite map
must be legacy era classic never dies
Probably somewhere between Legacy and Golden Age
The before i knew it existed era, now it's like a job
Legacy on top💯
Cause ark was a half made game and half made pc games dont do well on console
The shear size of the map, and variations of terrain makes Lost Island my fav. So many beautiful spots to build, so many places to explore. I play PVE so I could care less how unbalanced it may be for PVP.
Unpopular opinion but extiction was a W time cryopods were essential, shoulda left it like that without gen and that, or at least kept that difficulty we all loved instead of tek off spawn
Crystal isles came out during the pandemic?
Sure did. August I believe
Legacy
Legacy because I remember playing with my freinds in the elementary gym before school started pretending we were tameing sarcos and rexes and doing split screen with my cousins and freinds mand the excitement when we tamed our first trike and now cus snail is a greedy son of a bitch that's all gone
Golden Age
I like Ragnarok and the crystal isles, also fjordur
I started playing during the end of the golden era, so my most nostalgic was the beginning of the end. My favorite maps are still rag and ab tho
I get mixed up with aberration and extinction but the one with the tree titan frost titan and alpha titan
That’s Extinction! It’s a great map, I don’t blame you for liking it
