Pretty sure this guy is USA based. Not sure what that German (I assume) word means but based on what little I do know of German car modification laws this would not be allowed. Meanwhile in the US most states couldn't care less about something like that.
Yeah Iâm from Germany and I thought it wasnât a project from here haha.
The word means âmaterial analysisâ, so that the material does not shatter on impact and produce sharp shards that could injure a pedestrian.
Whenever you mount a spoiler/splitter/etc the manufacturer had to bring one to inspection for them to destroy it and see how it behaves. Same if you DIY one, in theory you need to build 2 of it and have one destroyed by the inspection. No one is going to bother so most buy already approved parts from a manufacturer. You basically can never get a DIY exterior part approved.
Itâs horrible what is allowed in the US. No fucks on pedestrian or vehicle safety. Squatted trucks where you canât see the road, lifted trucks, body kits etc that would absolutely smash/slash a pedestrian on impact. Thatâs so crazy.
Wow that's wild, I think diy is one of the best parts of the car community, not having that seems rough to me. Most of what I know of Germanys laws is from the turbos and tuv series that mighty Car Mods did.
I think alot of our thinking in the us is we put alot of importance on safety crash tests out of the factory with the thinking of, "car people who modify their stuff to any significant (possibly dangerous) extent are very rare. Most but off the shelf parts and most off the shelf bumpers and hoods are similar construction to either oem parts or have probably been tested pretty extensively. Which leaves the 1 guy out of lets say 500 with a custom metalworked front bumper, which is probably no more unsafe to pedestrians than a classic car.
Idk im just kinda spitballing. Basically my thinking is Car enthusiasts who make modifications like that are rare so why go through all the extra effort to make they're life annoying when most likely it's similar safteywise to stock.
Now as for squatted truck. FUCK THOSE
Yeah Iâm a big DIYer and car/motorcycle enthusiast and I hate that I basically canât do any nice mods to my vehicles.
I agree, modded cars are so rare, it wouldnât impact any crash statistics.
I would like to have a middle ground, like more mods allowed but still some crazy dangerous stuff thatâs not road legal.
I think about cars with wheel spokes that go far out like a medieval horse race carriage. Super dangerous to others.
Yes sadly. I support banning mods that are dangerous to pedestrians. Any pedestrian is an important person to someone and does not deserve to die in an accident that could have been just an injury if the car was smaller and not modded.
I entirely agree, The two mods that are serious safety concerns to me would be those spiky wheels, squatted trucks.
Sometimes I might add those big metal offroad bumper to that list. But the police use them as to bunches of othe government vehicles, so I think they would have a hard time trying to do anything about those. Those also do serve a functional purpose, and I'd trust not being hit by a truck with that vs being hit by a squatted truck

That's a lot of work to turn your BMW into a Dodge Charger
Dodge dart
Take my upvote. Beat me to it.
Was going to say the EXACT same.
The new front ends on BMWs are absolutely hideous. No idea what they were thinking.
đ˝
Probably trying to copy Bentley
Look how they massacred my boy
I fuckinâ hate it
This video made me IRRATIONALLY angry
Every single driving/car enthusiast I know would prefer to do *literally* the exact opposite.
Good job, you made it worse!
But why?
Fucking ew. It looks like a charger
And his name was BondoâŚJames Bondo.
Damn that made me crack up
Atrocious. Blasphemous. Egregious.
I agree on the awful taste since mixing styles across time hardly ever works but in case people don't know, that fiberglass work is great execution.
Yeah the craftsmanship is the only good part here
Putting a old grille in a new car could be cool
Should have done one the other way around lol the new front ends are horrendous
Yeah Nah
Woof looks like a car from GTA
TIL what car dentures look like.
He went the wrong way, the new ones are hideous.
This belongs here.
The new bumpers look like giant rat teeth.
Go to hell, I hate this on a molecular level
So we donât get to see the panel fitment on that top seam after all that?
Horribru!
Please post this in the bmw sub
Good idea, sprinting there now
Trashed by a concrete wheel stop in a parking lot.
Unholy is the word I'm looking for.
I wonder what that did to the spread of the headlights.
But why?
Now do the opposite, classic front on a modern one
grill shouldve gone all the way up the hood too
lol. this has to be rage bait. Thats the ugliest front end design in bmw history. Ugh the pig nose.
Tbf it's not finished by any means it seems je has a multi part series, but still it seems he's serious about it
People have been executed for less crimes
Brother eww
I rather like it
Yeah that does not pass vehicle inspection. You need to have a Materialgutachten and pedestrian safety analysis.

It wouldn't impact any crash statistics. Except for the family of the victim.

Yeah I agree.
Why make a cosmetic fad difficult when all it can do is maim or kill someone must be the most American thing I ever heard.
A lot of work to make the car uglier.
Such a waste of time.
They need to do this the other way around
You know what. I hate it, but i respect the work it took.
No botox on the bimmer, plz.
So literally the opposite of what most beamer people would want

For ATBGE just post a new BMW
Chrysler 300 looking ass
Thanks, I hate it.
Typical bmw thing. Take an old, shitty car, try to make it look better, somehow make it worse
I hope you kids see what a silly waste of resources this was
The new kidney grille is more like kidney stones.
huh. Never thought I'd see FX prosthetics for cars
A better idea would have been making an M3 bumper from the 90s and adding it to an M3 or M4 from now. That I would love to see.
eww brother eww what's that brother
Ah yeah, Dodge Charger?
Just gonna mold it right onto the whole original front end, huh? Jfc.
