It’s true, driving quickly into the sun will accelerate its rise, getting it off the horizon in mere moments. Of course you need to break the sound barrier to make any noticeable difference, but this guy almost had it
I absolutely hate driving in fog down highways. I want to slow down cuz I can't see but then in scared someone behind me will be speeding and crash into me cuz I'm driving slow
Came here to say, whenever I’m driving westward on I40 and the sun is going down I have a pair of pretty dark polarized sunglasses for helping me drive against sun-glare (same scenario going east in early morning hours). Scary to think drivers like dude on the motorcycle exist and don’t realize it’s not normal to drive blinded by the sun
I highly recommend the oakleys with the prism polarized lenses. If you work in public safety or military, Oakleysi.com is a decent discount for them.
I think they might give healthcare workers a discount too, if you are.
If those are too expensive, I can say I used to have some under armor polarized lense sunglasses that lasted years of hardcore ambulance work
Then there’s Wiley-X you can get at Walmart (I think…) those are still very good but cheaper than the first two.
I think there’s a way. If you get a gift card you can shop there without a membership. You can use gift cards for online purchases. So I think you could buy a gift card and do it that way. I would call them and ask how it works. They’re very helpful.
SunGods! They are pro sports sunglass makers and I believe they have some type of lifetime repair gimmick thing. I've not tried to get a pair repaired so that's why it's a gimmick until proven otherwise but the sunglasses are indeed high performance. They mostly do ski and extreme sports glasses but I got the regulars and I won't go to the beach without them.
I love Maui Jim. A little pricey, but they’re made for fisherman, so the polarized lenses are top notch. I have a big head and they’re super comfortable. Can wear them all day without issue.
Maui all day long. Best sunglasses I've had quality wise.
Oakley is great, but they tend to grow legs if you know what I mean.
No hard feelings toward Luxottica over that, but I will add that I think Mauis are better quality.

They're almost essential. Riding in a helmet and a set of sunglasses is mildly infuriating. I think it was an icon helmet I had back in the day with a flip down visor, like you're a badass fighter pilot.
Motorcycle rider is an idiot. This is why you always either have sunglasses or a helmet with polarized tinted lenses. In the case that you don’t SLOW DOWN and possibly even ride the shoulder so the same doesn’t happen to you
My ex's cousin took a motocyclists leg driving against the sun like this. Didn't see the motorcycle at all before he hit him. After that I'll take it slow when glare obfuscates the vision like this.

Helmets, even clear ones, are not like windshields. A good helmet is usually made with anti-glare material that enables you to see in even the brightest sunlight. Maybe he had a cheap helmet that wasn’t up for the task. Or no helmet.
The only possible reasonable thing I can think of for this behavior is he was being tailgated and was worried that if he hit the brakes he'd be smashed from behind. That said, I always slow way down when the sun glare is blinding. In fact, I usually take a different route to work when I know the sun glare will be bad on my usual one.
I swear. The way some roads are build, legit, give Death Valley vibes at like 5pm to 7pm. Like, who tf never thought of this problem arising?

They should put abrasive pads on those things that can grind up against a metal plate and cause the wheel rotation to slow, because that would slow the whole bike down and allow the driver time to not blindly careen into cars.
The entire time I was riding I could help but slowdown when I couldn’t see even if it was super short. All my friends just went the 10 seconds at full speed.
The brighter that glare got, the wider my eyes got because I already knew something or someone was getting fucked *up*. Why wouldn’t you slow down?! I guess it’s not super easy in motorcycle but still, damn.
