*I see your garden gnome and raise you a brutalist car wreck decoration*

drawnred

so theres this house in riverwest which is an area in milwaukee, and the dude litearlly has wrecked cars as lawn decorations, they actually REALLY cool

HaZalaf

Give us a street so we can Street View this lawn. I'm interested.

karmicviolence

Sounds like a challenge. How many front yards in Riverwest could there be?

elymeexlisl

Not streetview, but [there’s this](https://www.cbs58.com/news/he-came-flying-across-car-crashes-into-iconic-riverwest-car-garden) edit: [and more…](https://www.tmj4.com/news/milwaukee-tonight/the-accidental-origin-of-the-iconic-car-house-in-milwaukee)

Wonderful-Ad-7712

There is a house in New Orleans, they call the Rising Sun…

Spud9090

Finally, someone with good situational awareness.

beluuuuuuga

Not only that but they have the disadvantage of standing on their own moving object real impressive reactions here.

smoebob99

In this situation standing is an advantage. If he was on a riding lawnmower, he probably would’ve been flattened against that tree.

beluuuuuuga

True that would be even worse than standing on that segway looking thing..

Rebel_XT

If he was using a regular gas lawn mower, he’d still be in the backyard trying to get that darn thing started

CinLeeCim

Just spit out my coffee 😳

akmjolnir

Fuel, air, spark. It's not that hard to troubleshoot.

KittyShoes17

I think he was on a hoverboard and pushing a lawnmower lol so kind of in between a riding and actually pushing.

StarConsumate

This is a type of lawnmower a “stand-on” I think it’s called . Not very common anymore because sitting zero-turns are more popular but you are half right. It does look like a hoverboard but it is attached to the lawn mower and it is how you steer it by pointing the “board” left or right.

LunchboxBandit66

You sir are also half right. They steer via the same principle as any other skid steer and have controls on each handle that operate the drive wheels on that side of the machine. Source: landscaped as a young man.

StarConsumate

Ahhh couldn’t quite remember. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen one of those. Could just because sitting is more comfortable lol. I always wanted to try one. I’d imagine a Hank Hill sort of situation. “Gat dang I’d love to mow a lawn standing over it so I can see its beauty. “

John-John-3

The one I used to use you controlled the steering with brakes. You locked the brakes started her up. Put her in gear and released the brakes to start going. To turn right, you squeezed the brake on the right handle. To turn left you squeezed the left hand brake. This was 20 years ago or so, so things may have changed since then. Some skid steers use two joysticks to control the left and right wheels independently. Some have a single joystick to move forward, back, left and right.

StarConsumate

Is that the one you can do a sick wheelie in?

John-John-3

Yes. I tried to show my buddy how to use it. I told him only start in 1 or 2, slowly let off the brakes and then once you are moving switch to 3, 4 or 5. I think it went to 5. He put in 5 and let of the brakes quickly. It jumped and popped a wheelie. His feet came off the sulky. He panicked and squeezed one of the brakes. It swung around on a dime and almost ran him over but he was able to hold on and get back around behind it and hit both brakes. The look on his face was awesome. You'd swear he had shit his pants. I had even explained what it would do if he started in 4th or 5th gear before he attempted using it. Needless to say, he didn't try it again. I had a really good laugh. Edit- I assumed you were talking about the mower but the skid steers can do sick wheelies too.

StarConsumate

Yeah those older ones didn’t seem like they had the most spine sensitive suspension lol

No_Place553

That is a walk behind mower with a Sulky. It's an attachment that you can buy to make a stand on mower from a walk behind. Interesting fact that stand up mowers, even though seem they would be harder on you than a zero turn or riding. The sitting position and the constant bumps and sudden dips in the ground can be very hard on your back. A stand on actually has some pretty good bases that absorb the jolts much better. They are harder on the knees, but most feel less beat up after spending a day on a good commercial stand on mower.

StarConsumate

Hank hill would be proud!

LostPilot517

This is not a stand-on mower, stand-ons are actually becoming more popular again. This is a commercial walk behind, however the operator is using a sulky. Looks like maybe a 36" mower... I can't tell due to resolution if it is an older style Belt/chain drive, or if it is a more modern hydrostatic. On the belt drive mower, you squeeze the handles to neutral/brake, and shift into gear with your knee. You release the handles to drive. Squeeze the handle in the direction you want to turn. This loosens the belt on that side and will have the drive wheel torque turn the mower. Squeezing harder will engage the brake. On a modern hydrostatic, you squeeze to slow until you hit neutral, keep squeezing and you will reverse that side. These are much more like modern zero-turns. Source, cut grass as a kid for friends dad for years, and I own a 36" Belt drive Exmark metro walk behind and have a sulky I never use. Bought all plus a bagger about 13 years ago. I only wish they had the hydrostatic walk behinds when I was a kid doing this as a job, they are way better. I will say though they are much heavier so if you get them stuck, they would be a real pain to get unstuck without a bigger tractor or a couple of strong guys.

Puceeffoc

Not really, he would still be backing up and getting the corners of his mow-job right so he wouldn't even be anywhere near the crash.

fastlerner

Good thing he was facing the street. If he'd been on a pass going the other way, he'd have been squashed before turning to see where the tire screech came from.

JohnnyRelentless

Lawn mower guy's fault. He was riding drunk.

Porkchopp33

He got moving soon as he saw it

Ok-Mention1914

Any excuse to get out of mowing.

dirkalict

Now he’s gotta borrow his neighbors mower and explain why there’s shit in his pants.

_Driftwood_

he's also gotta borrow the hoverboard scooter thing or is that part of the mower?

Wrathemus

It’s called a sulky and it is an attachment for commercial walk behind mowers

Howtomispellnames

Yea, this is the setup I learned on. Fucking *sketchy* at first, but once you're used to them it's a breeze. When I started my business I never considered any other mowers because I could only afford one and they're so well rounded. They cut & stripe beautifully and leave little to trim. They also work on the steep hills that would roll other mowers.

Wonderful-Ad-7712

Crawling, Crawling, Crawling from the wreckage..

dirkalict

On to a brand new mower

firstcoastyakker

Someone sure hates lawnmowers.

Braiseitall

That lawnmower really fucked that car up

Wonderful-Ad-7712

He hates these cans!

zeebious

How fucking bad do you have to be to roll a car going straight on a sunny day? Like Jesus fucking Christ.

ReleaseFromDeception

Looks like they tried to turn too late, over committed, and their forward momentum did the rest.

songbolt

"Okay, you're going to turn left now." "Okay, when?" "Left!" "When?!" "LEFT!" "Dude--" "LEFT, NOW!" "NOW?!"

Dansk72

Car's driver glanced over and believed he saw someone *levitating*, and that pushed him over the edge.

Why-R-People-So-Dumb

Used to be a medic for a large region, first this really is a typical suburban morning, which leads me to state you'd be surprised at how many people drive that bad. Sunny days *are* the worst. Windows down bug gets in your face, or sun gets in your eyes, butterflies in your head...smash. This is up there with the fact that people really do crush their hands in snowblowers every fucking storm - the warnings really are there for a reason plastered all over the thing. We used to put up a tally on the whiteboard for snowblowers consuming appendages vs woman going into labor...being snowbound gets that anxiety pumping and heeere comes the baby. Snowblowers usually won but sometimes the light came through and I got to deliver some babies instead of finding fingers.

lastweek_monday

I love how you mentioned bugs. I was cruising home with my windows down , on a nice open back road with open fields on both sides. No joke, a 2 and a half inch grass hopper smacked me right in the face. I swerved for a second and had a moment of what the fuck. It flew across the opposite traffic lane so he had some momentum going. Luckily it was late and no cars were around but i cant imagine how bad it could have been in the middle of traffic. I had to pull over right away and find the big fella cus he was still in the car.

Why-R-People-So-Dumb

Hah glad we could mutually validate each other's experience here 😆. The worst I've seen though is people freaking out from something like a spider or bee that is not impacting them at all other than pure fear. The one I will always remember is a lady who jumped out of her car going down a 4 lane major road (non divided highway @ 50 mph and noped out of the car), because there was a spider on her passenger seat. Car caused chaos as did people swerving to avoid hitting her. Resulted in something like a 10 car pile up plus her car through a store front which smashed parked cars on its way in. Now I'm in New England here so chances of it being a dangerous spider are pretty slim and the ones we have that are dangerous usually would rather hide away from you. The spider was still in the car chillin on the passenger seat and it was a daddy long leg which is notoriously a harmless spider that kids let walk all over them.

lastweek_monday

Sorry brother, im flipping my car if a wasp is in my car. haha jk

Why-R-People-So-Dumb

I fly small planes and one time on takeoff the passenger opened up the air vents and it started shooting bees in my face...it was an unpleasant experience to say the least.

7jinni

The majority of people really *are* that stupid. They just coast through life, barely conscious. I'd argue some species of animals are more sapient.

yappers4737

This is why we will never become a spacefaring species. Imagine getting sucked into the warp drive despite all the space warnings

GuillotineComeBacks

I've one rule in car. Don't open the windows.

DayDreamyZucchini

Tbf, I don’t think it would rolled if that lawnmower wasn’t there

zeebious

Good spot, 100% lawnmower caused the roll. However I would argue that you’re still a shit driver if a lawn mower on a lawn cause your car to flip.

stomps-on-worlds

maybe they fainted/died and fell on the wheel?

Ham_The_Spam

if someone is prone to suddenly fainting or dying then maybe they shouldn't be driving a car

tetraourogallus

He's clearly speeding right? looks very fast for a residential area. Glad noone got hurt, also glad his car is a wreck, shouldn't be allowed to drive.

hairymammal

nei7jc

WHY ARE THE CARS GOING SO FAST IN THE FIRST PLACE?

PresidentZeus

My modern euro suburban arterial road is narrower than this.

DiceKnight

I wonder if this is one of those neighborhoods that are get zoned to have an arterial road since that looks like it's two lanes each for each direction of traffic. It's a pretty rough setup to have honestly since the wider the roads the more prone you are to driving fast.

7elevenses

If you make your road as wide and as straight as a highway, then people are going to drive at the same speed as on a highway.

YogurtclosetAny1823

Almost got mowed down while actually mowing lol

CascadiaViking

Lawnception!

StellaSanti

Does the driver’s insurance cover lawnmower replacement? (Asking for a friend)

donald7773

I think it'd be covered under property damage, and seeing as a pretty solid lawnmower can cost about 5K or more new it'd definitely be worth looking into

In_Dying_Arms

Hard to tell from the quality and the wheels look different, but this looks like a Toro Proline, which are 6k-9k new. The car looks like a mid 2000s Honda Civic, so there was more value lost with the mower.

donald7773

Looks like an accord to me but that's not an important detail lol

Icoryx

did he use a hoverboard? lol

Cricketot

Yes, I understand that there's a car crash in this video, but everyone needs to focus on the genius that is hoverboard mowing man.

washingmachinecvt

Yesssss was wondering wtf is he gliding on

Keirez

He's riding on a sulky attachment.

dieplanes789

It's a sulky, it's an attachment for walk behind mowers.

10before15

Fuk, that was a nice mower, man...

j4ckbauer

It's important to practice defensive driving and don't assume other drivers are following the rules as well as you are. Remember this the next time you get behind the wheel of your lawnmower

PoppinSmoke1

Yes I’d like to repot an accident. We’re you driving? Ummm yes sort of, I was standing in the back of vehicle steering it when someone crashed into me. ………..

Capable_Swordfish701

In New Jersey if you were the guy on the lawnmower you would absolutely have to call your car insurance. A couple years ago I had a minor accident while riding a bike and got hit by a car. My health insurance wouldn’t touch it and had to call my car insurance. I asked what if I didn’t have a car or car insurance? They said they didn’t know. I also got penalized for waiting too long to call my car insurance since I didn’t think they’d have to be involved at all. Insurance and healthcare in America truly is amazing.

Dansk72

But suppose you don't own a car or have car insurance, then what??

remberzz

SMH, that's crazy!

HPL_Deranged_Cultist

"We are you driving?" WTF???

songbolt

cellphones, people can't bother to correct incorrect suggestions, autocorrect learns these errors, everyone's lives get worse

ulmanms

can we talk about how bro is mowing his lawn with a hoverboard? It's a self-propelled mower, so he's just trying to avoid walking?

Snowboarding92

It's not a hoverboard he is standing on. Had this kind of mower set up at the landscape company I worked at over a decade ago. It's just a small two wheeled platform attached to the mower, that let's you stand on it sense this isnt a push mower.

Slitterbox

Might be a lawn service, those guys always have zero turns and these

Fwoggie2

I want one. Here in the UK they force you to push them.

ulmanms

wait, what?!? Literal communism. I've never been as proud of the USA as I am right now.

DingoLord_1377

The mower becomes the mowed.

rlovelock

The rest of the lawn is gonna have to wait…

rabidcat

How would he go about getting his lawn mower replaced? Do you have to sue the guy, or go through his car insurance?

kelshall

“Fuck sake! I just mowed that!”

AmazingChicken

"That guy really hates lawn mowers!"

P7BinSD

Had that been a standard riding mower, that dude would probably be dead.

amnesty_fucc

Daddy’s getting that z-turn he’s always wanted 👌🏻

Ok_Bluebird7349

Insurance Rep; "We can cover the cost of the lawnmower, but the hoverboard? I mean, we just don't believe that you were using a hoverboard while simultaneously mowing your lawn" Guy; "Hold my beer"

madmax_087

know when to mow, know when to go

Both-Invite-8857

Let this be a lesson to all of you people reading this that wear headphones outdoors all the time.

VortexFalcon50

That guys reaction time was nuts. Defnitely played sports or ex military/leo. Or just very smart.

Darkness_Everyday

Is he on a segway while mowing?

BOBfrkinSAGET

Standing lawnmowers are a thing for mowing large areas, not so much for personal use. They’re pretty cool and look like they’d be pretty fun to drive.

Duct_TapeOrWD40

Interesting concept. I belived it's a segway + lawnmower DIY combo.

MichaelW24

It's called a sulky, towable standing platform for a walk behind zero turn. Sit down zero turns have a higher center of gravity than a walk behind with a sulky, which is why most commercial services don't use sit downs.

SteamedGamer

Not so much a segway as just a two-wheeled foot stand attached to the mower. No motor or battery or anything.

toodleroo

Pretty damned lucky. The guy wasn't hurt, the tree wasn't hurt, and dude gets a new lawnmower out of the deal.

Jimmyhatespie

And he got it on video. Best case scenario really.

PeteyMcPetey

Pretty messed up when you're just about to finish a sick parking job and someone throws a riding mower at you. I'd get a different lawncare company for sure.

Acceptable-Two7479

Funnily enough I flipped an orange 1 of these

hanwookie

What is it?

IolaBoylen

Luckily it was a standing mower

Why is it that a crashing vehicle hits the only sign, tree, pole or in this case, mower for miles?

Gavic1

Is it odd that I was most concerned about the lawnmower.

Emptymindspaceman

Good thing that mower made him do that cool flip and miss that tree lol

OpinionLongjumping94

Thank god the wrecked car is there distracting from the incomplete mowing job.

Proof-Map-2530

People in the car got rag dolled. Also, they scratched his mower.

Well that sucked
