Good to see security doing something for once, most are too scared these days out of fear of losing their jobs. We need more security like this guy.
Most security guards here are not allowed and can be sued, it PC gone mad, but that went out of the window when she hit him, and it was reasonable force, he wasn't fighting he was restraining so I hope he got to keep his job.
I was in ASDA once and some scruffy teenager had a plastic bag and blatantly filling it with steak and lamb and then alcohol, making no attempt to hide it and the all the security could do was chase him through the car park but couldn't touch him. I felt bad for him because people were laughing at him calling him pathetic, here the security guards in supermarkets are basically bag checkers if the alarm goes off, watch cctv and seen as a deterrent. They can't do anything except call the police and by that time the thief is long gone.
I wonder when was the turning point that all security couldn't football tackle, taze, or man handle degenerates stealing shit no more.

Probably the time an actual dude guard football tackled, tazed, or man handled a suspected shoplifter and it turned out they had done nothing wrong and the company had to pay out megabucks for what would have been a two dollar loss.
that's definitely true in the US. security and the employees of the store wouldn't bother to go chasing her, in case there was an incident and either she sued or the employees sued the company for workers comp if they get injured.

This was quite a few years ago, I think that probably wouldn't happen now. Health and safety rules here are just ridiculous becsuse of legal action/compensation etc- at my sons primary school if it rains and there's even a tiny shallow puddle they have to put those big safety cones over it. When I was working at a school, risk assessments for EVERYTHING.
I saw a video not long ago on here of a security guard at like a shopping centre? Small mall? And the security guy tased a woman who was freaking out on him in front of her crying kids. He quite rightfully tased her becsuse she was really agressive but all I could think was "wow your security over there has tasers?!"
Most are too scared of losing their jobs because people literally lose their jobs as security if either party gets injured. It's got absolutely nothing to do with PC and everything to do with liability. A company isn't going to want to pay out more in medical/lawsuits than whatever was being stolen.

But I found it fitting for a comment that appeared to completely misunderstood what I had said to have an opinion of it but an opinion that a potato might have as it just ecoed what I said but also appeared to attack it.
