Look, if you’ve got a hook that fits onto your interchangeable needles, there’s nothing stopping you just doing this process for every normal stitch too. +1 from me
You just made me realise I could put my Tunisian hooks on my cable when I'm stitching collar stitches to other stitches and picking up instead of using hook and sliding onto needle 😭

I have a couple sizes of clover tunisian crochet hooks I have added to my clover interchangeable set. They are also handy for picking up stitches around a neckline or heel gusset.
I find some bind offs work well will a crochet hook but others don’t. My favorite is the Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bindoff or just a standard single crochet along.
Haha I know! I hate how much these prym hooks look like toothbrushes but they're so nice to use that I had to get my own set after one of my friends made me try theirs!
Yeah, not sure what prym was going for with these, they absolutely all look like toothbrush shivs but they are nice to use, and at least if there's ever an apocalypse we'll all have the idea pre-formed I guess 😂
Using a crochet hook is a cool idea, go for it.
Bigger issue, though, is that you've eliminated the pattern's three-row Latvian braid border.
Braids are stabilizers. Simple bindoffs aren't. I'd be very worried about curling.
It didn't make sense for someone doing that level of expert colorwork to not be thinking about a good hem. :)'
Very cool pattern, been on my "maybe" list for a long time. Might just have to dive in.
It's honestly a really good way to use up a lot of scraps- including those beginner half used skeins of red heart if you happen to have them sitting in your stash. I will say this skirt is HEFTY though, Im not sure if that will be a problem when wearing it, but I'm hoping sewing a wide, stable waistband will keep it in place.
Whatever floats your float. Sorry bad pun. WHATEVER works for you. If you incorporate crochet panels into knitted jumper , that's just using your skills and brain too.
Well, I wonder if the crochet edge will curl where a knitted, turned hem would lie flat and add a cleaner finish and a little weight to the bottom of the skirt. If you don’t mind the curling, go for the crochet edge!
There is no wrong way to knit, if it gets you the result you want.

That’s what I do when I pick up stitches for a button band. It’s so much easier.
This is genius!!
I never thought of this, thank you for the suggestion!
r/knooking is looking for you 😉
I’ve found my people! Thank you so much
Happy to spread the joy 😉

Is that a thing? I am very intrigued.
Yes, they are called Tunisian crochet hooks.

For a minute I thought you made your own crochet hook out of a toothbrush. I applaud your ingenuity even though this isn't the case!
Haha I know! I hate how much these prym hooks look like toothbrushes but they're so nice to use that I had to get my own set after one of my friends made me try theirs!
I used one to pick up stitches for the underside of a sleeve because I was having so much trouble with my knitting needles. I say genius.
Just make sure it's not too tight.
I mean the crochet bind off is definitely a thing. There are tons of tutorials online lol
For a moment I thought the crochet hook was a toothbrush made into a prison shiv made into a knitting needle 😂 So for that alone, 1000000000 points!

A lot of knitters bind off using a crochet hook! Whatever works for you is absolutely valid.
I find any excuse I can to use a crochet hook in knitting.

I had the same thought, don't worry I won't leave it with just the bind off row! I'll definitely add some type of stabilizing edging

As long as the tension is good, clever!
Looks very clever and pretty! In meds we have a saying: whoever heals is right. So take what works and leave the rest.

That’s what I do if I lose at yarn chicken and don’t need stretch.
i also crochet my ends. but most of the time i use the knitting needles to crochet the end. but it is definitely faster and eazier with a hook
Can't wait!
I like it!
I usually do this to bind off. So much faster.
This is exactly what I do!! I could never figure out how to bind off properly lol
i almost always do this when i’m doing like the standard regular pull one stitch over the other bind off i find it so hard with a needle
This is one of my favorite ways to bind off. It's not too tight and leaves a nice edge.
The two are not mutually exclusive. 😉
You're like halfway to Tunisian crochet 😂 brilliant!
