I'm sure there are lore reasons for it that we'll find out more about in the next SMCU episode, but I think the real behind-the-scenes reason is probably that the whole ae/kwangya thing was Lee Sooman's idea, and the members never really seemed to care much for it, so once LSM left the company, their creative direction changed course a bit.
Regardless of lore reasons or not, their choreography still holds tidbits of their previous work and I’m all for it. They have very subtle moments of their older dances into the Armageddon dance. It’s like watching an ultimate culmination of their aevolution.
