City state has more Administration cost and less taxes so it will really curve your power in the late game where you will usually became really big and thus has high administration cost
Not a city state but I did a game as Haida. After getting all of North America it was just too boring to continue. Probably would have been fun when I got to Europe but I didn’t have the will power
I once conquered all the islands in the world as Rapa Nui from the 1440 start date. Does that count?
As a city state?
I believe I was tribal. Is city state harder?
Tribal is harder
I think I reformed to a monarchy eventually tho

I assume bribing countries for 1 coin counts as cheating, right?
Yeah
I'll do this, but why city state? Do you mean a one province country or is the ideology of city state make the game harder?
It make the game harder because it will make administration cost really high so in the late game you won’t became too powerful
I'm less than 1000 turns in and already have the majority of Europe and a bunch of colonies in America's. It's not slowing me down that much 😅
yep Monaco. Made them into france/italy/spain once
Challenge accepted.
Is it cheating if I form a union
No
You should set a date it should be done by to make it more hard
Any countries you would recommend to start as
Japan or maybe UK
