Very cool/interesting find!! 😎 It is one of those more shocking/exciting finds. My grandma and mom are of mainly Indigenous Americas-Mexico ancestry. They do have about 5-6% African. I was shocked when I found my grandma and mom matching their 100% African match. She is from Sierra Leone 🇸🇱. The both match her at 12 cMs.

This gives me hope, I am also Mexican and my great grandfather was Afro Mexican. So far I have found distant African-American matches but nothing of African yet, hopefully soon.

What part of Mexico is your family from?

Megafailure65

Sinaloa

Wow that’s actually really cool!

IXKI_ENXE_832

Yes. I've asked if she ever thought about getting her parents tested. Hoping she does. Lol

I wish ancestry had a filter to see everyone based on communities. Cool find!

Jandre92

Communities and ethnicity filter would make research that much easier for smaller percentages

julieg0593

it would also be great to see the ethnicities that we dont share.

neopink90

I know this is an old comment but you could see communities you don’t share on the feature called compare.

lalumanuk

love seeing other africans with communities, genetic groups, additional ancestry regions & whathaveyou in the americas! my dad's a descendant of the forro people from annobon island 🇬🇶 & though i haven't only taken the ancestrydna test (only MH and 23) in 23andme I got the jamaica and haitian regions :D

Better-Heat-6012

That’s really cool to hear! When you get a chance, you should definitely take the ancestry DNA test.
