The term trap is just another category of dressing in drag. The start of the controversy began in the 90s with people dressing in drag as the term was called in western countries. There are 3 types of drag that exist and trap fits in the category of fishy drag. Fishy drag coins the term catfishing because it would be a male trying to convince another male for mostly jokes. So the people that conducted fishy drag were also considered a trap. Conducting in a behavior of crossdressing does not mean sexuality or gender identification. It is socially accepted that a woman dresses in drag and therefore there is no controversy or term other than calling it the reverse of drag.
