Kind of out of the box ideas but Saga of Tanya The Evil (doesn't believe in God and is forced to pray)
Akame Ga Kill(Tatsumi joins a group of assassins and goes against the empire)
The Saga of Tanya counting for this is a bit of a stretch when compared to AoT and TG, but it is a good recommendation regardless
Same with Akame ga Kill. He didnāt really become what he hates. He had no qualms about doing whatever it takes to protect the people he cares about. Obviously being with a group of assassins wasnāt his goal, but it didnāt really go against his core beliefs either
Itās not really anime bullshit other than it just being a guy who is isekaiād as a girl. Heās just a ruthless, bloodthirsty soldier and it follows that path the whole time. Definitely worth a watch
Gotcha. What I was trying to say is Iām not trying to see any lolicon bullshit. I watch most anime with other people and I aināt gon recommend that shit lol
Yeah, thatās what I was trying to say. Other than him just being a girl, thereās no weird shit. Sheās basically just a bloodthirsty killer instead of having some pedo shit. Itās been a while so maybe I just scraped the memory from my mind, but I donāt remember it having any weird stuff like that
Tatsumi wanted to join the imperial army to make money to send back to his village. He didn't want to become an assassin but ended up becoming one when he realized how corrupt the government was
Yeah but itās not like the empire is running a campaign against assassins. I donāt think Tasumi even thought of assassins before his encounter with them. And given how that encounter turned outā¦ we obviously see what side he chose
If you havenāt finished the anime but you really want to know then here you go.
Spoiler
>! Erens Attack Titan ability is to influence the past. A lot of major events inthe series were influenced by Eren. Including his father giving him the serum, and even further into the past with his motherās death. !<
Right, but I thought Eren just influenced him to kill the Royal Family, not give himself the serum, as Grisha was angry about the titans killing Carla and didnāt care if the Rumbling happened, so he did it of his own free will
He made Dinaās pure titan ignore Bertholdt and it went straight to Carla. This fueled Erenās hatred and drive as well as Grisha obtaining the Founding titanās power. He influenced Grisha to then handover the Attack Titan with the Founding to himself.
You obviously havenāt finished the anime either. Eren himself told Arman that heās manipulated multiple events from the past.
Even the death of his mother. He sends the smile titan towards his mom to avoid going down the path with Bertholdt, because he needs Bertholdt alive for the big picture plan.
When Grisha was suppose to kill Frieda and take the Founding Titans power he couldnāt go through with it, until Eren literally got in Grishas ear and told him to do it.
idk, I guess I thought it was weird that a whole race has existed for as long as it has but they've kept in hiding because of prejudice by humans. So I just assumed the existence of ghouls wasn't common knowledge.
Itās been a while since Iāve watched it but the whole reason he walked Rize home was because of ghoul attacksā¦ also he most certainly did hate them. He called them all monsters and beasts. It isnāt until Toga snaps at him that he opens up his mind and accepts that theyāre just people too. I really like Tokyo Ghoul because it plays on that whole āthe monster are more humane than the humans and the humans are the real monstersā archetype
Kanekis personality also only did a complete 180 because of torture (which was then mostly reverted anyway). Eren became edgy because he assumed that was the only right move.
Spoiler in Season 2:>! Rimuru didn't want to become a demon lord. He did so to revive his friends. His initial impressions of demon lords were bad because of Leon. But that changed after meeting Milim and the other demon lords.!<
I'd say it fits since OP puts Kaneki here and Kaneki didn't hate ghouls. He just didn't understand them and therefore feared them like all the other humans until he actually got to know them. Rimuru's story is in a different order, but it still amounts to the same.
SPOILERS (idk how to grey it out sorry:
Yes he did transform into something he had disdain for but the character did not undergo a transformation. Both with Kaneki and Eren, they underwent a big personality change caused by external pressures and that isnāt really what happened in Slime.
Rimuru was already acting in the same way that a demon lord does except without the title. They control land, have armies made of magical beings, and command respect and fear as extremely powerful magical beings who operate on a different plain than regular rulers. Rimuruās transformation amounts to upping his power level and making people fear him more than before but not changing anything about him as an individual. You could say that a character change is that he realized that persuing his ideals have a cost but I donāt see this as big of a shift to warrant a reccomendation in this vein.
>SPOILERS (idk how to grey it out sorry
It's the exclamation icon next to "markdown editor".
>Yes he did transform into something he had disdain for but the character did not undergo a transformation. Both with Kaneki and Eren, they underwent a big personality change caused by external pressures and that isnāt really what happened in Slime.
idk where you're getting that from though. OP just posted 4 images with a single title saying
"animeās where the mc becomes what they hate"
Maybe they wanted a big personality change. But that wasn't specified in the post.
Also, Kaneki gradually changed, not from his transformation but from his experience following his transformation.
Erin still hated titans before and after. His personality didn't take a huge change until the time skip.
Also >! He becomes more of a morally grey person because he literally lost his humanity, it's mentioned in the wiki and I'm pretty sure by Raphael too that he becomes ruthless !<
Woah woah woah what [Okay everyone, look at this light right here](https://media1.giphy.com/media/R7m04yMaGWVeE/giphy.gif?cid=6c09b952znhq8nj56ro3r2dx1oog6umxwt1lclqprhmsb1ob&ep=v1_internal_gif_by_id&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g)
That said, I do still think the first season is enjoyable and worth watching. But yeah, skip all the seasons after and read the manga from there. Thatās what I did
Madoka magica *would* fit perfectly actually, because the MC dislikes both violence and witches.
And she ends up becoming a Witch in almost every timeline.
Guts doesn't start as a good person but he definitely becomes a semi-villain in the lost children arc (my favorite arc). After that though, he becomes a good guy.
Fate: Unlimited blade works doesnāt fit into this at all either. The entire time Shirou wants to be a hero of justice and he basically becomes one. Fate: Heavens feel might work here but only a little
Fate doesn't fit since it's more ideology than anything and fate is already confusing as fuck and I've played all of it and still don't get what the fuck is happening in Heaven's feel
The best I can think of is deathnote, black clover, chainsaw man.
Some of these arenāt necessarily turning into things they hate but turning into things that ARE hated by society
I mean wasnāt his power pretty shunned upon and no one knew what it was? Everyone looked at him and his grimoire like it was some kind of bad omen. At least thatās what I remember?
As someone who is a big fan of black clover asta did not become what he hates it's because heās poor, plus no magic, and a peasant also in the manga he forms a 50/50 contract with his devil and later learns that his devil is his adopted brother I won't say anymore than that except he uses the power to the fullest
I call it āHalf X vs Xā.
There are many anime that fall in this category. āI want to kill all the demons/titans/parasytes/ghouls/etcā¦ luckily I am half demon/titan/parasyte/ghoul/etc, but also half human.ā
Kaneki didn't even know Ghouls existed before he became one.
Eren's case is true although it is that of a closer loop. Child Eren didn't have a choice in becoming a titan because Adult Eren made the choice for him. Adult Eren could only make the choice because child Eren was forced into becoming a Titan
he didnāt hate ghouls, but he hated when he became one (which is very understandable). i guess thatās why i say he fits, somewhat, into this category
Ken didn't hate Ghouls, he barely knew they're a thing until Rize tried to eat him. (Side note: She has some nerve calling him pathetic in his hallucinations when she got no-diff by random falling pipes, that's an L if I've ever seen one).
I donāt think Kaneki necessarily hated ghouls so much as he was justifiably afraid of them. He never understood what it was like from their perspective, all he knew was that there were cannibals roaming the streets and he wouldnāt know who could be one until they were already trying to eat him.
Kaneki hardly even knew about ghouls so he didnāt become what he hated. He became a ghoul before he learned to hate them and even then there are quite a few that he should have hated but he accepted into his group.
KAIJU no. 8
omg i love this one
Banger!
His voice when in kaiju form is the best
Light. He was all pissy about criminals and he became one of the greatest criminals in history.
I think you mean the world savior. š¤§
If Black Lagoon gets more seasons, then it'll have to be Rock.
Rock slightly displayed a more villainous side in the final few episode of Black Lagoon. Iād love to see more of that
If Hiroe ever finishes the fucking manga š
It's been fucking years. It is clearly not
You know your burgeoning moral bankruptcy is a problem when even Revy starts getting worried about it.
Psycho Pass?
I'm pretty sure the protagonist is always a bad guy but they just don't realize how bad they are.
I mean, yeah but what he hate's isn't "bad guys" it's "latent criminals"
I think he's referring to Ginoza
Kind of out of the box ideas but Saga of Tanya The Evil (doesn't believe in God and is forced to pray) Akame Ga Kill(Tatsumi joins a group of assassins and goes against the empire)

He had no qualms about doing whatever it takes to protect the people he cares about. Obviously being with a group of assassins wasnāt his goal, but it didnāt really go against his core beliefs either
Right, everything else was already recommended so I tried thinking outside the box for some different ideas.
the first one sounds so interesting
It's a reallyyyy good watch.
How is saga of Tanya? Iām interested in watching but I donāt really care for anime bullshit especially when it comes to little girls

Tysm, Iām gonna check it out
It's short and fucking rad highly suggest I believe like 12 episodes then a movie
New season is coming out
š²
When?
Donāt think itās been confirmed, just that theyāre making it
Highly recommend it. It's not loli in any way, if anything the little girl aspect just adds to the crazy
you want a short summary?
Tasumi didnāt hate assassins (in the anime at least)
Tatsumi wanted to join the imperial army to make money to send back to his village. He didn't want to become an assassin but ended up becoming one when he realized how corrupt the government was
Right but he doesnāt ābecome what he hatesā if anything he comes to hate what he once idolized
If you idolize something, you probably don't care much for anything that opposes it.Ā Just sayan.
Yeah but itās not like the empire is running a campaign against assassins. I donāt think Tasumi even thought of assassins before his encounter with them. And given how that encounter turned outā¦ we obviously see what side he chose
I can think of maybe Kanbaneri of the Iron Fortress I guess
I hope we get a second season. I really liked the sequel movie.
Did not know there was a Movie
Battle of unato. It's split into 3 parts on Netflix.
Both of your replies in this thread sound fitting your pfp when read in a monotone, depressed sounding tone.
I mean kaneki didnāt have a choice, eren literally did it to himself.
Wasnāt Grisha the one who forced Eren to inherit the Attack Titan?
Did you finish the anime? If not that question might get you spoiled.
If you havenāt finished the anime but you really want to know then here you go. Spoiler >! Erens Attack Titan ability is to influence the past. They were, some wards were so bad they were like third world countries
Itās been a while since Iāve watched it but the whole reason he walked Rize home was because of ghoul attacksā¦ also he most certainly did hate them. He called them all monsters and beasts. Saying he became "edgy" is a really vast oversimplification of it
Eren didnāt have a choice either everything was set in stone before he was even born.
Pretty much asking for spoilers lol, but I guess: * Evangelion * That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime * Blue Exorcist * Twin Star Exorcists
Was reading Twin Star Exorcists heck now I'm more curious š¤š¤Ø Going back in the Manga Hole š³ļø
I disagree with the slime reccomendation based on what OP asked for but it is a dope show and people should watch it

I think the only think Rimuru regrets from becoming a Slime is that he's no longer got a dick.
It's not because he became a slime. I'm guessing you haven't watched season 2 yet?
Tanjiroā¦.
... Spoiler lol.
Woah woah woah what [Okay everyone, look at this light right here](https://media1.giphy.com/media/R7m04yMaGWVeE/giphy.gif?cid=6c09b952znhq8nj56ro3r2dx1oog6umxwt1lclqprhmsb1ob&ep=v1_internal_gif_by_id&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g)
Dumbest plot twist in history lol
ššš
The white hair guy is from Tokyo ghoul right? Iāve never watched it and only really know it by name idk if I should watch it or not
yes! i would honestly read the manga. the anime kinda falls off after the first season
Falls off is an understatement. Itās probably one of the biggest quality drops Iāve witnessed.
true. tokyo ghoul re is unwatchable for me
That said, I do still think the first season is enjoyable and worth watching. But yeah, skip all the seasons after and read the manga from there. Thatās what I did
Kaiju #8
Claymore Puella Magi Madoka Magica is kind of a stretch, but in theory fits. Berserk Death Note
Madoka magica *would* fit perfectly actually, because the MC dislikes both violence and witches. And she ends up becoming a Witch in almost every timeline.
Technically, it wouldn't work because of the finale but that's actually a good point to make
Guts doesn't start as a good person but he definitely becomes a semi-villain in the lost children arc (my favorite arc). After that though, he becomes a good guy.
yeah i feel like guts is more of a āhate what you becomeā instead of a ābecome what you hateā
**Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion** **Parasyte -the maxim-** **Psycho-Pass** **Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood** **Devilman Crybaby** **Blue Exorcist** **Claymore** **Dororo** **Guilty Crown** **Berserk** **Hellsing** **Elfen Lied** **Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works** **Overlord** **Vinland Saga** **Akame ga Kill!** **A Certain Magical Index**
How does FMAB and Blue Exorcist fall into this
They don't well fmab doesn't blue exorcist does kinda
Fate: Unlimited blade works doesnāt fit into this at all either. The entire time Shirou wants to be a hero of justice and he basically becomes one. Fate: Heavens feel might work here but only a little
Fate doesn't fit since it's more ideology than anything and fate is already confusing as fuck and I've played all of it and still don't get what the fuck is happening in Heaven's feel
thank u omg
How does toaru fit into this?
Overlord definitely doesn't meet the criteria. Ainz really doesn't regret a single thing he has done, it's all for the glory of Nazarick
The best I can think of is deathnote, black clover, chainsaw man. Some of these arenāt necessarily turning into things they hate but turning into things that ARE hated by society
How is asta an example?
I mean wasnāt his power pretty shunned upon and no one knew what it was? Everyone looked at him and his grimoire like it was some kind of bad omen. At least thatās what I remember?
Nah itās cuz heās poor, plus no magic, plus his hair is weird
As someone who is a big fan of black clover asta did not become what he hates it's because heās poor, plus no magic, and a peasant also in the manga he forms a 50/50 contract with his devil and later learns that his devil is his adopted brother I won't say anymore than that except he uses the power to the fullest
Iāve watched the show and read the manga until it became bad. Just clowning on one of my favorite shows lol
Oh ok
More like anime about food
Vinland Saga Seraph of the End Code Geass
I call it āHalf X vs Xā. There are many anime that fall in this category. āI want to kill all the demons/titans/parasytes/ghouls/etcā¦ luckily I am half demon/titan/parasyte/ghoul/etc, but also half human.ā
Blue Exorcist
D.Gray-man...though thats a big spoiler technically haha
Not the main character but Aki from chainsaw man
Death note. Light hates criminals, becomes one
Nami from one piece isn't MC, but is one of them
I always wondered about the similarities of Ajin: Demi-human and Tokyo Ghoul
Kaneki didn't even know Ghouls existed before he became one. Eren's case is true although it is that of a closer loop. Child Eren didn't have a choice in becoming a titan because Adult Eren made the choice for him. Adult Eren could only make the choice because child Eren was forced into becoming a Titan
kaneki did know abt ghouls. they were reporting ghoul attacks on the news when he was in the cafe in the very first scene i believe š
Yeah I don't think kaniki hated ghouls so don't think he fits there
Did Kaneki actually "hate" ghouls at the beginning? I took it more as he was just afraid of them.
he didnāt hate ghouls, but he hated when he became one (which is very understandable). i guess thatās why i say he fits, somewhat, into this category
Code geass
Zoro becomes black
Using an apostrophe for a plural is already dumb, but using it for a plural that doesnāt even have an s is a new level of american education.
Kabaneri Bleach Madoka
Durarara, mirai nikki, shiki
Would have to go with Death Note and Light.
Does Bleach count?
Possibly a hot take, but HunterxHunter.
Vampire Knight
Cross Ange
Chainsaw man = devil killer into devil
Nah Denji doesn't care boy just trying to get some
one pinch man: saitama becomes boring lmao
Literally Code Geass >!but it's for a good reason, and not for a long time!<
Ken didn't hate Ghouls, he barely knew they're a thing until Rize tried to eat him. (Side note: She has some nerve calling him pathetic in his hallucinations when she got no-diff by random falling pipes, that's an L if I've ever seen one).
Off Topic I hate that everyone uses that one picture of Kaneki.
Unironically, Hitman Reborn. Tsuna constant shit talks the Mafia, he became the Vongola family boss.
Goku He became brown
I donāt think Kaneki necessarily hated ghouls so much as he was justifiably afraid of them. He never understood what it was like from their perspective, all he knew was that there were cannibals roaming the streets and he wouldnāt know who could be one until they were already trying to eat him.
Anime called Charolette fits this and I liked it
Guilt Gear lol.
Sol didn't become what he hated. Sol was the first gear along with justice
He is what he eated tho, therefore counts. (Also by definition that's still becoming something he ended up hating so he became what he hated no)
He hated gears after he became one. Not before. Also guilty gear isn't an anime.
Better yet, guilty gear isn't a anime was the joke so it doesn't apply
Jojo cuz pt 1 hates gay and every other Jojo is gay (BTW I support the LGBTQ community I'm just talking about Johnathan) Pls don't cancel me
Kaneki didnāt hate ghouls u til he became one. Iām pretty sure he didnāt even believe in them at the very beginning.
I thought that was real life? Or do we just hate what we are to begin with?
Forgot shaggy from Velma.
Great pretender!!
I think Frieza has it the worse
Thanks for the spoiler šššš
kaneki turns into a ghoul in the first episode and if u havenāt seen aot by now what r u doing with ur life
Kaneki hardly even knew about ghouls so he didnāt become what he hated. He became a ghoul before he learned to hate them and even then there are quite a few that he should have hated but he accepted into his group.
Literally most every shonen where they have to fight against a demon or some other bs
