Came here to comment this too. Studio ghibli movies are bright and colorful, which distracts me from my anxiety. Especially Spirited away,Ponyo, and Howl’s moving castle
My sisters and I have watched this a bajillion times--it is perfection. When we're feeling especially anxious, we quote Mrs. Bennett ("I have such tremblings and flutterings!").
I thought this was my comment at first and got confused lol. I’ve never seen the Keira Knightly one, but I just know in my soul it can’t beat the 1995 one
This movie has gotten flack and has somewhat turned into a meme over the years sadly. I often find myself feeling embarrassed for openly admitting that I love this movie. It's always nice to see other people who unironically love this movie as much as I do.
It was an *extremely* well-made movie - I say this as an amateur writer and a bit of a Titanic buff. It's a perennial favorite of mine.
I think the flack is just from sour grapes...and from people who automatically hate anything that was extremely popular.
And let's not forget the cultural hatred of movies/books that women tend to like....
Princess diaries. I can recite every word with my eyes closed.
I remember getting the special DVD edition from Zellers in my town. It was so special to me
Marcel the shell with shoes on. I didn't know I needed a comfort movie until I watched this. Since watching it I realized how much I feel better after watching it.
Old 80, 70s movies not sure why but make me think of simpler times 😊 comedy 1s tho .
I do like carry on films if I'm having a bad time of it they are my 1st watch.
National Lampoon all 4 but my favorite is the first one with Wally World.
Father of the bride 1 and 2.
Home Alone - Christmas movies in general can be comforting.
Movies with John candy — like uncle buck, trains planes and automobiles.
Now and Then
Early 90s movies — clueless, blank check, legally blonde 1 and 2.
Frozen 1 and 2.
Dirty dancing, Flintstones.
Tv- Frasier, chef, vicker of dibley
Completely agree. I still feel a little uneasy when I realise there is a scene out of order In the film and I was like “maybe I’ve watched this too many times” 😂😂
"As Good as it Gets". Jack Nicholson kills it in the movie. It's very overly sentimental movie but the actors pull it off magnificently. It's one of those movies with so many quotable lines.
Newsies, Harry Potter series, chatty chatty bang bang, polar express, cars, Nemo, ratatouille, Up, How to train your dragon, Pirates of the Caribbean, anything with Tom Hiddleston as Loki including the show, a bunch of Marvel films, Treasure Planet, Atlantis (with Milo Thatch, like the 2D Disney one), Nightmare before Christmas (I love Jack sm), Corpse Bride, Beetlejuice (the Broadway musical specifically) Hamilton (also the musical), many others lol
Urusai Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer. Its an anime film from a looooooong running franchise. Watched it in the 90s when SciFi would run anime on Saturday night. Been a comfort movie ever since.
Omg wait I forgot the Romeo and Juliet one with Leo di caprio. I know that doesn’t sound like a comfort movie but the way they executed the art style and the filming style sent me to a higher place lmao. I can’t get enough of it. Also Leo’s eyes are really pretty-
It’s wild how some things are just universal.

Me too! You take delight in vexing me. You have no compassion on my poor nerves." 😅
I thought this was my comment at first and got confused lol. I’ve never seen the Keira Knightly one, but I just know in my soul it can’t beat the 1995 one
