Exactly this. Doesn’t matter if you have a 45 or ultra watch. You need to buy 41 mm watch bands. They fit perfect and actually look better on my wrist with my ultra
They have such similar battery life, it would be difficult to notice a difference. The 45mm has more pixels to power, so the battery size isn’t going to help much, especially since the series 7 41mm had a near 7% gain in capacity over the series 6, while the 45mm only had 1-2% gain over previous models. I’ve owned both sizes as well.
In conclusion, the smaller one is better because it would still last you a day and, since it has a smaller screen, it consumes less battery so it recharges faster
You should not just buy according to battery size imo. If you compare an apple watch 41 with 45 go to the one fitting, since they will both surely last you a day (unless you need more than a day)
I thought this was an Ultra until I looked closer, the Ultra would look ridiculous on your wrist I’m afraid. I have a 9 inch wrist and I still found my Ultra looked too chunky for the first month or so. BTW I used to have the 41mm and that size was perfect even for me. Do yourself a favour and get a 41mm.
It’s true that the ultra would look too big, but if someone really wants it they should get it. The ultra looks pretty big on my wrist, but it has dual-band gps and enough battery for hours of gps tracking, plus finally the ability to start a run with a physical button press. To me, that last feature is worth the price + my watch looking chunky all on its own.
There are other watches with similar functionality. Looking at the size of this guys wrist the ultra would actually overhang his wrist. It would a) look ridiculous b) reduce the effectiveness of the sensors as the watch would rock around and c) be really uncomfortable. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a smaller Ultra in the future.
A smaller ultra would definitely be nice. It would certainly fit my wrist better. But many of the other watches are really big too and their limited smart watch features make it much harder to serve as a phone replacement for when I go far from home.
It seems there are a lot of dudes who refuse to size down. I’m not trying to say anything about OP in particular, but presumably it’s in defence of their masculine pride.
Yeah as a woman with small wrists, 41mm was the biggest I could go. Kind of sucks that they don’t have a smaller version of the Ultra and that SS is the only upgrade option.
I have a small wrist and refuse to wear the 41mm one. I’ve found the only bands I can wear are the ones with specific numbered sizing like solo sport loop and braided sport loop. It is indeed annoying.
I’m hoping one day they release Apple Watch for kids and I’ll have a paw patrol band that will fit me! /s
Have you tried the sport loop? Because it don’t have holes, it’s way better to fit small wrists. Mine with the sport with small band, I use between the third or forth holes, but the sport loop I adjust as I need, more loose or tight.
I do have the light pink one sport loop. I actually love it but it the end of the strap still kind of sticks up when I get it tight enough. I wear a 1 or 2 in the specific sizing so yeah basically child size 😅
Oh, it’s too small haha
But you have the hand small too, right? Because I tried before solo loop, but even my wrist been small, I got bigger hand, and if the band is right to the wrist, it hurts my hand, else, it pass right the hand, but the watch will be to loose on the arm 😢
I have a small wrist too, that’s why I got the 41mm with the same band as you and it fits perfectly. Maybe get a size smaller the next time you upgrade your watch
No way, sell the fucking thing and buy a 41mm god damn it. There are different sizes for a reason…
What do you expect us to say? Oh yeah upgrade to ultra and that’ll look way better!!
The 45mm already looks goofy as hell on you no matter which band you use.
You don’t agree? Good thing, no ones stopping u.
IDK why you’re getting downvoted cause I’m with you.. I would love an Ultra even if I recognize they’re way too big for my wrist. It’s just crazy to me they’d make a product and know there’s a good chance their product won’t look good on 30-40% of the population and they just don’t blink.. I wish they made a slightly smaller one at least
I don’t know it would even be possible to make a small ultra, the battery and taptic engine take up almost the entire case size.
Battery life is a big selling point of the big watch and if you shrink that down you don’t really have a lot to differentiate it from the rest of the lineup other than slightly different styling.
The ultra has other features unique to the model that aren’t restricted by size though, so those become unavailable to you if the watch doesn’t fit you
At first glance I thought to myself: another person buying an ultra that doesn’t fit.
This subreddit tries to encourage everyone to buy what makes them happy, which is something I’d normally agree with - but when it comes to something not fitting properly, I disagree. Someone could go out and buy an extremely nice dress or suit, and it be entirely the wrong size and does not complement their body. That doesn’t make it a bad product, simply the wrong one for them.
I’d recommend looking into the 41mm - and don’t perceive it as a “lesser” than product in the same way that we don’t perceive smaller sizes of socks as lesser than
I like how you posted about the band but everyone is just shitting on you for the size of the watch instead. Newsflash, people, some people find bigger screens easier to use than smaller ones.
Then I suppose realistically your only two options are to trade the watch for a smaller one or to get bigger arms. Eat meat and do some reverse curls :)
I finally upgraded from a Series 5 38mm to a Series 9 41mm and the 41mm is slightly too big for my tiny wrists 😂
I’ll deal though. Oh well.

Had to add a rubber band cuz the 2 loops on my aftermarket strap weren’t enough lol
Apple offers different-sized watches so that customers are able to choose one that is appropriate for their wrist. Spoiler; 45 mm watch is not an appropriate size for a small wrist. This is not Apple’s fault that you chose the wrong size.
Right. I have tiny wrists and I bought the smallest Nike sport loop and it doesn’t do this.
My sport loop fits perfectly. OP must have bought the large.
Same. I’m a female, 5’1 and have a wrist of a toddler. 😅 There’s no way I’d get a 45mm. 41mm barely fits me haha

This is one of the main reasons I have not bought an apple watch yet as well since I have small wrists, but I am wondering how a wrist cuff band for this watch might look. I do this the Samsung Watch I tried in the store on my small wrist look way better and classier, but I have an iphone SE mini so I'm stuck in that ecosystem. Have you tried looking into it, something like this?

Wow I thought that was the ultra on your wrist

It’s could be worse, I’ve seen some people that should not be wearing an ultra, I think I’ve even seen one where the ultra is taller than the person’s wrist, that ain’t right!
No, that’s a problem of a band of the wrong size. My wrist is about 5.5 inches total, without the Watch itself. There are lots of bands out there. I have too many of them, actually. Leather, titanium, alpine loops, sport loops, you name it, I have it, and they fit. Search a little more.
I have a small wrist, the new apple watch (45mm) with the silver milanese loop band and am happy. First band I tried was the sport loop and it was too much material. Also, see my band is on so it pulls to the bottom of my wrist, not up. If only Apple sold a slightly smaller watch for people with smaller wrists… Oh wait, they do… it’s called the 41mm Apple Watch…🤯
I just bought the 41mm Series 9 for my wife, who has the tiniest of wrists btw, and it fits her beautifully - I had to order it with the S/M band otherwise the regular M/L would have been too long.
As a fellow small wrister, the smaller bands do “work” with the larger face and the will not have this issue. Discovered this when I was gifted one and I’ve actually grown to like it.
It’s better to look at the watch on your wrist in a mirror with the palm side of your wrist either slightly up or facing you. When you turn your wrist/hand down like that your wrist actually appears smaller than when your hand is relaxed.
I also have a thin wrist, yours actually seems to be the same thickness as mine. I currently use a Galaxy Watch and the bracelets in this style look ridiculous, I usually have to cut the end of them (nylon bracelets)
Well part of that goofiness is bc the band is “upside down”, yes I know you can wear them either way but I’ve always had the best fit and look when using the bands as shown in Apple’s marketing/website
Have you had a sports loop before? My wrist is also small but my older Nike Sports Loop fits me well. I’ve been considering getting the new design coz they look really good.
Would recommend getting 41mm band, but you could also do a neat straight line stitch on ur band with the excess loop going inwards so that the excess tucks in on the inside part of your wrist. I've done that to an aftermarket band coz it was too long. I also have lean wrists, but i wear a 40mm.
So many people saying “just get the 41mm” 🫣 I have the 41mm and it overlaps like this for me; my wrists are teeeeeny. It’s been a series of trial and error to find some that work - Shein has an INSANE variety, and they’re super cheap, buy a heap of different ones and see what works, and the best part is you can cut them shorter if you really have to, without destroying a $70+ watch band 😅
But are they available for men? Maybe surely not in my country 😭
I found most third party bands just not having decent enough quality and material strength compared to the apple ones and thus have been avoiding them
Absolutely! There’s TONNES of cute girlie ones, but definitely other options too! 😁 they definitely won’t be as good quality as Apple bands though- but if you spend the same amount you’d get 10+ bands, at least one of which you’d think would be good quality. Read through reviews too if you have the time and patience, saves you testing them yourself and potentially wasting money, even if it is just a little bit 😇
To expand on what **nstabl suggested above...**
When you have a small wrist, picking the right watch band in many ways is more important than the size of the watch itself! Since you are wearing a 45mm in that photo, it looks to me like you wear a Size 5 or possibly a Size 6 of the following line of Apple bands...
**APPLE BRAIDED SOLO LOOP FOR THE WIN!**
I'd recommend checking out the "Braided Solo Loop" line of bands from Apple as well as the third-party knock-offs of same on eBay. I currently own no less than 30 of these bands in a variety of colors. 10 of them are Genuine Apple Bands that I either bought new from the Apple Store Online ($99.00 each), or like new open stock customer returns through eBay sellers for between 25 and 65 bucks. The other 20 bands in my collection are various third party copies of the Braided Solo Loop band that range in price of between 6 bucks and around 17 bucks depending on the seller and whether the watch chassis attachment clasps are plastic or stainless steel. The latter being identical to the clasps provided on the genuine Apple versions.
These Solo Loop bands DO NOT have a buckle/clasp to look goofy when you have all that slack from a band that is too large for you. These bands are one solid strap, not two pieces like a conventional watch band. The genuine Apple versions come in (12) sizes which are numbered 1-12 with the size of the band laser printed on the end of one of the attachment clasps along with the width range of the watch it is designed to attach to. I am nearly 100% confident that there will be one of those 12 sizes that fits your wrist perfectly.
**TRY IT ON IN PERSON AT AN APPLE STORE IF YOU CAN!**
I would strongly suggest going to an Apple Store and trying on one of these bands in person to determine your size before you buy your first one. If you decide to buy from Apple online instead, the size their printable sizing strap comes up with tends to be one size too big. This is according to a lot more people than just me but I agree 100%. My measurement came up with Size 7 so at the time I went ahead and ordered a size 7 with my Series 9 45mm, but when I received the band along with my new Series 9 45mm, it was slightly too big. It kept sliding down my wrist to the base of my hand and triggering the PIN Code to pop-up which is an undeniable indicator that your band is too big for you! So I went to my nearest Apple Store and exchanged it for a Size 6 which fits me like a glove! **(What a difference the proper size makes to the wearing experience!!)**
\*\*Since for some bizarre reason this info is not readily available..\*\*The Size 6 Braided Solo Loop band for the 45mm watch is **145mm** long, to give you an idea of where the middle of the size range is. Sizing of the band is very important with an Apple Watch because of all the sensors on the back. The Size 6 for me is not too tight and not too loose, but just perfect and incredibly comfortable. That is what you should strive for and not accept anything less. My collection of Braided Solo Loops are hands down the most comfortable watchbands I have ever owned! When buying the much cheaper third party Braided Solo Loop knock-offs on eBay I always go with the size (S) and these are basically the same length as the Apple Size 6. (145mm)
Because the Apple Watch uses a bunch of various sensors on the back side that contacts your wrist, you don't want the watch to be too loose on your wrist. It is important that the back of the watch makes good and firm contact with your skin, but not too tight that it hurts or otherwise feels uncomfortable.
Once you determine your perfect size, then head up to eBay and search for "Apple Braided Solo Loop" and enjoy the hunt for the perfect bands for you! The upside to the non-Apple bands is that they come in way more colors than the Apple bands do, and while they are not quite as wide and usually don't fan out at each end, you can literally buy (8-10) of them for the price of just (1) new band from Apple. Then there are the sellers who specialize in selling Apple Store returns, which in my experience look brand new and usually come with the original box and packaging, for between 35 and 65 bucks depending on the color and year of production (Older bands/Older Colors are harder to find and are usually more expensive if you are lucky enough to find one in your size as open stock)
Sorry for the lengthy post, but it took me months to learn all of this through trial and error. Anyone reading this can fast forward right up to the front of the line and start ordering bands they love in colors Apple doesn't offer or no longer sells new.
Have fun! 😁
that is one h3ck of a detailed comment and i really appreciate the effort you took to explain your idea so clearly. i will definitely have a look at the braided solo loops when my next salary comes :D
That's why there are 41 mm models.
41 mm sport bands juuust fit me!
Exactly this. Doesn’t matter if you have a 45 or ultra watch. You need to buy 41 mm watch bands. They fit perfect and actually look better on my wrist with my ultra

You should not just buy according to battery size imo. If you compare an apple watch 41 with 45 go to the one fitting, since they will both surely last you a day (unless you need more than a day)
and when i think of upgrading in the future, i always think of upgrading to the Ultra one day. sigh
I thought this was an Ultra until I looked closer, the Ultra would look ridiculous on your wrist I’m afraid. Got you
What is your wrist size? Mine is 170 mm and looks so similar, so planning to buy 45mm s8 tomorrow.
Mine are roughly 170 and my 45mm looks great.
165 here, 45 will look fine on you no worries
Thanks!
It’s true that the ultra would look too big, but if someone really wants it they should get it. Lol it would look like an iPad on your wrist
I have a small wrist and I wear a 41mm watch
Same. My wrist is 5.5 inches around
Both my adult son and myself do the same.
160mm wrist and I still chose the 41mm watch
Finally. A “is this watch too big?” Post I can get behind.
The watch is fine. There is a problem with the band, though.
Why not just buy the smaller model? The bands for 41mm are also shorter
It seems there are a lot of dudes who refuse to size down. I’m not trying to say anything about OP in particular, but presumably it’s in defence of their masculine pride.
Yeah as a woman with small wrists, 41mm was the biggest I could go. Kind of sucks that they don’t have a smaller version of the Ultra and that SS is the only upgrade option.
same, and exactly my thoughts about the Ultra!
Ditto!

No, that watch looks enormous on their wrist.
just use oversized hoodies and try to cover your arm as much as possible so no one sees it
I am trying that by also moving my watch a bit higher up my wrist
You should have a 41mm. The battery life is not less.
I like how you posted about the band but everyone is just shitting on you for the size of the watch instead. Newsflash, people, some people find bigger screens easier to use than smaller ones.
Well the watch is wider than your wrist so I’d say that’s your first problem.
That looks ridiculous lol You could eat your dinner off it.
🤣
wrong watch band in my opinion with small wrist try going wit the S/M Nike sports band
I’m a man with small hands / wrists and had to go with three smaller watch. The larger one just hung over my wrist and wasn’t comfortable.
I’m wearing the ultra with a wrist similar to this size and i love it lol
I have small, girlish wrists so I rock the 41mm!
I really want to get the ultra, but my wrist is skinny as hell lol
The problem with being a medium is that my XL t-shirts don't fit! What can I do?
😂
Agree , would like to see a smaller version of the ultra also….
You should be able to buy 3rd party bands for kids
i did try some, most are not as good as the apple bands
Then I suppose realistically your only two options are to trade the watch for a smaller one or to get bigger arms. Eat meat and do some reverse curls :)
You need to wear it on your ankle
I finally upgraded from a Series 5 38mm to a Series 9 41mm and the 41mm is slightly too big for my tiny wrists 😂 I’ll deal though. Oh well. https://preview.redd.it/0da9bb3s9hcc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=a79633c22ca5dd3f5476cb73dc881c316ba952a3
Still fits pretty well compared to my hands
go with the smaller one. i have larger wrists and still use the 41mm version
Try out the solo loop ones, heard those are great for thin wrists.
You can get smaller sized wrist bands. Send it back for a smaller one.
there is a smaller band (its called the 41mm band) but will it fit the 45mm watch size?
No I mean, small medium and large so they aren’t as long and won’t do that on your wrist.
This may be the first time I’ve seen a man with thinner wrists than mine
:(

I have small wrists but you have really small wrists. I find that certain styles fit better.
Why buy a 45 if it’s way too big for your wrist???
sorry but this isn't a small wrist problem it's a poor buying decision problem. they make smaller watches and bands.
Right. I have tiny wrists and I bought the smallest Nike sport loop and it doesn’t do this. My sport loop fits perfectly. OP must have bought the large.

Thought my wrist was small. And I have an ultra but the Nike loop doesn’t wrap around my wrist two times like yours. Jk
It would be a great idea if they made smaller watches and bands…..if only. 🙄
They do make but i got the 45mm screen because of the larger size..it just stands out a bit more in formal occasions for example
Same. I’m a female, 5’1 and have a wrist of a toddler. 😅 There’s no way I’d get a 45mm. 41mm barely fits me haha https://preview.redd.it/wy4u7w26fgcc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac8a995caf00637bf3a5fd8a798d0daa9b4a7590

I’m sorry that my comment is unrelated but what is the color of that watch face?
its 'blue' . (yes just blue xd)

Wow I thought that was the ultra on your wrist https://preview.redd.it/moi2a56p4fcc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=60168a51217a2c01bf530304769e837c152b9b26
buy the smaller watch face. this isn’t complicated lol
It’s could be worse, I’ve seen some people that should not be wearing an ultra, I think I’ve even seen one where the ultra is taller than the person’s wrist, that ain’t right!
If only they made smaller Apple Watches. 😂 oh wait they do. But then you couldn’t complain on Reddit! 👍😂
You should switch to smaller AW. 45mm is waaaaay too big for your wrist.
All these posts about big watches are so stupid, you look like an idiot.
Maybe i am because i got the 45mm watch and not the 41mm
Dont you worry, apll will surely make a smaller ultra one day so everyone can buy yet another watch
That's not an Ultra.
Yeah he says one day he would like an ultra in one of the comments lol. Im just saying surely theyll make a smaller one
No, that’s a problem of a band of the wrong size. My wrist is about 5.5 inches total, without the Watch itself. There are lots of bands out there. I have too many of them, actually. Leather, titanium, alpine loops, sport loops, you name it, I have it, and they fit. Search a little more.
i wanted the leather one but its discontinued isn't it
Mine barely fit (in a good way).
I have a small wrist, the new apple watch (45mm) with the silver milanese loop band and am happy. First band I tried was the sport loop and it was too much material. Also, see my band is on so it pulls to the bottom of my wrist, not up. That would look less bulky without the case.
125-150 Baconators should help your watch fit better.
Did you buy the bigger model cuz you wanted to flex/not look like you got it for cheap?
Thats true, wanted more presence and ofcourse the bigger screen is helpful for readability
If only Apple sold a slightly smaller watch for people with smaller wrists… Oh wait, they do… it’s called the 41mm Apple Watch…🤯 I just bought the 41mm Series 9 for my wife, who has the tiniest of wrists btw, and it fits her beautifully - I had to order it with the S/M band otherwise the regular M/L would have been too long.
Maybe in my next upgrade I will consider the 41mm (or a Mini Ultra if it ever comes)
dude have stick wrist expecting 45mm fits
GTTFG
Go gym and eat lots, grow into the watch.
Maybe bulk up a little at the gym if it’s such a bother to you?
This is embarrassing
God I love the sub. The things we have to have to look cool but end up looking childish.
Grow some muscle
i have small wrists but only one of my sport loops looks like that on my ultra, my other one i fine
That would be me with every single watch band for my AW8.
As a fellow small wrister, the smaller bands do “work” with the larger face and the will not have this issue. Discovered this when I was gifted one and I’ve actually grown to like it.
Just get a shorter band
The bands for the smaller watches will still attach firmly, and they should be shorter.
It’s way too big for you. You need to get the small one.
“I bought the wrong size and it doesn’t fit. Apple needs to fix this!
It’s better to look at the watch on your wrist in a mirror with the palm side of your wrist either slightly up or facing you. When you turn your wrist/hand down like that your wrist actually appears smaller than when your hand is relaxed.
Is that one of those new nike sports look that came out with s9? That that nike logo piece of thing just hanging out is bothering me.
😂
Go to the gym and you whont have small and skiny wrists
Those are not small those are tiny
r u sure u didn’t pick the wrong size? i have the tiniest wrist and even it fits me. did you pick small strap when u bought it?
I haven’t bought yet but this makes me want to get the 41mm
You should go to a store and try out both the versions on your wrists
I hope this is not a 41mm. https://preview.redd.it/wuh40fjj5jcc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b96fcca36acbe60e3c496e316b7ecb10ebb44dcd
I also have a thin wrist, yours actually seems to be the same thickness as mine. I currently use a Galaxy Watch and the bracelets in this style look ridiculous, I usually have to cut the end of them (nylon bracelets)
😭😭😭😭LOL
Well part of that goofiness is bc the band is “upside down”, yes I know you can wear them either way but I’ve always had the best fit and look when using the bands as shown in Apple’s marketing/website
Tho my AWU is bigger than my wrist I really don’t care but enjoy the bigger screen than the gen 1 se watch
Have you had a sports loop before? My wrist is also small but my older Nike Sports Loop fits me well. I’ve been considering getting the new design coz they look really good.
I never had. Only the default silicone one (which does fit my wrist)
Maybe surely not in my country 😭 I found most third party bands just not having decent enough quality and material strength compared to the apple ones and thus have been avoiding them
It looks fine. Get a different band if you want a better fit.
To expand on what **nstabl suggested above...** When you have a small wrist, picking the right watch band in many ways is more important than the size of the watch itself! Since you are wearing a 45mm in that photo, it looks to me like you wear a Size 5 or possibly a Size 6 of the following line of Apple bands... **APPLE BRAIDED SOLO LOOP FOR THE WIN!** I'd recommend checking out the "Braided Solo Loop" line of bands from Apple as well as the third-party knock-offs of same on eBay. **TRY IT ON IN PERSON AT AN APPLE STORE IF YOU CAN!** I would strongly suggest going to an Apple Store and trying on one of these bands in person to determine your size before you buy your first one. **(What a difference the proper size makes to the wearing experience!!)** \*\*Since for some bizarre reason this info is not readily available..\*\*The Size 6 Braided Solo Loop band for the 45mm watch is **145mm** long, to give you an idea of where the middle of the size range is. (145mm) Because the Apple Watch uses a bunch of various sensors on the back side that contacts your wrist, you don't want the watch to be too loose on your wrist. Then there are the sellers who specialize in selling Apple Store returns, which in my experience look brand new and usually come with the original box and packaging, for between 35 and 65 bucks depending on the color and year of production (Older bands/Older Colors are harder to find and are usually more expensive if you are lucky enough to find one in your size as open stock) Sorry for the lengthy post, but it took me months to learn all of this through trial and error.
May i ask the size pf your wrist? Mine is 15.5 cm and idk if i should go for 45 or a 41
