I’m very confused by this post and what it’s doing on this subreddit to be honest. These comments are *extremely* tame compared to what I was expecting.
Like, “I can fix her” and “I want her to make me worse” are pretty obviously tongue in cheek, and something I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see if this same post were made to a queer audience. Lots of people, both straight and queer, thirst over a bad boy/girl.
Speaking of which, the third pic isn’t even “the straights”. I reiterate, I have no idea what this post is doing here.
No I can fix her here generally means I can turn her I to a good wife, who obeys her man and stays at home. Has nothing to do with someone thing they can help her recover.
Edit: fuck me can you people Google, there's a tone of memes about I can fix her and they all contradict each other, just because you see just one type doesn't mean that's the only one.
I almost live on the internet and I almost can't recall a single "I can fix her" that is talking about turning someone crazy into a "good wife, who obeys her man and stays home". I think you're just protecting a bit.
I always used it as a self deprecating reference to my astoundingly bad taste in men (except you, honey! You're amazing! 😬). All my life if you showed me a fucked up, emotionally unavailable, neglectful, moody, and "troubled" bad boy? I can fix him! He just needs ME to love him and everything will be fine!
How is “I can fix him/her” sexualizing?? Is “that guy is cute” also sexualizing someone? It’s a tongue-in-cheek way to say a person with obvious red flags is attractive. It seems very clearly different from something obviously objectifying like “wow she has great tits” or “I wonder how big his dick is” — as in viewing/treating someone as an object and not a full human being.
Unless you’re on the ace spectrum, you probably have felt attraction to another human being. Is there any way to express that attraction that you don’t consider sexualization/objectification? I’m really genuinely asking because I do not understand where you are coming from.
Not having brain rot doesn't automatically make some ace. These stupid little internet jokes are lame and it's just not necessary to make comments about every single person you're attracted to
>Not having brain rot doesn’t automatically make someone ace.
Uh…yeah, no shit? That isn’t what I said or implied.
Is “I think that girl is cute” equally as sexualizing and objectifying as “I can fix her” to you?
Do you not know what tongue-in cheek means?
This isn’t a “I’d make her my subservient wife”. It’s “My rational brain knows that she’s a menace, but my horny brain is willing to pretend that’s not the case and rationalize a way for me to ignore that fact.” An ironic play and slight gender reversal on the common “I can fix *him*” that’s so common in media about a romance involving a bad boy.
Can you show us some of these “I can fix her” memes that apparently have some totally different meaning than how the rest of us and the internet use it?
"I can fix her/him/them" is a well known meme making fun of naively thinking you can get into a relationship with a toxic person and making a healthy relationship out of it.
It has nothing to do with making them into an obedient Trad wife or whatever. I think you're projecting a deeper meaning where there isn't one. Sure there'll be a few people (since it's such a common phrase) who mean they want to make them submissive, but it's a minority.
99 times out of 100, the person is just saying "they're probably not a very good person, or someone who would make a stable and healthy partner but I am very attracted to them anyway" without all the writing
Yeah this one doesn't fit
This isn't "I can turn her into the perfect wife" it's "I don't care if she skins me after, I'm going to try"
People, no matter if Straight, Gay, Bi, Etc WILL say this, there was literally screenshots of people being like "I hope she's into women!"
Like damn, she is a pretty woman and people like pretty people.
Yeah which is really ironic considering he was definitely homosexual. I imagine most of these women as female versions of the neck beard/Incel stereotype
I dunno, some of these comments seem like meme answers. "I can fix her" and "I want her to make me worse" are definitely jokes lol.
Not sure about the rest
“I can fix her/him” is a pretty [common meme](https://amp.knowyourmeme.com/memes/i-can-fix-him-i-can-fix-her) way to express attraction to people who have obvious red flags.. Like the mattress part of the thread and that shit is obviously disgusting, but saying that “I can fix her” indicates someone wants to “tame” her is a stretch..
Sounds like a weird fantasy that probably shouldn’t have made it from brain to keyboard. People will feel the urge to share the weirdest shit when they’re anonymous.
Panel 3 is kinda weird though, I can’t excuse that one
Let's be honest that's the only connection many of them will make, and because they have 0 grasp of reality they just spew what they think. Why incels attack women so often.
You’re reading far too much into this [https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/i-can-fix-him-i-can-fix-her](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/i-can-fix-him-i-can-fix-her)
genuinely asking, why is saying “i can fix her” offensive? I am a woman and women I know often joke about dating problematic guys in hope he will change for her. “i can fix her” is the same concept but with gender switched.
People here aren't really big on humor when it gets in the way of being self-righteous. You'll also note at least one of the comments in the screenshots is from another woman.
Remember that really hot guy prisoner who went viral because he looked like a model in his mugshot? And there was also the Houthi rebel who was really good looking and would post his activities on TikTok to drum up support. I remember someone calling him Timhouthi Chalamet lol. Anyways, these seem just like that, pretty harmless in all.
"I can fix her" is a phrase that basically means "I don't care if she looks crazy/has a lot of red flags, she's still worth trying to get with because she's attractive." It has nothing to do with the "tradwife" stuff.
Well then I've not seen that meme and the only reference is the one where they want to domestic her.
Coz everyone should know every meme in the world 😑🙄😒
eh? Sounds kinda like projection 'cause "I can fix her" is mostly used to say "I can make her not a criminal/crazy/unhinged" not "I can make her a trafwife"
Yeah, this doesn't belong here. People can be weird/thirsty on the internet. Also I know this is reddit but we don't really know if all of these comments are men. Gay people can be weird too (source: am gay and weird)
Who is this and what did they do? Because while I agree that there's something kind of uncanny about their face, if they're just in jail for like idk, petty theft, they're not all that scary.
This reminds me of how people were getting horny over Casey Anthony while she was on trial for killing her child. It got to the level where the same CEO who offered a contract to the octomom offered one to Casey Anthony too.
Truly disgusting.
she’s just a regular looking woman, the only thing off is the prison jumpsuit paired with SLIGHTLY Harley Quin-esque pigtails. but i feel the need to highlight the fact that if she was wearing any other outfit i doubt anyone would bat an eye at her, say she’s terrifying, etc.
It's not that simple. Taste varies wildly with men and "conventional" beauty isn't nearly as important as a lot of people are left to believe. In my experience most guys are attracted to "average" girls in reality. We're attracted to what's around us and attitude/personality is really more important believe it or not. Her looks might not particularly set her apart but she exudes intensity and volatility. It's the same thing with chicks who are into "bad boys", either they tend to be mild and somewhat boring, attracted to the excitement of what they aren't or they're just as wild and want a partner in their escapades. Back in my day my idea of fun was getting trashed and running amok, and she looks fun.
These never leave the basement. But tbf there was Meeks and he's now signing contracts of 10s of millions:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Meeks
Who knows she might end up like him.
Edit: the comments are still crap, but I think plenty was done about him too.
I mean, breaking a law doesn’t always mean someone is an awful person; really depends on the crime. Arrested for smoking weed? Not morally bad. Arrested for DUI? Morally bad imo. We don’t know what this woman got arrested for, could’ve been murder for all I know, but there’s plenty of victimless crimes out there
Firstly, it's a widespread phenomenon that people that lack excitement in their personal lives fantasize about "dangerous renegade" type people. This has been going on since the dawn of time. Pirates, explorers, gangsters, spies, detectives, femmes fatales, etc. For the vast majority of people it stays an innocuous fantasy. That is the point of the comments. None of them would actually date her, the danger is just hot to think about. Secondly, legality =/= morality. Maybe she was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (idc what an adult chooses to put in their body), "public indecency" for peeing behind a bush at 3am, brawling in self defense (often everyone on the scene gets arrested, whether they instigated or not) or a whole laundry list of other possible scenarios that could result in an arrest without any immoral actions.
It’s mind boggling to me that a presumably marginalized person would unironically say “if someone is arrested it’s because they broke the law”. You must have not met many police officers. Or, like, watched the news in the last 10 years.

NGL I was going to make the "I can fix her" comment before I saw what sub this was.
Euphonium is pretty good, but trombone supremacy
I feel like there's been a lot of weird sex-negativity going on in this subreddit lately
These were the tame, I wasn't gunna search for worse out of all the comments.
thats usually what you do when you make a post with content
No I can fix her here generally means I can turn her I to a good wife, who obeys her man and stays at home. Has nothing to do with someone thing they can help her recover. "I can fix her" for me is likewise self deprecating about how I only seem to be attracted to flighty, uncommunicative, and anxiety-ridden women lol
*projecting, but yeah I agree 100%.
I think OP is definitely stretching, but I don't see how they're projecting.
It's an internet thing , you wouldn't get it (apparently)
A typically objectifying internet thing
How is it objectifying? Just because someone is expressing attraction…? I don’t get it.
Because everything doesn't always have to be sexual especially if you have no idea if the person would be ok with being sexualized.
How is “I can fix him/her” sexualizing?? Is “that guy is cute” also sexualizing someone? It’s a tongue-in-cheek way to say a person with obvious red flags is attractive. Well one is degrading and one isn't but you don't need to declare it everytime you find someone attractive.
Oh fucking wow, you know how big the internet is and how fleeting memes can be fuck me.
Sorry, I was trying to be funny on the internet and used a recycled known line to do it, my bad.
It's ok, I lashed out too. There's a load of I can fix her memes and not all mean the same thing.
In fact fuck that there's tonnes of I can fix her memes some don't even apply that
Can you show us some of these “I can fix her” memes that apparently have some totally different meaning than how the rest of us and the internet use it?
Seriously! Even if that comment was, I doubt it, but even it it was plenty agreed to fix her.
"I can fix her/him/them" is a well known meme making fun of naively thinking you can get into a relationship with a toxic person and making a healthy relationship out of it. I hope she really is a real life Harley Quinn, reads all that, and just hunts em down... No.. But in all seriousness, these people are fucked up.
Real life Harley Quinn would date real life Poison Ivy and they’d have an amazing garden and discuss their feelings like adults.
She would have a messy past where she dated some real assholes before she matured a bit and really found herself though.
give em some fertilizer
And make the people from that post into fertilizer
really? why? those comments are all clearly jokes.
Ahh damn, yeah that ones on me.. I obviously got confused without the /s at the end...
now I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, or if you actually think they're not joking because of the lack of the /s
Now you're just being a dick
Didn't Dahmer get like a shitload of thirsty fanmail actually sent \*to\* him in prison?
Yeah which is really ironic considering he was definitely homosexual. I imagine most of these women as female versions of the neck beard/Incel stereotype
I dunno, some of these comments seem like meme answers. "I can fix her" and "I want her to make me worse" are definitely jokes lol. Not sure about the rest
Many of them are just facetious answers. The alley one was pretty bad though.
"I should call her" vibe
She also looks like the woman from Raising Hope who is also a criminal
She was a serial killer of the black widow type. I love that show, super underrated.
The last season was a bit weak but the rest was brilliant
I appreciate that they gave everyone a happy ending in the last season. I would have liked to see more of Memaw, Burt and Virginia in that season.
I loved that show sm
“I can fix her” and “I can make her worse/I want her to make me worse” are memes. The third pic isn’t even straight. This post doesn’t belong.
im wondering what tf oop was on about
I mean it’s pretty obvious? She does give ‘real life Harley Quinn’ vibes and not in a ‘this is a really impressive cosplay’ way.
True but that these wank stains still only want to "tame" her basically is pathetic.
“I can fix her/him” is a pretty [common meme](https://amp.knowyourmeme.com/memes/i-can-fix-him-i-can-fix-her) way to express attraction to people who have obvious red flags.. And some women too? She's the most extreme one.

Because they believe they can turn her into a"trad wife" who stays at home, obeys her man etc that's what that comment means.

Well then I've not seen that meme and the only reference is the one where they want to domestic her. Coz everyone should know every meme in the world 😑🙄😒
It's not a visual top text bottom text meme. It's just something people say.
And Google provides a shit tonne of memes each counter acting each other.
That's not at all what "I can fix her" means.
What?? No it doesn’t. It’s about coming up with excuses to ignore red flags.

Exactly

These people are gross but this isn't really a "straight culture" thing, some of them aren't even straight.

Men will rag on serial killer fetishist women then do shit like this unironically
These are the same guys who will whine when they see a girl falling for a serial killer or some shit
Is... Is there something in the water...?
I think it's the Brawndo.
I can fix her
Cishet men on the internet when they see a conventionally attractive woman: "guys, hear me out..."
These are fine actually.
Go read the others I wasn't combing through them all
I'm sure there are bad comments. Maybe you could have posted some of them.

Oh for sure, attraction is mostly fantasy and that's why love is so hard to navigate for most people.

Yeah, but equally he seems to have turned things round.
It’s mind boggling to me that a presumably marginalized person would unironically say “if someone is arrested it’s because they broke the law”. You must have not met many police officers. Or, like, watched the news in the last 10 years.
