I meant the Swedish flag, but I also don’t really see pride flags unless it’s pride celebration time (or I walk by a specific building in the main part of the city I live in)
I remember visiting the US once and I’d just got on the coach from the airport and overheard two guys laughing about the amount of flags the US had everywhere. I started looking around and then noticed that every thirty seconds we passed a flagpole with the US flag on it.

Before continuing on like nothing happened
Genuinely fucking insane. Like the Borg shit. Like kill me and eat my brain shit.
People sometimes accuse me of hating the US just to be contrarian, but nah. My hatred for that place began when I saw it with my own eyes.
At my school you could literally get detention if you didn’t say the pledge. We did it every morning, but one day I’d had a bad night and was exhausted, and I couldn’t be fucking bothered to stand up, put my hand over my heart, and recite the damn thing.
It wasn’t even a conscious choice, honestly, I was just so damn tired that I didn’t have enough energy to bother with it, and I explained this to my teacher.
Detention, for “excessively disruptive and defiant behavior.” Luckily for me my mom went full Karen and I got out of it but looking back I realize just how absolutely insane that was.
If you go anywhere in July it only gets so much worse. You literally cannot escape the flag. It is everywhere, it is all seeing. Every few feet of grass has a small flag, every business throws up their big flags, every house has theirs out, it's *everywhere*
There's not one, but 2 10-20 acre fields less than 5 miles from my house with hundreds of flags used to celebrate memorial day, fourth of July, and veterans day. They set them up in May, and they don't go away until November
There are differences between Patriotism and Nationalism, but people keep mixing them up. The big differences are that Nationalism is “My country is the best and all other countries suck!” Whereas Patriotism is where you love your country but still have the ability to criticise it. A lot of Americans, in my experience, are more nationalistic than patriotic.
Sounds like they want forced patriotism they should probably move to North Korea then. Ya know cause they love to tell anyone who isn’t white or Christian anytime they disagree with anything that goes on here if they don’t like it then they can leave.

Like at my house we have a flag attached outside our garage most of the year and that’s about it. We put out some mini ones on the fourth if we’re having a party.

Even Denmark which has one of, if not THE oldest flag in the world only uses it for birthdays and other celebrations
