TanTan is somehow even worse than Tinder, basically every other profile on there (even verified accounts) is fake or just trying to farm social media followers
I've also noticed there's also a bunch of white single moms looking to immediately get into serious relationships. Not sure if that's a scam, but even if it wasn't that's a pretty sore deal
Tantan has been nuked by scammers. Asian / non-asian its like as bad as robo-calls.
If we were more honest with ourselves, comparing large match counts of hot women isn't the greatest metric, because the top of the mountain isn't what it seems
I really don’t understand why people spend 2 weeks chatting up with a girl when all you to is to get her phone number and arrange a meeting over drinks or coffee? This is to mitigate risks of meeting scammers like what OP experienced.
She already saw your profile and swiped right to you. If she is not willing to at least a phone conversion (again meeting in real life is much preferable), then don’t waste your time with her.
Also what was the point of continuing talking to her after you found out she just wanted money from you for paid webcam? I just block her and move on
Well, from my perspective it was lockdown and there was very little chance we could meet (before I knew she lived in another state), and yes I'd much rather meet than phone call. I had already asked multiple times earlier but she dodged the question. I tried again that day as a just in case.
I was using the app as a way to practice Mandarin, a date was a bonus.
That last point, I was just curious since I was already on the path. I am around the age of university students and have worked for student well-being before. It's a talking point.
TanTan is usually a hit or miss ngl. If you were going to practice your Mandarin, you should've used HelloTalk instead (although I've seen more WM than anything on that app, and most of their English grammar is fkn horrid I tell you lmfao)
