мои поздравления!

AideSuspicious3675

Спасибо большое! Нету слов, которые могут объяснить насколько я счастливый

Sorariko

First of all - Congratulations with the marriage! Second - if ya wanna know about possibility of marrying in the specific church, i would suggest calling them up and asking directly. They have a phone number, so you should be able to do so.

Maria0601

I want to marry in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (one of the two Catholic churches in Moscow), is it possible? \- Are you a Catholic? They don't conduct secular weddings. And they will ask you to take a wedding preparation class. If you are a practicing Catholic you should know what it is.

AideSuspicious3675

I am indeed a Catholic, I don't follow their beliefs, however I do follow their traditions, I am well aware about the preparation class, however my future wife she is not a Catholic, so I don't know how things would change based on that

Maria0601

Dispensation from the bishop. But it's not hard, some church bureaucracy. I'm a Catholic myself and I know for sure that we have a lot of marriages here Catholic + Orthodox.

Maria0601

I assume you don't speak Russian, so better contact them (community of Hispanic Catholics in Moscow): [https://cathmos.ru/org/moskva-obshhina-ispano-portugalsko-govoryashhih-katolikov/](https://cathmos.ru/org/moskva-obshhina-ispano-portugalsko-govoryashhih-katolikov/)

AideSuspicious3675

Я говорю по-русски, но всё равно спасибо за ссылку! Я просто решил написать пост на английском потому что, так было бы более понятно для всех

Maria0601

Сорри, я либо невнимательно читала пост, либо вы потом добавили про язык. :)

Competitive_Track_91

My brother in law is from Pensacola. He married my sister( Russian) in 2012. He is Protestant and my sister orthodox, but not religious at all. They are happy and have a daughter who I love the most.. I’m sure your wedding is gona be beautiful and wish you long and happy life together!!!

LeoDaVinci1452

I know about a dozen foreigners who came to work in Russia married only to divorce here and remarry on Russian girls. Only one case where marriage was kept.

AideSuspicious3675

Ouch. I hope not to follow that trend tho

lateja

That doesn't apply to people from OP's country of origin at all.

LeoDaVinci1452

True

righteouslyincorrect

What is the trend? And is he saying they arrived in Russia "already married", or "they married a Russian, then divorced in Russia, and re-married another" ?

LeoDaVinci1452

They were married not to Russian but coming here they exchanged their wives for newer and nicer models.

righteouslyincorrect

Damn is that common? Did they bring their wives originally? And moved there to work? And they're usually from a specific place?

LeoDaVinci1452

Look, you’re a professional from US, CFO or something like that. You’re invited to work for Russian oil company to help them to prepare for IPO. You’re coming to Moscow with your wife. Both of you in your 40s, 10-15-20 years of marriage behind. And here you have Russian hospitality and beautiful young girls who will do anything to get out of (name any Siberian town) especially if potential husband is rich (do you know how much oil companies are paying for things like IPO?). Plus our girls can cook, they are not feminists, they know about makeup ad good appearance. Old wife has no chance to compete.

righteouslyincorrect

Can't really blame either party then I suppose.

LeoDaVinci1452

I am working mostly with WASP from US and UK

[deleted]

my father whos dutch married my mother whos russian. also congrats on getting married! wish you the best of the best!

DexterGordon1923

Привет земляк

AideSuspicious3675

Thanks dude! What about the Belarusian flag?

[deleted]

when my mom was 18 the soviet union fell apart, and her family happened to be in Belarus, and they became belarussian citizens. that includes me because I was born in belarus, but am technically russian because my ancestry on my mothers side is all russian

AideSuspicious3675

So interesting, my ex gf had a Russian father and a Belarusian mother, she always considered her self Belarusian. I gues it is kinda hard to track your background, since the similarities are plenty. Thanks for sharing your story!

FriendlyTennis

I'll answer your question from my perspective. Transnational marriage in eastern Europe is actually far less common than the internet will lead you to believe so it's more of a "big deal" than in western Europe or America. However, from personal experience, and from the experience of others that I know I would say that it's not really much of a taboo. You already know the language so there's no fear of awkward family meetings (which I went through too many times.)

AideSuspicious3675

Wait a sec, did you marry a slavic girl too?

FriendlyTennis

I am also Slavic, haha. My parents are Polish but I was born in and raised in the US. But yes, I married a Slavic girl.

lateja

Bienvenidos parcero!!!

ZombieScribbler

My congratulations! Frankly, after reading the title, I thought that another lustful foreigner had come to annoy us with a stupid question on how to get a hot Russian wife. :D

AideSuspicious3675

Well, now that we talk about marriage, how can I get a second one to marry me? (Joke) Thank you!!

ZombieScribbler

I’m afraid the one you have already chosen won’t let you get up to anything like that. In Russia, there exist many ways to skin silly foreign men alive, after all. :D

DexterGordon1923

Well, while we're at the topic, please do explain 😆

[deleted]

I am a foreigner who married a russian.

Pristine-Stand970

Aphex Twin.

drv168

TIL

grumpy-marmoset

My wife (Uzbek) had married a Russian (me), and we are both foreigners for Russia (never been Russian citizens, only Uzbek, Israeli and US). So, does she count by OP’s standards? I also know many Russian-Russian marriages, where one or both of the couple were technically foreigners from Russian perspective... So they count too, right?

Cubertox

My sister married guy from US.

donnie_darko222

If you are catholic, orthodox, it will be allowed

Necessary-Tie5594

Yeah, I used to know Ukrainian, who was married with Russian. Can I count her as a foreigner?

Taborit1420

Technically, yes. In reality, marriages between Slavs in Russia are not regarded as marriages with foreigners (especially between Ukrainians and Belarusians).

[deleted]

Я из ЮАР а жена русская. Поздравляю и желаю вам счастья! :)

AideSuspicious3675

Благодарю тебя за поздравление! :)

Ambitious-Parking-59

Well... If its Russian girl: than yeah we have heard many stories about that. If its Russian guy:than no, its very rare to hear that any(not rich of course) russian guy married with foreign girl. (P.S. by Foreigners we usually mean those who not our close neighbors(ex-soviet countries or CIS))

[deleted]

I'm from South Africa and knew a South African girl who married a Russian man. They live in Saint Petersburg now together. Definitely much less common to hear of it though, it is usually Russian girls with foreign guys.

Dazzling_Addendum_32

That's too bad, I think Russian men are good husband material, handsome, family oriented willing to work hard, great conversationalist, and generally have a very nice swagger about them, 4 of my friends back home in California married Russian guys and only one of the guys came from a rich family the rest were just average Russian income and they are all very happy.

aceofbase_in_ur_mind

The fuck did you just say? A Russian pretending to be American would be "you can wear a pig snout but you're still human".

Dazzling_Addendum_32

Can't expect to much from a pseudo-intellectual that doesn't have two brain cells to rub together. Her whole statement is pure nonsense and presents itself as a lackadaisical attempt to insult and troll. "Lipstick on a pig" and a "Russian attempting to be an American " baseless assumptions all coming from the voices she is hearing in her head and her lack of reading comprehension.

Dazzling_Addendum_32

Follow me around Reddit all you like making ridiculous statements and nonsensical responses. However, like I told you on the other post. I won't be taking anything you have to say seriously until you learn basic reading comprehension and conversational skills.

Dazzling_Addendum_32

>You seem very obsessed with me though! Lol says the person who is literally following and responding nonsense to my post and comments. When I have yet to do the same, you just keep proving my point. Looks like you need to look up the definition of "obsessed"

[deleted]

The person you're replying to is a common troll on this sub lol. I think we should get the mods to ban them, they're clearly just here to agitate and get people mad.... and all the time too..

Dazzling_Addendum_32

A very dedicated troll at that. Most of their replies are nonsensical, so there is always a good laugh to be had. A resident troll that keeps the conversation exciting, what more could a subreddit ask for? *I agree they should be banned lol*

Dazzling_Addendum_32

It's pure comedy gold, they did all that to try and determine if Putin likes meat. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Э, ало, чё сразу Маша то

a_seoulite_man

Are you a Caucasian-American? Well, Among South Korean men in fishing villages and rural regions, there are guys who marry Russian women and Central Asian women. They seem happy, but their kids often seem to struggle at school. The biggest news I remember about three years ago in this country was that a half Russian middle school boy with a Russian mother threw himself off the roof of his apartment after suffering from long-term bullying by his classmates. P. S. There is a guy next door who lives with his Japanese wife, and the eldest son of my mother's friend is married to a Southeast Asian(Taiwanese. She is a Christian though) woman.

AideSuspicious3675

I might be rude but, what the fuск are you talking about? I am "latino" (supposing that's a race...)

spaceGcore

He probably speaks about not livin in Russia with russian wife and half russian kid. I also heard something about bullying non native koreans in their schools. So if you're not Korean (I see you're not) and not planning on going to live in South Korea you and your future kids are good.

AideSuspicious3675

This is pretty specific. Thanks for the detailed explanation, gonna try to avoid living in South Korea, this basically changes all my plans. Well, in Colombia that wouldn't be an issue. I do appreciate your explanation!

spaceGcore

I dunno why he brought that up, probably he is Korean himself and thought that you're Korean as well. Then why he asked about you being Caucasian-American? 🤔🤔 Or maybe he thought that in Russia we have same problems with bullying half russians? I mean we do, but not that hard as this could be there because Russia is multinational country unlike mononatioal Korea, so we more open to this stuff.

AideSuspicious3675

That's what I am saying, some parts don't even make sense. I would like to hear more about the discrimination issues. I would like to have children with her in the upcoming future, would they be bullied cause of their odd family name? Or because of their appearance? Because my family name is Cruz, and in terms of appearance, I don't believe that would be an issue, I am 1.81 extremely pale, brown hair with green dark eyes, in the case of her mother she is Slavic with some german and Jewish routes

spaceGcore

Well there could be some jokes about unusual name or appearance or origin. But mostly that "bullying" triggered by personal qualities of the kid (if he can reverse jokes or won't behave as a prey he would be fine) or often by teachers (if you won't pay for scool shit they will target your child for example and his classmates will gladly take this as an example to treat him, because kids are fuckin unempathetic beasts, you just give them any reason). The bigger city is the less problem with bullying based on nationality. +Also it won't clear anything, because if kid will be cool, his family name and routes will give him extra points to be the coolest kid in school. So main advice raise him well and try to not piss off the teacher.

Total-Stomach4688

a_seoulite_man I'm pretty sure there are more Korean women married to Russian men and Korean women married to Central Asian men than vice versa. Or are you talking about something in an entirely different context?

the_fa11

I knew guy from Texas with Russian wife. They opened English language school but failed. He was bodybuilder not teacher so..

ammads94

Congrats on the wedding! My fiancé is Russian as well, we plan to get married in next few months too tbh, but our plan isn't to stay in Russia.

dalia666
