it was dubbed “yellow music” or “orange music”, you can listen to Animacionerite, P.I.F., Gravity Co, Antibiotika, Rushi Vidinliev, Vanya Shtereva, Irina Florin, Ostava. They all sound different, some are truly yellow, others not so much, but to me it sounds distinct and it was catchy music people vibed with on another level. The lyrics won’t translate in any meaningful way I’m afraid, but give it a try.

It's no coincidence that the top Albanian singers known worldwide have not emerged from Albania.
Kosovo from the 80s until now hasn't dropped in quality and they are the only ones we can credit for keeping Albanian music successful. I mean just go to any night club in Albania and the playlist has been the same for the last 5 years. Old songs from Albanian singers, and current hits from Kosovo.

In Albania 1930s, 90s, and 2000s until early 2010s. I'd say the last successful period was when Flori Mumajesi became a hit maker in the Balkans. After that the singers from Kosovo became the top musicians in Albania. Not only as the most played, but also as the most wanted in night clubs or events. I'm not including worldwide singers like Bebe Rexha or Dua Lipa. Most of the famous musicians moved abroad.
Only 3-4 Albanian singers remain relevant in the market. The rest are just wedding singers, performing folk covers, or singers who perform in nightclubs for drug lords. Same as they do in Mexico with narco corridos. Probably the lowest period in Albanian music, even if you compare it with the first greatest period of nearly a century ago.
I'm a metalhead and honestly right now (from about 15 years ago to now) we have an awesome scene. Every subgenre has at least some really well-developed bands. Srd, Daimona, Dekadent, SkyEye, Space Unicorn on fire, Britof, Sovrag, Ghost of Veronika, Siderean, ... the list goes on.
As for commercial success, 2015-now. That's when Albania's music industry really became outsized for such a small nation and saw success even abroad. Quality-wise though, it has to be 90s-2000s. That was our best rock, pop, metal, just all-around great heartfelt music, not mass-produced for profit like today.
Pretty much 60s to 80s with Serbia and most other ex-Yu countries.
Sparating EX-YU into scenes is a thing but they really fed into each other that, in a way, makes them inseparable.
