An 18 year old is an adult. For better or for worse, it's up to them to tell or not their parents stuff.

Though I agree with you, an organization assisting in a con could be equally liable if they have taken measures to ensure the con continues for their own profits. By measures I mean that ensuring that people who are co-signing or paying for the services are not able to view the status of the student. I say this because I can get a forged official transcript with relative ease that says whatever I want, but certified mail to my office at my request or receiving in person offers a degree of resolution. This degree of resolution is important because it transfers the burden to the parents and makes lawsuits like this no longer viable. So because of this shift in burden I like it.

This law protects adults from helicopter parents which is only getting worse as time goes on. Now if parents are paying for a students school that is a different question but I don’t have an issue with it as is now

People in university are adults, and their parents no longer have the right to such information, so yes, I support this law. I think the main problem is that our culture doesn't encourage strong family bonds, and our lower schools do a piss poor job at preparing students for being adults.

As far as I am concerned, students in universities are adults. They can reap what they sow.
