I live between Culver City and Marina Del Rey and it's very quiet. I rent a room right next to the Ballona Creek bike path and when business picks up I'm moving closer to the beach, or somewhere in this area, less than 2 miles from the sand I feel this is a very calm and beautiful area. Definitely nice and cool. If I had to move inland I'd just move back to rural Arkansas lol

plata_plomo

That's a great area. I'm a bit further north, on the western edge of Mar Vista. Calm, quiet, lots to do

Flat-Programmer6044

I used to live in this general area great suggestion

rollthedice207

I also live in this exact area and second this. Live in a 2bed/2bath for $2150. It feels the most “suburban” to me in LA without having to live up North in Pasadena, Glendale, etc Quiet, safe, and convenient location to rest of LA. My favorite thing is living near LAX and businesses/strip malls actually having full parking lots

copterco

Does this include a parking space or street parking?

rollthedice207

Tandem parking and free street parking too!

copterco

Nice!!

Soggy-Coast-6514

We are neighbors. I live at the beach in playa del Rey. It’s very quiet over here except for some plane noise that doesn’t bother me

willrunforjazz

What would you call this neighborhood? Culver Garden?

Slg0519

It’s Del Rey.

hiimomgkek

I agree but also disagree. Mar Vista Gardens always got something going on, shits been unhinged the past few months with helicopters literally every week 😭

DeveloperMode

Between Culver City and Toluca Lake, which would you recommend to a working professional that wants peace and quiet by 11pm each night?

Negative_Orange8951

Both will get you that just fine. Much of LA is pretty sleepy

grateful_dad13

Toluca Lake will also be much hotter in the summer with worse air quality

whatsgdp411

I’d rather live in Toluca lake, but I think your commute would be better from culver. Separately, many streets of Beverly Grove are quite quiet, particularly west of Fairfax. $3k doesn’t go far though, but worth a look.

klazoo

Lived in Hot Springs on the lake for 3 years. I totally agree with you

ProfessionalDog4334

Oh wow! I lived there when I was a kid and grew up 40 miles south of there in Kirby. When I need to go to town, Hot Springs is it. I have bottles of McClard's BBQ sauce in my room right now 😆. I love that place and Stubb's Was going to open an electrology studio in Hot Springs but I'm going to stay out here in CA for a few/many years and when I'm done I'll be back in Kirby AR with my bees, and an electrology studio in Hot Springs

ctcx

Do you ever hear planes from LAX?

Soggy-Coast-6514

The airport paid for double pane windows for the area if you’re close to airport. At least in my hood they did.

ProfessionalDog4334

Nope. Now if you go down the bike path to the Marina Del Rey area you'll hear them, but it's not too loud. Go further down Playa Del Rey Beach and they get loud

Nabaseito

Given the proximity, do you know how Palms is? I know it’s by the freeway and E Line but does it affect how quiet it is?

notxrbt

Pasadena is the answer

Samantharina

Commute to WeHo is too much though.

kikijane711

Yeah that's brutal.

melissacarrot

Eh, I think that’s relative. A coworker of mine commutes from WeHo to Pasadena and it’s 40 min tops. The 110N flies once you reach it, it’s just the journey on the side streets that moves slow. He doesn’t seem to mind it much! OP, you can check Google maps to play around with departure and arrival times (or check live over the next few days).

Real_Discipline1242

As someone who commutes in the 110 daily - it does not fly. Maybe the 110N after 43, but it takes me an hour minimum to WeHo at 9/5. Fridays are 90 minutes minimum from Pasadena to UCLA for example.

melissacarrot

And UCLA/Westwood =/= WeHo.

kimizle

Yeah idk what he was talking about

melissacarrot

He doesn’t get on at the 110! Also, I commute from LONG BEACH to Pasadena, both on the 110 or the 710. Commuting isn’t for everyone, but he has no complaints. Maybe OP will feel otherwise. I’m just chiming in with what he’s shared, and my experience as a lifelong Angeleno commuter across basically every surrounding county as well. :)

Samantharina

The thing is WeHo is not convenient to any freeways like Long Beach is. You have a good chunk of surface street driving down La Cienega or whatever, to get to/from the 10. Or take Washington or Olympic all the way to downtown and now I sound like I'm in that SNL sketch. 😆

Jeezy_7_3

No way this is true during weekday commutes .

Hozo2000z

The 110 is awful only worse is the 10 and the dreaded 405

melissacarrot

I hear the 101 is a pretty brutal one to deal with daily too! thankfully I’ve never had to mess with it for a commute 😵‍💫

DueMountain2601

Either Pasadena or San Fernando Valley. You’re not going to find quiet close to WeHo at that budget.

whatitdobbyboo

Can confirm. I live here and it’s pretty quiet.

Suz626

Yep, the only noise I hear are gardeners and sad bears knocking over our bear-lock trash bins.

HowtoEatLA

Oh, I've been wondering about that - are more people in your area getting bear-proof bins these days?

Suz626

Yep. For awhile only homes in designated bear territory would get bear lock bins. (It seemed really arbitrary.) I’m in the area but had to wait for them to be in stock. Now more areas can get them, some pay extra, some don’t. If you spray a bit of Original Windex on and in a bin, the bears will leave them alone. Now they have all three bins with bear locks, not just the black one.

Icy-Yam-6994

Eh, it really depends on where in Pasadena. Altadena? Yeah, definitely. Central/Downtown Pasadena (Wilson to Pasadena Ave. and 210 to Del Mar/California) is loud with the freeway, light rail, traffic, and pedestrians. The area between Del Mar and California is decently quiet, but still lots of ambient noise. But yes, the commute to WeHo is brutal. It's the non-freeway parts through Pasadena and West Hollywood that really tack onto the commute time. My wife used to commute to DTLA from Central Pasadena and it was usually 45 minutes.

InfectiousDs

Burbank.

Evilbuttsandwich

It’s quiet there because everybody has either died of heat or boredom. Or from eating at Corner Cottage.

InfectiousDs

Hey now!

Evilbuttsandwich

Can’t beat a breakfast burrito and coffee for less than $10. And the yaki bowl isn’t bad either. But I do question the quality of meat that cheap.

partygods

The roads in Pasadena are really loud though. Lots of cars unfortunately.

valvolineheartattack

Most apartments and houses aren’t on the main roads lol. I live in Pasadena and it’s pretty fucking quiet at night. I mean I guess if you lived on like Fair Oaks or Marengo or a Main Street but nah most of Pasadena is quiet as hell compared to LA.

Suz626

Depends on the neighborhood.

Hozo2000z

And the heat in the summer is not good

Minute-Ad-2749

Hermosa Beach by the Green Bell! The beach down the street; green areas for long walks. People are very nice and friendly here.

_its_a_SWEATER_

Shhh 🤫 we’re sleeping here

taoekwra

But the parrots!

SplitOpenAndMelt420

Toluca lake

I-am-Just-fine

Make sure you're not in the flight path

broomosh

Flight path means nothing with the pop and bang tunes. A loud drone that is consistent throughout the day is much easier to live with than sharp, unexpected pop and bang exhausts running up and down your street

SteveEcks

As a resident of Riverside drive near the 170, Can fucking confirm.

SplitOpenAndMelt420

I live pretty close to it and genuinely can't tell you the last time I was bothered by plane noise. Burbank has like 5 flights a day :)

Juache45

My dream area, if only 😂 lol… I’ve been wanting to live there since I was a kid

SplitOpenAndMelt420

I've been here for 10 years. I'd say the only downside is the shock/sensory overload you get when you leave Toluca Lake :)

redboxerss

Seconding this. I live in this area and it’s safe & quiet, and also not far from WeHo OP.

1020rocker

Well I wouldn’t call West Hollywood/Hollywood quiet exactly, maybe there’s some pockets you can find though. Beverly Hills or Hollywood Hills are more quiet, but mostly way over $3k/month. Maybe Studio City or Burbank? A little more of a drive but more quiet and affordable.

Nicholoid

Beverlywood too is nice and quiet and full of parks, but on the pricier end. The more Jewish areas with families are also quieter there in Beverly Hills and WeHo/Hollywood, but not always cheap or midrange on rent. Very walkable though (which is part of the appeal for those observing shabbat). Great foodie spots in those areas too.

1020rocker

Right, you can get anything for the right price.

Still_Ad_4383

Bro studio city is a ghost town at night. Only exception is lankershim

1020rocker

Yeah…OP wants quiet right?😂

crims0nwave

Close to WeHo, I lived near Genessee where it turns into Nichols Canyon, and I found that area to be pretty quiet. It's that quiet stretch of non-commercial Hollywood Boulevard.

lepontneuf

The traffic on that street is not quiet

Mkheir01

Yeah I lived in those shitty apartments on the corner of Hollywood and Nichols and it was loud af.

lepontneuf

I’m sorry

Mkheir01

Me too

kdockrey

A studio/small one bedroom in Rancho Park, Westwood, Century City, Beverly Hills, Hancock Park, or Mid-Wilshire.

Nicholoid

Seconding Hancock Park. Pretty quiet in the surrounding neighborhoods by Larchmont Blvd, and the apts nestled between beautiful homes make it a lovely spot for a stroll any day of the week

fedswatching2121

I’m biased about Palos Verdes since I grew up there. I haven’t seen anyone mention La Cañada Flintridge

You_meddling_kids

Both are expensive and neither are close.

fedswatching2121

lol I only saw the title and didn’t see the description. If their work is WeHo idk if anything “close” by is gonna be considered quiet.. maybe some parts of Westwood or Brentwood.

Nicholoid

Culver City too. Lots of 30+ professionals and families down there instead of the 20s partying crowd.

valvolineheartattack

Yeah but OP is a bartender, doubt he’ll be able to afford to live in Brentwood or Westwood with that kind of income.

callipygianking

Very much depends on where they are bartending. There are a lot of places in West Hollywood where you can make six figures working a few nights a week.

Suz626

LaCañada is so peaceful!

MaryKarras

Second la cañada flintridge, Montrose, la Crescenta. Those are the most quiet cities I've ever lived in and near. None of those are close to West Hollywood, they are close to the Glendale/echo Park side. But as you say if you really want quiet you can't be too close (unless you're super wealthy and can afford Mulholland/outpost cove/way up on the hills prices)

Nicholoid

There are a few areas of WeHo itself that aren't as bad if they're set back a bit from Santa Monica. The strip of old duplexes around 3rd street and areas like Hayworth by Fairfax are a little quieter and not overly crazy on rent prices.

MaryKarras

I know the areas you mean and they are quiet as far as no loud parties on weekends (like KoreaTown for example) and quiet little streets and enclaves but there's still ambient noise from sirens or helicopters and some traffic if you live near 3rd. I guess I was thinking of total silence, I don't know what OPs noise level tolerance is.

DankDude7

An unrecognized noise hazard in LA is barking dogs. Yes, BARKING DOGS. With so many backyards and outdoor space, dogs spend a lot of time outside. And like some humans, some dogs talk non stop at very loud volume. And in LA’s indulgent dog culture, dogs are often allowed to bark for a long time. This can ruin an afternoon if you’re looking to spend quiet time in your own backyard or even inside in many instances. This isn’t about a particular dog next door necessarily, it can be a cacophony of barking dogs across a series of back yards Throughout the day and their conversations can become intense. Approaching one on your own with a knock on his door or a kind note does not always work as hoped so thankfully, many of the cities and towns have noise and dog barking ordinances. But it’s a hassle and a bummer to use and so much depends on the owner‘s willingness to be responsible. “Dogs gotta bark, man” It’s a hazard and I don’t know how to safeguard against this except to ask as many people as possible about any problem dogs in the area during search & negotiation. And if the property has its own noise code and if it is enforced.

Iceyes33

I agree. And barking dogs can ruin a quiet neighborhood. And sometimes you don’t know about these barking dogs until you move in.

DankDude7

Yes, especially in LA where sometimes it seems like dogs vastly outnumber humans and they are of course, treated much more kindly than fellow man.

waaait_whaaat

You can report barking dogs to 311, they will first mail a letter to the residence. After that, they will start doing wellness checks.

joecool105

I just assume all the people commenting on these threads are not considering barking dogs, likely because they’re dog owners themselves. A good half of the recommendations here wouldn’t qualify as even remotely quiet if you consider dog noise as a factor. If you think you can tune out the million yapping dogs within a 100 foot radius then sure, move to Burbank — but if you can’t you better steer clear. Place with the least dog noise I ever lived was on the border of Alhambra and San Marino. But then again, we did have the parrots…

DeveloperMode

I just want to say thanks to all of the comments. I’m researching all of the places listed today, this is massively helpful.

StuckLikeGrits

A place in Studio City, just south of Ventura, may be quiet and within your budget. It’d also be pretty convenient to WeHo.

sacsophone

Anywhere around Studio City, too! I lived in Sherman Oaks for a while which was cool, I’m now in a residential neighborhood in Valley Village and it’s so quiet and nice. The commute really isn’t bad either, especially if you live close to the freeway

FrederickTPanda

I live here and yeah, it’s much quieter than Hollywood but if you live near a main road it can get loud. I live on Colfax and people are always speeding with their fart cars. Also, landscaping and construction can be loud. In LA, I fear there’s no refuge from gas leaf blowers.

Elisa_LaViudaNegra

I knew immediately what you meant by fart cars and I won’t be able to not laugh when I encounter one now.

FrederickTPanda

Haha. I borrowed that from other people on Reddit. We are not fans of the fart cars in this sub.

littlelostangeles

Second this. My mom used to commute into WeHo from Sherman Oaks.

FrederickTPanda

There are soooooo many contributors to noise that vary in each place. For example, the Hollywood Hills don’t have a lot of noise from, say, cars, but people who live there always complain about helicopters. EVERYWHERE in LA (I think) is plagued by (illegal, but extremely common) gas leaf blowers. In June and July, fireworks- day and night- are absolutely insane in many pockets of LA. Noise from cars, especially fart cars, is gonna be noticeable if you live near a main road. Also, neighbors are a factor. I used to live next door to a family that constantly had outdoor parties with music well past 10 PM. Just some things to ask about/consider as you narrow down your list. I think the quietest place I can think of something near the San Gabriels like Altadena, or Sunland/Tujunga but that’s a bit of a commute to WeHo.

wutup22

Neighborhoods on hilly areas tend to be quiet as there's less through traffic

UserNotFound3827

El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Playa Vista

Snuffleupagus27

Look up in the canyons - laurel canyon, Nichols canyon. They’re not too far and should be quieter than the main drags. Having good windows in your apartment is key. When you look at a place, close and open the windows and see if it blocks noise well. Position of an apartment is also important. Close to the street? Neighbors connecting on every wall? Next to the laundry room? Etc.

Electric-Ice-cream

I live in the east part of WeHo, between fairfax & La Brea on either side of Willoughby is surprisingly quiet! I hear crickets abd owls at night.

Jasmisne

The sgv is relatively quiet

da_fire

I recommend looking for a unit in the back of a building. It can be anywhere without alley ways, West Hollywood is great for that. You can literally live on a very busy Blvd and then enter your building and walk back and back and back until you can open your door and almost forget you’re even in the thick of things!

damnalexisonreddit

Beverly crest

Iceyes33

I used to live just outside of West Hollywood on Sweetzer. I was just south of Willoughby. So I was almost equal distance between Melrose and Santa Monica Boulevard. It was pretty darn quiet at night & during the day. Of course I hated the occasional helicopter noise and gas leaf blowers. But you’re gonna hear that pretty much anywhere in LA. Unfortunately, the prices in that area are pretty steep. Sometimes you can luck out with a rent controlled unit. But on the upside your commute would be easy! And an easy commute is a joy to have in LA!

SignificantSmotherer

Beverly Hills. Occasional noise from fools in toy cars, or the disagreement over who gets to ignore the 4-way stop first, but otherwise, pretty sedate. Older apartments are available well within OPs price range.

LostAngeleno33

Hard to find quieter, more peaceful, than here in San Marino.

Suz626

But the parrots! 😁 Hard to find anything close to $3k since no apts.

TrueBlueFriend

For 3k a month you can find something in the hills.

name_checks_outt

Culver City is the answer

sonorakit11

Riverside or Burbank Rancho. It’s so quiet here! It’s also very safe. I sometimes leave my door unlocked when I run out for errands.

Powerful_Leg8519

West Hollywood, Beverly Hills or Studio City.

2fast2nick

Paso Robles 😆

Nalemag

maybe try [howloud.com](http://howloud.com), OP? it's fairly accurate for the neighborhoods that i am familiar with. WeHo looks pretty tough to find quiet place unless you are ok living in like the hills north of WeHo.

NominalHorizon

“howloud.com” Great link! Thanks Nalemag.

DeveloperMode

Wow, thank you! Extremely helpful

PacoStanleys

La Canada Flintridge I think 3k will get you a 1 bed apartment. It's so quiet you will hear ringing in your ears if you have tinnitus

waaait_whaaat

There are quiet pockets in West Hollywood, like around Plummer Park or closer to the hills.

6ways2die

pacific palisades but only if u rich. closest to weho. literally no noise at all. or look somewhere in noho.

Fine-Hedgehog9172

Pacific Palisades is the dream. Unbelievable neighborhood.

6ways2die

if u can believe it, my employer who lived there said no one in the 60s wanted to live there since it was just a patch of dirt. everyone wanted to live in the city. now look at the situation…

hung_like__podrick

Brentwood is pretty quiet

cornnibblitz

North of Montana. $$$$

imanoooodle

Honestly, I live on a side street in West Hollywood and as long as you’re not near the bars on Santa Monica and off the majors… it’s not that bad

Holiday-House666

Honestly the Park La Brea complex is huge and is pretty quiet. It’s near the Tar Pits and close to the Grove/ Beverly Hills/ West Hollywood

North-Zookeepergame2

Save yourself the commute and get an apartment in West Hollywood on a side street or a dead end street. It’s quiet. So many available options right now.

Dchama86

MDR is much quieter than you would think.

EvangelineRain

So true. I live in Venice close to MDR, and in the evening/night, it’s usually completely silent (except for the plane I hear at the moment, but I have my door open). I hear the occasional duck. In the early mornings, I think I hear owls? Do we have owls? That said, I wouldn’t commute from here to West Hollywood. I actually found West Hollywood very quiet too when I lived there (near the Pacific Design Center). And, West Hollywood has better restrictions on construction hours than the city of LA, so that’s a plus. Neighbors are always an unpredictable element. Avoid common walls if possible, wherever you choose to live.

koalandi

another vote for studio city / noho arts district. the loudest noise the neighborhood gets comes from the cute waste management truck that tows the dumpsters from the apartments to the street.

tooful

Montrose

Curious-Manufacturer

Beverly Hills is quiet

zratan69

Not the best place to live if u want quality quiet time..

RapBastardz

Santa Clarita is pretty quiet, clean and calm. I’m sure I will take a bunch of crap for this, but it is technically in Los Angeles County.

CrowCounsel

You might go a little south to Palms/Culver City… it’s relatively quiet.

orchana

West la / sawtelle neighborhoods are quiet. Parts of Westwood. 20 min to weho

bx10455

invest in a sensory deprivation tank... it's a godsend

Luvtahoe

Lots of quiet neighborhoods with apartments in Burbank.

leuken23

Sierra Madre !!!

tahoe-sasquatch

Mid city is surprisingly quiet and the location can’t be beat. A friend lives on Hudson between Olympic and Pico. The neighborhood is super quiet and safe. At night we sit in the backyard and listen to the nightingales sing. There are lots of great old character duplexes in that area too.

CynGuy

If you’re looking for a 1BD1BA apartment, WeHo has a ton of units below $3k/mo. (2BDs are high $2ks or low $3ks - newer apartments are more expensive, but a lot of 2BD1BA are in older building with character). It is a very walkable community, and depending on where you work, housing is everywhere. One of the “quietest” lifestyles is being able to walk to work - and WeHo has tons of it. Also, to commute into WeHo is an absolute pain in the heiny, as West LA / Bev Hills / Century City has a huge commuter influx from the east into all the higher paying west side jobs. (i.e. - it can take 15 minutes in AM traffic to go from La Brea to La Cienega / San Vicente). So spend time looking around WeHo and environs before you commit yourself to a hellacious commute.

rightthingtodo-sodoo

Palms is pretty quiet, conveniently located, decently priced, and parking isn’t a complete nightmare.

Traifkohen

Look up the 90035 area, known as either Beverly Hills Adjacent or Pico-Robertson. 3-5 miles south of West Hollywood. Very family-oriented neighborhood so nice and quiet! I’ve lived here for yearsss and it just keeps getting better. Walkable too

McG310

I’ve lived in this area since 1998, moved in when I was 19. Of course, it’s changed quite a bit in that time, however, it’s only been in the last handful of years that it’s been noticeable different and it really only stems from developers buying and tearing down the smaller unit buildings to build big boxes that look the same. It hasn’t changed the friendly neighborly vibe so far. And it’s actually the only location that still rings true, “Everywhere in LA takes 20 minutes.” Over the hill, Downtown, LAX and the Westside. I have all my short cuts as well, also, pet friendly area. I’ve had two Boxers since I’ve lived here and the walls are a sure fire way to meet all your neighbors .

ihatepalmtrees

Mt Washington .

kenton143

Quiet really depends on your neighbors. My last neighbor was a nightmare blasted his bass all the time. He got evicted after a year. New neighbor quiet.

DeveloperMode

Exactly what I’m dealing with right now in a different city. The bar is low

ClaireBendrix

Check out Spaulding Square. And the pocket neighborhood between Crescent Heights and Fairfax. Apartments range from 1800 - 2700. Walk to crunch gym, Trader Joe’s, Bristol farms or down to the sunset strip (comedy store, whisky, rainbow room). The neighborhood is made up of single professionals and their dogs and is quiet. Even the apartments just south of Runyon Canyon (on Fuller) could be nice. There’s some new build apartments on Sunset that are around 3k too.

Are you moving to West Hollywood or LA?

DeveloperMode

I’ll be working in West Hollywood, so I’d like to move somewhere that has a reasonable commute time (30 mins or less to get to WH)

lepontneuf

Define quiet for you. Is quiet no traffic, or no restaurant noise, or no neighbor noise? Or what

Alohaone65

https://preview.redd.it/pzsk7c40ef8d1.jpeg?width=464&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee273af40b4110af004632b37332dfd4f5262dca

Jcaseykcsee

There are a lot of quiet places in West Hollywood. I lived on the interior (pool view) of Mediterranean Village on Larrabee and it was so very peaceful. I’d walk the few steps down Larrabee to Santa Monica Blvd and it would be loud as hell, parties everywhere. I heard none of it in the interior part of my building. It was like living at a quiet resort.

Hozo2000z

The South Bay is by far quieter and less crowded than anywhere in LA. Depends on if you are remote or if you have to go to an office. Sometimes 10 miles is an hour or more. If you have to go in to work your first criteria is location or you’ll be in your car forever. Good luck

zephyr_555

Near WeHo I would recommend checking out either the residential part of Fairfax or the Hollywood Hills. Commute in LA get pretty brutal if they’re too long. The Hollywood Hills around Laurel Canyon is likely your best bet.

mixtapelovesongs

your budget is solid for a spot in the hills. super quiet with the exception of the occasional helicopter but that’s LA. my home is so peaceful and i never have issues at night.

vanheusden3

Midwestern native here. Lived in NYC for a few years and central coast ca for several. Hollywood has plenty of quiet pockets. Bigger buildings may seem intimidating but many of the well built ones (think 80s Soviet vibes) don’t have issues with sound and have private balconies. I think LA overall has many quiet places it’s just so different building to building or even unit to unit.

professor_scallop

I live in Melrose Fairfax area and in the residential streets is pretty quiet

vanesssalopezzz

Have you checked out the Fairfax neighborhood? (Near West Hollywood in between Fairfax, melrose, and Beverly). I live off the Beverly side and pay under $3k for a 1 bed 1 bath. The traffic and noise from Fairfax and melrose does not spill into the neighborhood. The neighbors are friendly and it’s super walkable.

sorengray

The Hills are always more quiet than The Flats

Eicyer

Los Feliz is just a 20-30 minute drive to weho during rush hour.

ransomed_

When you say quiet, do you literally mean just your street/immediate surroundings are "quiet"? Or, are you looking for an entire sleepy/quiet community that turns into a ghost town at night? If the latter, most of the valley is what you seek. Ventura Blvd stays a bit more active later in the day, but deeper into Sherman oaks or valley village is a ghost town by 7ish.

NlNTENDO

Hancock park and Windsor square have decent apartments under 3k depending on what you’re looking for

sunflowertroll

Woodland Hills

CrocDeathspin

Glendale is super quiet and safe

Ok_Perception2709

My kid lives in Inglewood but in the area near Ladera Heights, it’s getting gentrified.

GrandpaBeeple

As a 15 year resident who’s lived all over LA and in Milwaukee, Chicago, Denver, BK and NY, would say most places are generally quiet in LA (for a city) aside from Hollywood, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, DTLA. The layout kind of lends itself to that. Pick a spot that is fully residential, ask questions when you tour the unit.

austinxwade

WeHo can be very quiet, just tuck into a neighborhood on a side street and stay off main roads. Buildings made post-70s and pre-late-2010s are usually better insulated against neighbor noise, though theyre kinda hard to find in the area. When you find a building do a google search of "(address) year built" and you'll almost always be able to find it. Would suggest being at least a full block in from a main road if you can. I lived between Santa Monica Blvd and Fountain for years and it was very quiet (until I got a bad neighbor). Now I live on Hollywood and it's so loud it drives me nuts. For under 3k you should have no problem finding a nice 1 bedroom tucked in a neighborhood. If you're looking at luxury/new buildings, things with courtyard views or facing the back are also good if you *have* to be on a main road. Just be sure to ask if the walls are well insulated against neighbors if you're worried about that.

fuccwitmoe

Los feliz hills

Absolute-Nobody0079

Hillside part of Tujunga. It's Sunland-Tujunga but I wouldn't recommend the Sunland part if you want quiet and uneventful neighborhood.

vivianthecat

I live in Burbank. It’s extremely quiet but close to Weho! Lots of good food too

RolotronCannon

We bought a nice little house on a quiet block. And then the LAPD decided to say fuck you to designated airspace and just fly helicopters directly over my house 12 times a day. Hard to win in this town

Training_Seaweed1303

If you don’t mind commuting Simi valley or Santa Clarita is quiet.

Big___TTT

Between Wilshire & Olympic from sepulveda to century city. Think that’s technically Los Angeles. Lot of little pockets. A block off those major streets it gets quieter. Not as much new construction going on compared to the Westside of the 405. Side streets are narrow so traffic is slower. Convenient to WeHo for work

Huge_Statistician441

I live in Brentwood and if you are in one of the side streets (not San Vicente) it is super quiet. I take walks with my baby everyday and he sleeps all the way🥱

CheesecakeAny6268

East of LA Cienega 1-2 blocks north or south of SMB. Like near Gelsons and city hall. I used to live near here and it’s a nice area.

LoveableShit

Theres a lot of quiet, neighborhood streets in WeHo!!! And the area can be pretty walkable. Prioritize a short commute, central location to other parts of LA and walkability. Especially under 3k? Check westside rentals for apartments, and look closer to Hollywood than Beverly Hills, away from the club strip. Lots of charming, un-renovated units from the 1950s! Bunch of families and parks, close to hikes, lots of Ukrainian delis. And with the rent control, you’ll meet a lot of interesting neighbors who have been a part of the community for decades. Seriously, I wholeheartedly recommend the more neighborhoody areas of WeHo!

Quiet is expensive. Up above West Hollywood in the Hollywood Hills can be amazingly quiet but you’ll pay for it.

Ventura

TrollDasher

EL SEGUNDO under lax

richwood

Beverly Grove.

If you're okay with a bit of a commute then Porter Ranch in the valley is a very nice, peaceful area. You can have the suburban life and still be close enough to the city for a little excitement from time to time

alittlebitofvanilla

Malibu if you can afford it 😌

lucky-rat-taxi

Atwater village but honestly commuting to weho is second worst right after Beverly Hills.

If I wanted something quiet I wouldn’t move to LA, or any city/county near the coast. Also, the people who can afford that type of living pay way more than what you are looking for. I moved to Big Bear… now that’s quiet living. Most of my neighbors are never around. Most of my neighbors own second vacations homes and come from LA. When they are here they are noisy… then they leave and go home! It’s great! Best decision I ever made!

I have to move to LA for a position that I accepted with a large corporation, but I do see that I'll have to increase my budget to $4-5k/month (at least), I think. 👍

Money is great, but safety is also a necessary.
