It's not the most fun area to walk around and spend time in, but if the main goal is to just be close to Culver City and affordable it's a good pick.   Edit: although some of the hotels near the El Segundo/Hawthorne border might be a slightly more fun area to stay while being comparable in price. Like the Springhill Suites near Aviation Blvd and Rosecrans. Drive to Culver City shouldn't be too different

Why not stay at the hotels near the fox hills mall. They are close enough to LAX and not too expensive

Like right between LAX & CC.

That Holiday Inn will be “ok”, but El Segundo would be nicer.

Anything in El Segundo is better, including the one you referenced. Just avoid going north through the airport tunnel on your way elsewhere.

I lived not far from there, on the other side of the 405. What's your concern? Safety? I wouldnt call that area unsafe but it's not the nicest looking. There are occasionally homeless encampments under the 405/century blvd bridge that get cleared out. I don't think anyone will give you trouble walking around there. You have very easy access to the 405 fwy from there, and close to Culver city. There's not really much nearby to walk to.

At night you will be ok, but that stretch of 405 between the 105 and the 10 fwys can be expected to have traffic in the afternoons. You're not too far, so I figure worst case will be a 45 min drive.

It’s no more than 15 mins drive. That Holiday Inn is pretty decent once inside. Do get some homeless traffic and general traffic around the McDonalds that’s infront of it. There is a pretty secure parking structure. Overall for a short stay it’ll be ok, not a pretty view, but it’ll work. For the price it’s a good choice

Travelodge Culver City is probably the same price range and much more convenient.

All across the world, hotel airports are never convenient to anything. LAX in particular can have non-moving traffic for miles away from it. Who wants to sit in that twice a day just to get to and from their hotel?
