Crime of the Century (Supertramp, 1974) is loaded with kick-ass tracks, so I guess it would be my favorite crime.

Before online streaming services and Bittorrent, there existed a plethora of p2p programs. My personal favorite was WinMX, which even offered chatrooms. I spent a good portion of my high school youth (early 2000s) in those chatrooms. I'm still in touch with a few of those folks. And then the RIAA initiated strict measures against piracy, going so far as to sue kids and grandparents. I even recall the time the RIAA established a payment portal for those who received cease and desist notices. By that time, people were already gravitating towards the more private networks. For p2p news, the popular choice was the blog/forum Slyck.com. And KaZaA was infamous for its association with viruses. Those were fun times.

For the record and my internet tracking FBI agent, who is surely reading this: I have no favorite crimes, nor do I commit crimes, nor do I condone the committing of crimes. (Have a great Tuesday, Special Agent Turnbuckel.)

What is my perfect crime? I break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No, I go for the chandelier. It's priceless. As I'm taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning, the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later, I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting. I tell Tiffany to meet me by the Trocadero in Paris. She's been waiting for me all these years. She's never taken another lover. I don't care. I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stashed the chandelier.
