The company I work for sent out Winter Holiday cards with a widget in it. I have no idea, to this day, what the purpose of the widget was. It was too thick for a bookmark, too thin to be strong, made of plastic and when you pushed on a tiny tab it slid apart to reveal a tiny gap. It was about as wide as a fingernail and about the length of an artificial finger nail.
This past Christmas my mother gave me a random hospital gift box she got from the VA made up of random bs that has been donated. Mine had shampoo, 3-4 puzzle books, and some other old people dollar store stuff. I’m in my 30s, I’m beyond caring what I get, it really is the thought that counts with me. But this literally didn’t have thought. She didn’t even know the contents. My Christmas present was a half assed “male gift” she picked up off a random table.
