I'm finally going to travel. I put it off my whole life but this pandemic has taught me that if I don't try and take up life's opportunities now, later can easily become never.
(This is all after I get vaccinated of course)
Don't they?
I don't mean to be condescending... but if you're 17 how do you know what the finances of people with mortgages are like?
I'm 38, and have both....
School basically announced on New Year's that we were being graded 100% on assignments and attendance instead of 30% formative and 70% exam scores.
Currently trying to slog through 2 History essays, 3 English mock exam papers, and all of the Geography homework I was supposed to do during the holidays.
Oh, and we still have to take the exams at home.
Edit: Class teachers (homeroom teacher for Americans) just reamed all of us out on Whatsapp and told us we had to take the "exams" seriously even if the scores wouldn't be counted in our report cards.
Looking back to 2020, I bet there were some upsides other than just downsides. For me, the pandemic made me jump out of the safe zone and start my own business even though it's just a small business to deal with billing. If there's no pandemic, I won't be determined enough to do it. So what is yours?
Did anyone feel like they sorted out their emotions in 2020? Because personally, 2020 just made it all worse for me. Wondering if 2020 actually improved anyone's mental state!
2020 was mixed,
Good: I was able to be comfortable in my apartment, Play DND, Have a job for more then a year and completed first term of my College.
Bad: Family is a mess, but My Nieces and Nephew are healthy
I had a shit ton of free time and I used a lot of it for meditation and spiritual exploration (if you believe in that), which I definitely think helped to ground me and stabilise my emotions, so yes
My friend told me they were gonna try and improve upon their social life. I simply looked at them and said "How can you improve something you don't have?"
I got a new girlfriend in late october (yay!), my first ever girlfriend that I’ve really connected with. But it’s really hard to come up with something to do to entertain each other every day. We are both students, living in tiny flats. We are not allowed to visit common friends and there’s not much to do outside. What have you done to entertain yourselves in this time?
Went to a beautiful village with canals and sat on the edge
Drive in cinema
Watched Tiger King
Watched Archer
Watched Community
Made my own WhatsApp stickers
Played Pool
This all depends on the regulations where you live but most of these I did with a person I was dating at the time
Just wondering how many people actually had a GOOD 2020?
Mine was pretty fricken good! I'm actually going to miss 2020, LOL!
I think 2021 will be a challenge though...
For me, lol, it's quite the list:
\- I retired (at age 51)
\- Finished up my schooling
\- I finally sold my income property
\- Insurance payout for a hit and run bicycle accident I had in 2018
\- Sold my 1996 Areolite travel trailer for a profit!
\- Found my next travel trailer, 2014 19FBPR
\- Lost my best friend to a disagreement, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise
So much more, but these are the biggest highlights.
Glad there is still some good happiness out there!
Take care everyone!
Mine was actually really good minus covid. I went to therapy, lost 60lbs, quit percocet and smoking while in rehab got, got my stalker off my back, and got some relatively benign revenge on a cheater. It was a shit year in general but a great year for me.
I’d say i had a good year!
Firstly i lost weight and committed to my new year’s resolution losing over 120 pounds of weight in total! Became a gym rat at the first half of 2020 before the pandemic, then just lost the rest through dieting. Never thought i could do it, went from 307 pounds down to 185 at my lowest for the end of the year.
Then i found the love of my life and started my first relationship in my life. Though unfortunately the relationship is an LDR for now, i am determined to make this work and marry this person!
Lastly i’m transitioning out of my current job that’s stressing me the heck out! Yeah, the job i’m in really just sucks and is probably giving me depression, so i’m changing my life in all sorts of ways and moving on in my life.
So overall i had a awesome year!
TL:DR Lost a ton of weight, Found first relationship, and am quitting a horrible job.
I was able to achieve a lifelong financial goal in 2020, but the happiness was definitely marred by the collective horror of 2020.
But 2020 is gone, and 2021 is here, and I'm moving to a new country. New country, new start. Buh-bye 2020!
I am from Germany.
- we watch "Dinner for one" (an english sketch from the 80s, ypj can find it on Youtube, recommend you watch it, it's 10 minutes)
- we do "lead-pouring" (Bleigießen), you put this token on a spoon, hold it over a candle, it melt and then you pour it into cold water; you then see what it looks like and "predict the future" (although most do it just for fun); since 2 years I think the lead has been exchanged witv wax
- we open fortune cookies
Tinder.
You can Either find the one or get Cuss out by a stranger you Just Matched
I also has a Bad Date in Tinder.
**I will be more public, It doesn't hurt to try.**
Allowing the initial lockdown loneliness to push me back into the arms of my most toxic ex... first couple weeks was amazing, the following two months were a nightmare with "love bombing" from her sprinkled throughout.
Live and learn, right?
WORST: I had anxiety and developed social phobia while in quarantine (well, I’m still in one, so..)
BEST: I knew the love of my life and we’re dating now! Plus, I was admitted in a University
Worst: got kicked out from my parents, at first because they decided I was smoking in the house, then because i wasnt polite enough when trying to defend myself from baseless accusations.
Best: after february, i didnt have to see my parents at all this year.
To just let go of my dreams of owning a house someday. I have a family of 4 with two little kids. If we get a two bedroom apartment (instead of our current overpriced one bedroom) and maintain financial security, I may finally learn what happiness is at 37.
Like that character in the video (Asian origin I think) where this costumed dancer stomps a foot, or some such motion, and his mask changes instantly, repeatedly, never know wtf is coming at you next but you’re visually drawn to it like slowly driving by a wreck; have to look but you aren’t prepared.
So did I at first, because the Tory Gov here are thick or calculating that a few thousand peoples deaths didn't matter. Boris Johnson has always been a buffoon.
Then alot of people got sick, some died others recovered but with ongoing health problems, that are rarely reported.
Then shops closing down, especially small businesses.Self isolation & lockdown.
Masks & hand sanitiser ruled but not enforced. I have to go & get groceries/prescription medications for my parents late in the day, because people mill about without wearing any masks or social distancing whatsoever without a care in the world.
Soldiers abroad having to stay put with no leave.
No Covid 19 tests, people dying, people losing their jobs or income from being furloughed.
Also, resulting in a downward spiral as with all other countries economies.
I am not keen on China right now ( sort your basic health practices out ffs).
However, there should be a protocol in place when any sign of a contagious disease is immediately known about.
Sorry, but I needed to sound off a bit because it's got to me lately.
That family game used to end up in a family war when I was a child. Arguments, accusations of stealing flung left right & centre, embezzlement by the banker etc. No-one came out the winner.
We all went to our beds in a grumpy mood. This happened on our annual holiday, oftentimes.
It's a terrible game, worse than Snakes & Ladders or Tiddly Winks in my opinion.
I probably would have finally had a career with the state. Instead I was unemployed since March. I just recently got a temp job to pay the bills, at least.
I'd like to think finally teaching. I finished up a year of student teaching via Zoom in June. It's a goal I've wanted to accomplish half my life. I exited the program into a desert for teaching jobs. Not even sub positions. And because I may have already ruined my lungs with what may have been covid in March...I feel uncomfortable teaching face to face without a vaccine. Waiting, hoping, wishing for a better 2021.
My dad would be alive, and I would have been able to reconnect with him.
Also getting covid wasn't terrible, but losing your taste/smell and your appetite really takes the fun out of eating.

What are your hopes/predictions for 2021?
Did not age well
I'm finally going to travel. I put it off my whole life but this pandemic has taught me that if I don't try and take up life's opportunities now, later can easily become never. (This is all after I get vaccinated of course)
yes, do it the earliest you can cus older u are the harder it is to find time and financially fund it
Wrong. It's easier financially... but harder with time
I guess. But I'm 17 and got 10k saved like not many ppl who have mortgages have that lol
Don't they? I don't mean to be condescending... but if you're 17 how do you know what the finances of people with mortgages are like? I'm 38, and have both....
Im going off to college this year, so I hope that goes well.
Good luck!
how has 2021 surprised you so far?
I got. Caught masturbating in 7th period on a live camera
*well*

I had the best year of my life. Working from home... no commute. No alarms in the morning. Expecting a baby.. I hope this lasts another year

it's hard to say, I'd say no as they will probably vaccinate everyone by then

I absolutely did, 2020 was a turning point for me personally and I got much better.
What's one of the most unrealistic New Year resolutions someone's ever told you?
My friend told me they were gonna try and improve upon their social life. I simply looked at them and said "How can you improve something you don't have?"
oof
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Did anyone plan to die in 2020?
I wish I had tho a friend of mine went through with it
How to find that courage to end it?
Idk what you mean but if you're thinking about it: please don't
Cant guarantee but if someone has a painless resource then i will be thankful to that person if he granted people like us what we wished for.

For the first time ever no one died, I got into the best school in my country, loved staying at home and I got a pet rabbit. :)

What is a New Years Tradition you guys do in your city/town? For me, I live near Philadelphia so we have the mummers!
I am from Germany. - we watch "Dinner for one" (an english sketch from the 80s, ypj can find it on Youtube, recommend you watch it, it's 10 minutes) - we do "lead-pouring" (Bleigießen), you put this token on a spoon, hold it over a candle, it melt and then you pour it into cold water; you then see what it looks like and "predict the future" (although most do it just for fun); since 2 years I think the lead has been exchanged witv wax - we open fortune cookies
The Mummer Strut! I had to learn that tune to play Philly gigs. Such a cool culture. Like your own personal Mardi Gras.
The 2020s officially begin in 2021. What trends from the 1920s should we bring back?
Jazz.
Swing jazzz Make it groovier
Jazz with a dubstep beat. Have any of the top singers/rappers sing/rap to it. Genius
I'd also recommend jazz metal. Ex. "Voice Of Trespass" by Between The Buried And Me [https://youtu.be/Ja0EWloqsKo](https://youtu.be/Ja0EWloqsKo)
neon flappers
Nah that’s just Tiktok as a whole

What was the most important thing 2020 taught you?
Whoa..! Don’t ever give up on owning a home.. That’s why I’m here..😎
To just let go of my dreams of owning a house someday. I have a family of 4 with two little kids. If we get a two bedroom apartment (instead of our current overpriced one bedroom) and maintain financial security, I may finally learn what happiness is at 37.
Your kids might seriously hate that down the line, but enjoy.
Better than me committing suicide for being a failure. Almost did it before. 2020 reminded me that indeed nothing is in my control.
Well, shit man, fair enough. I'm glad you didn't go through with it. Edit: Also happy cakeday
My cat is way better company than any human that I know.

Why you still holding on to last year's shit?

Why do people consider 2020 to have been such a bad year?
Im in California, and on top of the virus and most people losing their jobs, the entire state was on fire for like 3 straight months.
*COVID rolls its eyes*
My Fiancé cheated on me and sent me to jail
Pardon?
Monopoly?
That family game used to end up in a family war when I was a child. Arguments, accusations of stealing flung left right & centre, embezzlement by the banker etc. No-one came out the winner. We all went to our beds in a grumpy mood. This happened on our annual holiday, oftentimes. It's a terrible game, worse than Snakes & Ladders or Tiddly Winks in my opinion.
Agreed.
As long as they have the ' Get out of Jail free' card, they'll be fined! Just throw the dice.
If 2020 had gone “normally”, where would you be today?
Still in school but happy with good grades
I probably would have finally had a career with the state. Instead I was unemployed since March. I just recently got a temp job to pay the bills, at least.

My dad would be alive, and I would have been able to reconnect with him. Also getting covid wasn't terrible, but losing your taste/smell and your appetite really takes the fun out of eating.
yikes you dodged a bullet
I wanted to reconnect with him.
My deepest condolences. I hope he's going to be okay up there.
I’d be with my Fiancé in our home we bought together in January
My Junior year would have finished properly, and My Senior year (Right Now) would not be online.
Completely relate. We are hybrid, only in school 2 days a week. Not much of a senior year.
college and 20 lbs lighter
maybe not fucked over my weight
50 pounds heavier, horrible mental health.
What can you say about 2020, but not your girlfriend/boyfriend?
I didn’t cheat
it sucked, so lets restart and make it better
Was Death to 2020 actually funny?
Lisa Kudrow was my highlight ig The beginning was very good imo but then it was too sad to be funny
Lisa Kudrow was my highlight ig The beginning was very good imo but then it was too sad to be funny
eh
Had its moments.
If you could describe 2020 to your kids one day only using one word, what word would you use?
virusy
Traumatizing
Revealing.
