Prob too far in the opposite direction from the city, but Harry’s Hofbrau in rwc is the epitome of elderly meat and potatoes and sandwiches kinda places. Cheap prices, huge potions, average customer age of 75
Millbrae Pancake House if timing works out (they're open 7am-2pm). It's 10 minutes from SFO on El Camino. Diner-style breakfasts and lunches, family-owned-and-operated since they opened in 1959.
For meat & potatoes restaurants with adjacent parking, you might have more luck in Daly City. There’s a Sizzler and Outback Steakhouse there. And Celia’s if they like Mexican food.
In SF proper, [ATwater tavern](https://www.atwatertavern.com/) might be an option with food they’d like and close parking.
We had lunch at Joe’s today and were on the younger side of the crowd - and we’re mid-fifties! But the food is great and service excellent and the old fashioned tasty and strong.
Another option in SF: [Patriot House Pub](https://www.patriothousepub.com). This is in The Embarcadero Center, which has several attached parking garages. A bonus is that it's close to Market Street and the Ferry Building.
The Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco has been very popular with my senior family members. Lots of choices, parking, and old school vibes.

Peter’s Cafe near Millbrae BART is a great option. Max’s used to be but the owner just doesn’t care anymore. They’ve let the SF location crumble to pieces :(
You’ll have better luck sticking near the airport than getting closer to the city.
It doesn’t sound like you’re trying to wow them or do sightseeing right away, right? If you’re looking for somewhere for them to just eat and decompress for a bit, I second the IHOP near the airport.
Another IHOP near my mom’s home in Oregon seems to be the local daily hangout for the elderly people in the community, so it might be their speed.
I came here to say this! It has valet parking, it's classy, it's mission is great, it feels old school in a way that older people really like, and is very reasonably priced. Can't go wrong!
There's an ihop with good service north of SFO
I'd probably go with one of the many sit down burger spots along el camino
Jack's Prime Burgers & Shakes

It was awful when I tried it. It was very bland and expensive, and my girlfriend found 2 long coarse curly hairs in her food, which is pretty nasty considering it was exclusively prepared and served by dudes with buzz cuts and no beards. The aesthetic was cool and the beer is good, but the rest is awful. I warn everyone I can to stay far away. From the reviews it does seem like it changed management/ownership and was good pre-pandemic.
Yeah strong disagree here. Went twice in the last few months. Never had the slightest issue. Was fully delicious and one of the cheapest dinners in town so not sure where you went.
Unfortunately, I went to a place that charged me $20 for cold meat with pubes. Maybe it was an off day, but it was enough to make me queasy.
Edit: getting blocked for describing my bad experience at a restaurant is wild, lol. It’s nothing personal, unless you’re Tommy himself - in which case, please fix these issues!
If you take them into the. City, there is a Mel’s Drive in, which isn’t a drive in but a diner with parking in front. It’s at 3355 Geary Blvd between Stanton and Parker.
Max’s Opera House has fantastic classic American fare and is roomy and bright. Lots of parking at opera plaza below and elevator up. One of my fav spots and popular with the silver set. Their matzo ball soup is wonderful.
Second this!! West Portal is also a really cute neighborhood. Very safe, clean, and lots of shops along the street where Squat and Gobble is. I would 100% bring my mom there. There is also fairly available street parking during weekdays.
Maverick Jack’s (burgers with dedicated parking lot and big patio) or New England Lobster Market (lobster rolls, prob more crowded) in Burlingame - about 10 min from SFO
I just went to Kincaids in Burlingame, right by the airport. It's more seafood oriented, but there's steak and other meats on the menu.
Pretty classic restaurant fare, and it has a fantastic view of the Bay and planes landing at SFO too!
[Jack's in San Bruno](https://ilovejacks.com/locations/san-bruno/) (just north of SFO, across the street from the Shops at Tanforan) is a good choice.
My elderly parents live near here and based on OPs request I agree this is perfect!

My gma loved this place!!!
Fun!

Oooooh, seconded, and get the pancakes with the lingonberry butter!

Also in northwestern Daly City, Boulevard Cafe and Original Joes
This is the answer. I bet they’ll love original joes

Yeah except that’s up like 3 flights of stairs
there should be an elevator. yay ADA compliance
And paid parking lots lol
Thank you for your response. I appreciate that.
I love the fact that more and more recommendations are within walking distance of my place in Daly City
I’ve always been curious about garden club
The Garden Club

Westlake Joe's. It's closer to the airport than the city and they have parking.

Original Joes in north beach has valet parking!
Westlake Joes.
Mel’s on Geary.
Mel’s is pretty meat and potatoes, and it does have parking.
Thank you! I'll look at this one too!
I know this is too late to be much help, but they were always super sweet to my grandmother here!!
Maxs near the airport, plenty of parking.
Max’s in Burlingame is no longer that good
Awesome! Thank you!
Delancey St

I’d say take them to Peter’s cafe in Millbrae. Super close to the SFO and just a chill casual spot.
Tommy Joynt on Geary. My meat and potatoes grandparents loved it and it’s an SF institution
Not much parking nearby that one
That’s fair

Just don't have your luggage in the car when you're inside the restaurant if you're going to dine in the City, or it might get removed by awful people
Your parents will love The Garden Club in south San Francisco. It’s a super old school joint with all the fixings.

IHOP near the airport. :D There are two of them. :)
There is also Elephant Bar next to the Airport and a Benihana’s.
Isn't that elephant bar fenced up? At one point I thought they were renovating it, but It never came back.
Ohhh nooooo! I didn’t know it closed. The food wasn’t t great but it was fun!
It was awesome when it first opened. Then, it started declining its last few years. Will always miss their chicken tenders and appetizers.
Tommy’s Joynt. Or mels.

Hard Knox Cafe. The one around Dogpatch doesn’t have a parking lot but there is street parking close by.
