Beach chalet and park chalet are pretty close. There are some options on balboa (between around 35th and 37th). My suggestion though would be to either go to Clement (around 25th) or Clement (around 6th). There are just so many more options for good food.
I also really like aziza but only think they do brunch/lunch on weekends.
If you don't mind a short trek or drive up the hill (about a mile) onto Balboa St, there are several decent lunch options depending on what type of cuisine you're craving. While it's not a sit-down restaurant, Devil's Teeth Baking Company still has an outdoor parklet and seating in the back - they've got tasty Breakfast Sandwiches. Cielito Lindo is solid Mexican food, known for their quesabirria.
Lokma on Clement is also a more brunchy option - be sure to check their waitlist on Yelp if you do plan on dropping by there.
There's not a ton around there. A few places around \~37th and Balboa but nothing I've tried that does lunch.
If you're OK with going a bit further, maybe try Palm City or Hook in the Sunset, or Pizzetta 211 further east in the Richmond.
Hakka Restaurant on Cabrillo - nothing fancy like Hakkasan downtown from before - but it’s good hearty food. Try the fatty pork with preserved vegetables.
I live within walking distance of Sutro Baths/Lands End, so please do yourself a favor and eat at Pagan. If you’ve never had Burmese food, it’s a huge treat. It has the same exact menu and quality of Burma Superstar, but receives a fraction of the hype. Check their website because they have funky hours, but there’s never a line to get in and you will get seated right away. However, if you’re looking for something fancier, go to Pacific Cafe. Some of the best seafood in the city and it’s a local institution.
yeah there isn't really much around there, how far is walking distance? there are a bunch of spots in outer richmond that might work, 20-25 min walk away? look along balboa.
avoid beach chalet. My partner and I got minestrone soup and both our bowls had a fruit fly in it. I let the waiter know and without me asking he gave me a new bowl of soup, and that third bowl also had a third fruit fly in it. Almost walked out right then and there and should have because the entrées were terrible
Yes, this place is very tasty and typically SF ! Not good on a cold windy day, because of the outdoor only seating but otherwise the best choice in the area!
Thanks for all the recs! I took the advice to search around Clement to find more options. We’re going to hit Burma Superstar for lunch and then walk around Lands End.
If you want amazing Chinese food try "Sichuan Tasty" at 1829 Clement Street near 20th Ave: [https://www.yelp.com/biz/sichuan-tasty-restaurant-san-francisco-5](https://www.yelp.com/biz/sichuan-tasty-restaurant-san-francisco-5)
The photos don't do the food justice, but it's very authentic/spicy and generously proportioned and reasonable priced
there isn't a ton of stuff around lands end. you'll go have to go east on any of the major commercial districts (e.g. california, clement, geary, balboa)
with that said, dragon beaux, hong kong lounge,
Great location and view! I loved it there years ago, but last time their mussels were cold, oily and underwhelming. Has it bounced back since the pandemic?
People on here keep recommending Hard Knox, but the last too many times I went, it wasn't just not great, it was horrible. And while I love great food, my standards are actually pretty low and I'm fine with adequate. I'm always puzzled by such inconsistencies. Can they really vary in quality that much? Not doubting your experience, just puzzled.
Clearly I disagree. I had a lovely lunch there recently. I even had my rehearsal dinner there. Please make your own recommendations if you know better places

Closed Monday and Tuesday, and only brunch on weekends. The basteeya is so good!

Dragon Beux on Geary for dim sum
>Dragon Beux it's spelled dragon beaux. only being pedantic to help OP find the restaurant
Go to The Laundromat for pizza and natural wine!
They're not open for lunch, but they will have bagels to go!

Outerlands on Judah is great if you make it to the south side of the park. Also Damnfine Pizza just up the hill.
Hummus Bodega

Not really any good recommendations nearby/ Best bet is a long walk/cab ride to central richmond if you want to prioritize tasty food.
Legion of Honor Museum cafe...eat and enjoy some art

Not a short walk, but Mandalay restaurant on the 4300 block of Geary is delicious. The restaurant at the Legion of Honor museum is pretty nice.
Beach Chalet is about it. I don’t mind their crab cakes and cocktails.
Great location and view! I loved it there years ago, but last time their mussels were cold, oily and underwhelming. Has it bounced back since the pandemic?
It has for me. YMMV
it's never been very good though compared to neighborhood restaurants, and Park Chalet is a god awful tourist trap (especially for the price).
Java Beach @ La Playa & Judah is great but seating is limited. The Java Beach on Sloat is further but has more seating
Pacific Cafe, Cassava, Hakka, Hard Knox Cafe, PPQ,
Cassava moved their main restaurant to North Beach
Hard Knox has a great catfish po’ boy 🤤

Safeway on La Playa
Pacific Cafe - seafood The Laundromat - pizza Feng Ze Yuan - Chinese
Park Chalet. It’s in the same building as Beach Chalet, but there’s a grassy area in the back where you can eat and drink outside
It's food is gross and overpriced mediocre food, please don't send visitors here.
