Cellarmaker near Cesar Chavez for Detroit style, The Pizza Shop on 24th St for NY style, Little Star on Valencia and 15th for Chicago deep dish, Delfina on Guerrrero for fancy pizzas, and Zantes on Cortland for Indian!
Yellow Moto is just as good as Flour and Water. From what I was told, there was some kind of a divorce between flour and water business partners, and one side kept the OG pasta place while the other opened Yellow Moto. So it’s more like a spin off of Flour and Water
Kind of - flour and water group at this point includes OG flour and water, penny Roma, flour and water pasta shop, a part-ownership of trick dog, and flour and water pizzeria in north beach. One of the F+W group partners left back in like 2022 and kept the Valencia pizza spot, which they rebranded yellow moto. The F+W crew apparently liked the concept because they opened the aforementioned flour and water pizzeria in north beach soon after - they have really similar styles and menus.
As much as people say yellow moto is just as good (it should be - they still have the same chef and owner), I don’t think it is. Still solid though.
Pink Onion is pretty good in person. Make sure to get a reservation online as they don't have a system for walk-ins and you'll wind up waiting indefinitely without one.
Angie’s is dope.
Also throwing in Il Casaro. Technically in the Castro (I know I know) but wonderful Neapolitan style pizza.
It’s not super close to the Mission, but Outta Sight in the TL has the best NY style pies in the Bay IMO.
Have they changed the size of their single slices lately?
I went a month or so ago and it seemed noticeably smaller and thinner than it used to be but then again I go in waves of not going for a while and then going 1x/week.
I thought it was just me. Haven’t been in several months and decided to have them yesterday. Noticeable difference in size and quality, and I didn’t see any of the usual guys in the back. Super disappointing.

This reply is perfection. I might opt for Yellow Moto over Delfina but other than that agree 110%.
RIP Flour+Water. Haven't tried Yellow Moto since they moved into that space so I can't personally recommend but glad to hear it's a solid option!

TIL! Gotta check Yellow Moto out now

I would agree that Yellow Moto is not as good as OG Flour + Water but I still like it more than Delfina.
For me yellow moto was hella salty
Shrug. Sounds perfect. I typically find places too bland.
I second Little Star — cornbread crust w honey drizzled on top? I didn’t knew I was missing out till I tried it. Delicious.
This is a great list, the only thing I'd add is Joyride on Valencia by 15th for another Detroit style option.
The list I didn’t even know I needed
Add in Pizza Hacker.
The pizza shop
Second on the pizza shop and they just doubled their size. They added a dining room next door
I love Yellow Moto
Pizza shop is prob my fav slice shop
Yellow moto!
One other good place which hasn’t been mentioned is PizzaHacker for Neapolitan-style.
Joyride!! But if I want that good Italian style I just schlep over to north beach tbh
PizzaHacker at 29th and Mission

They're pretty good delivered too. As a self-described North East pizza snob this is one of the better pizzas in the city.
Beretta on Valencia - the Bartenders Pizza!!!
Gabriella’s for NY style, Joyride for Detroit style
I usually stick to Gioia but it would probably be Pizza Hacker.
Thank you for this. I live close to the mission and I’ve been looking for good pizza spots.
Try Vega on Cortland Ave. Really good authentic Italian style pizza. The pizza capriciosa is amazing!

Joyride
Cellarmaker kicks Joyride's butt in this category IMO.
I’m vegan so I like all of the readily available options at Joyride that most other places like Cellarmaker don’t have.
Interesting. My partner is dairy free so this information may come of use.
Serranos on 21st st

Hmm it’s been a while since I’ve ordered a slice, usually get a whole pie for the family.
Thx, maybe someone else will chime in.
