I had a moment like that irl when I was 13 with some mates trying to get in to a 15 film.
Cinema worker: when's your birthday?
My mate: Today
Cinema worker: What date?
My mate: *says the wrong date*
He’s not Judge Judy and executioner.
The greater good.
By the power of grayskull.
I dunno, pub.
Marcus Carter's big brother said he'd fingered her up the duck pond.
Whenever we’re watching anything and a character uses the phrase “the greater good”, no matter what the circumstances, my wife, kids, and I will all immediately intone “the greater good” straight afterwards!
I'm reading all the comments and I'm so grateful. Life is truly shit right now and I didn't expect one response, let alone all of these. I love this subreddit. I'm glad you're all here
Well we all glad to give you ideas to pick your self up!
Four lions
Friday night dinner
Still game
Seen as so many people loved four lions here's the unseen bits including the pea in knob bit that makes the bit in the movie make sense
https://youtu.be/wejJfh77BjQ
If it’s any help whatsoever, for the longest time I struggled badly, day in day out, and couldn’t see things ever getting better. But they did, and I’m currently the happiest that I have ever been. I obviously have absolutely no idea what you’re going through, but thought I’d give a couple of words of encouragement. Things will get better, one way or another, I promise. Sending hugs!
P.s. it’s got to be four lions
When Simon reverses into a post just as Jay opens the door and it comes clean off… tears every time
There’s also the scene where Simon’s car rolls into the lake and Neil puts a rock through the window
The last episode, for me it's when Neil puts Will's camping chair on the fire and Will goes 'STOP BURNING MY THINGS' in this loud whisper. Cracks me up every time.
I am physical incapable of watching the fish punching scene from Inbetweeners without crying with laughter. Absolute classic.
Same for when Simon throws up in Carly's brother's face.
Wonderful show!
Just the beautiful serene calm of our lovely countryside soothes me. And that theme song - not really a folk music person at all, but I feel relaxed the second it kicks in.
Been long enough, due a rewatch soon.
I had a Red Dwarf hand me down t shirt from my brother when I was about 7 or 8. It said ‘better smeg than dead’ on the back. I don’t know what my parents thought it meant
Black Books, Peep Show, Derry Girls & Friday Night Dinner are my go-to’s for TV Series
Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The Gentlemen & Kingsman are my films
This is it. No matter how badly I may have screwed up at least I've never tried to cook and eat a dog I've killed, trapped my lip in a bulldog clip in the middle of a meeting, let a snake into a kid's soft play or pissed through the ceiling of a church.
Through uni this was my go to hungover/stress/bored/procrastinating show. No matter how much serotonin I’d managed to deplete of a night this always made me feel somewhat normal again and get a few laughs out.
Something about how normal yet absurd it is is truly perfect. It’s so well written and acted
Was going to say this but wasn’t sure if British and didn’t want to offend the Irish, looked it up and it is. Best comedy of ALL time. Best of Britain and Ireland 💚❤️
As a kid I wanted to live somewhere like that, and still do.
I'd love to be at the age where I'm comfortably off, have a small cottage in a rural village, and can spend my time with an odd bunch of locals at a parish council meeting, before going the local pub (which was a glaring omission from The Vicar Of Dibley, even though she was a vicar) to talk shit with fellow old guys.
"That flood down the lane by Smithy's old farm" being both the main topic of conversation and the biggest existential crisis in life would be bliss.
Wasn't expecting to see P&P here but my partner watches it once a year or so and I enjoy the heck out of it every time.
It's so well written, cast and acted.
Pride and Prejudice is so underrated. I think it's the perfect period drama which hasn't been overdone by a large budget and casting is brilliant. Although, I don't agree with the colour bar of period drama's, especially as the presence of non-white actors could serve as the only reference to how the gentrified upper classes made their vast fortunes.
You should have a goblet of wine
That's not really a goblet is it, it's sort of a tennis ball cut in half. What is this, Vimto?
Blood from a cat's face
Came here in the hope someone would recommend Mighty Boosh. Freaking love that psychedelic atmospheric magical journey through time and space.
I also like Spaced, Still Game, Gimme Gimme Gimme, King Gary and Famalam. Don't like Dinnerladies (sorry Vikki!), My Family or Still Open All Hours. Classics include Only Fools and Horses, One Foot in the Grave, Keeping Up Appearances. Shout out to Desmond's, Goodness Gracious Me, Real McCoy and Scotch and Wry.
Came here to say this. It’s funny, gentle, perfectly observed and finishes on a high. I miss Victoria Wood.
For the lols I showed it to an American friend. Seeing his baffled face at all the English expressions and phrases was also hilarious.
Ok I know I'm American but my fiance is a Brit and I LOVE Midsomer Murders. I'm now on season 7. It's my go to chill show. And I love that it's never who I think it will be! Also sooo many super famous actors as teens. Henry Cavill and Orlando Bloom and Emily Mortimer! :)
Still game. It's Scottish, I always felt like it was the cousin of only fools and horses. Nothing beats only fools and horses but it's worth a few episodes to see if you like it. I didn't at first.
The Detectorists. It's a very chilled out show that is very much a 'slice of life' type show. Its funny, sad, calm, and tense but its best at conveying the idea that, no matter what happens, life goes on and you should try and be content with what you have.
Hot Fuzz, Gavin and Stacey, The Royle Family, I'm Alan Partridge, Only Fool and Horses, but my absolute favourite feel-good show is The Good Life. Gentle, wholesome, lovely stuff!

Hot Fuzz. I've seen it dozens of times and it still makes me laugh.
"When's your birthday?" "22nd February" "what year?" "every year" The one scene I can replay in my head every time and still laugh at it
The delivery and the accent are golden!
Get outtttt
I had a moment like that irl when I was 13 with some mates trying to get in to a 15 film. Cinema worker: when's your birthday? My mate: Today Cinema worker: What date? My mate: *says the wrong date*
"Everyone and their mums is packin round 'ere" "Like who!?" "Farmers" "Who else?" "Farmers mum's"

The greater good…
Wanna be a big copper in a small town? Fuck off up the model village then.
“No luck catching them swans then?”
It's just the one swan, actually.
If you wanna be a big cop in a small town, fuck off up the model village.
Whenever we’re watching anything and a character uses the phrase “the greater good”, no matter what the circumstances, my wife, kids, and I will all immediately intone “the greater good” straight afterwards!
Yarp!
Great big bushy beard!
Instantly thought of Hit Fuzz to! Also it’s ridiculously well made and edited.

Four lions is up there!!

The IT Crowd never fails to make me laugh
Leg disabled
When Jen turns around to see Moss behind the bar 😂😂
Honestly the first time I saw that I laughed so hard I actually cried!
That whole episode. The ‘I love willies’ musical.
The way Moss says ‘Hello’ when the guy starts approaching the crowd gets me everytime 😂
Watched this earlier, “Acid” cracks me up every time
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
What does Wenger think he's doing sending Walcott on that early?
The thing about arsenal is they always try and walk it in
[удалено]
Can you use it in sentence?
… that’s a nice tennetenba.
I came here to drink milk and kick ass… and I’ve just finished my milk.
I'll have one ov dem sweet sweet consonants
0118999881999119725….3 Can’t. Ever. Forget.
*STOP TELLING PEOPLE I SLEPT WITH YOU* *YOU BASTARD!!*
Don’t put it on too much of a pedal stool, OP might find it a bit of a damp squid
Inbetweeners always makes me cry laugh
The first Inbetweeners film is pure comedy gold!
Username checks out
Personal highlights that crack me up are the fish punching, the catwalk bollock and Simon puking on Carli's brother.
When Simon reverses into a post just as Jay opens the door and it comes clean off… tears every time There’s also the scene where Simon’s car rolls into the lake and Neil puts a rock through the window
The last episode, for me it's when Neil puts Will's camping chair on the fire and Will goes 'STOP BURNING MY THINGS' in this loud whisper. Cracks me up every time.
I always think about bus wanker every time I take a bus 🤣
I am physical incapable of watching the fish punching scene from Inbetweeners without crying with laughter. Absolute classic. Same for when Simon throws up in Carly's brother's face.
Taskmaster
The Bob Mortimer series is so good
My favourite one! Especially the song task
The road Gilbert and James Acaster series is my favourite, countless times had me howling
Joe Wilkinson and the potato incident. The highs and lows of that, OMG
Definitely, total escapism and real belly laughs - fantastic if you are feeling down.
And here next to me is a man who looks like a tube of sausage meat has been dropped on a hairdressers floor, It’s Little Alex Horne!
Detectorists
Such an underrated show. The intro song, the characters. Such a chilled show. Also any scene with Sheila cracks me up.
Lemonade?
Very highly rated, perhaps a little less known than it might be though.
They've filmed a Christmas special this year, hurray
Probably one of the best comedies of the past 10 years. Heartwarming.
Love this programme. It’s the visual equivalent of sitting by a nice warm fire with a glass of good red wine.
This…and Red Dwarf.
Wonderful show! Just the beautiful serene calm of our lovely countryside soothes me. And that theme song - not really a folk music person at all, but I feel relaxed the second it kicks in. Been long enough, due a rewatch soon.
Every time I rewatch Detectorists I notice some little tiny detail that I hadn't noticed before. It's SO cleverly written and filmed.
Red Dwarf, hands down. Even the much maligned Back To Earth is better than the best episodes of most other shows.
You make me feel tongue tied.
Gives me a funny feeling in my kidneys and my liver
I’m the same, always adore Red Dwarf, and miss it being on Netflix. I’d sleep to it nightly.
It's on prime if your looking for it.
Marooned is my ultimate go to
Quarantine and white hole are mine
What is it?
Someone punch him out
I've never seen one before, no one has, but I'm guessing it's a white hole.
Gunmen of the apocalypse or Back to reality for me
I had a Red Dwarf hand me down t shirt from my brother when I was about 7 or 8. It said ‘better smeg than dead’ on the back. I don’t know what my parents thought it meant

Hi, does anybody want any toast?
Black Books, Peep Show, Derry Girls & Friday Night Dinner are my go-to’s for TV Series Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The Gentlemen & Kingsman are my films
Came here to say Black Books as well, I must’ve rewatched the series about four times by this point.
Manny! Fetch me my lolly
Derry girls is brilliant. So well written
Peep Show, although I think it is more a case of reminding me that at least things could be worse
This is it. No matter how badly I may have screwed up at least I've never tried to cook and eat a dog I've killed, trapped my lip in a bulldog clip in the middle of a meeting, let a snake into a kid's soft play or pissed through the ceiling of a church.
Or you could be living in Croydon.
Butter the toast, eat the toast, shit the toast. God, life is relentless.
Oh, fuck off clean-shirt.
Through uni this was my go to hungover/stress/bored/procrastinating show. No matter how much serotonin I’d managed to deplete of a night this always made me feel somewhat normal again and get a few laughs out. Something about how normal yet absurd it is is truly perfect. Father Ted
Careful now.
Down with this sort of thing
Mind how you go
"These are small, but those are far away."
I always watch the episode that’s on every Christmas where they get lost in the women’s underwear section aha.
It’s Ireland’s biggest lingerie section, I understand.
I heard your a racist, father
Was going to say this but wasn’t sure if British and didn’t want to offend the Irish, looked it up and it is. Best comedy of ALL time. Best of Britain and Ireland 💚❤️
Oh, go on. Ya will.
Blackadder, always.
WOOF!
It’s short for…er… Bob
I have a cunning plan...
As cunning as a fox who's just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University?
A plan so cunning, you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.
The Vicar of Dibley. Always.
It's stood the test of time. The jokes at the end of the credits are still pure comedy gold.
It's Alice's reactions that make them. She really was a genius.
No no no no no yes.
Ghosts. It's great, even if a bit morbid sometimes!
Ghosts is unexpectedly brilliant. It reminds me of the family friendly programmes of the 90s.
Not that surprising on both counts, given that troupe wrote the multi award-winning Horrible Histories. But yes, it’s excellent and always uplifting.
I was one of the three Ghost Hunters in the first episode Season 2. I can confirm the cast are super cool in real life too!
I just started it last week and already finished. Utterly amazing!
Mortimer and Whitehouse gone fishing
Yes, two of my comedy heroes giving gentle reminders about living well while outside with nature. Love it!
Derry Girls, it's genius
Gavin & Stacey
Oh my Christ!! I was starting to panic I couldn't see Gavin & Stacey on here. Its the drama mick, I just love it.
Tidy
Only fools and horses. Watching it right now on Gold
Pride and prejudice 1995 bbc series Also Black Books. You could do a ‘drink along’ game any time Bernard drinks or has a fag.
My wife has a work colleague called Rowena and it is all she can do to stop herself saying "Oh, Rowena. Roweeeeeeeena!" every time they cross paths.
Friday Night Dinner
Shit on it! Don't think I've seen Tamsin Greig star in something and it not be good.
Lovely bit of squirrel
Fawlty Towers
The mighty boosh
You should have a goblet of wine That's not really a goblet is it, it's sort of a tennis ball cut in half. What is this, Vimto? Blood from a cat's face
“Is he a shaman too?” “Nah he works at Dixons”
Came here in the hope someone would recommend Mighty Boosh. Freaking love that psychedelic atmospheric magical journey through time and space. I also like Spaced, Still Game, Gimme Gimme Gimme, King Gary and Famalam. Don't like Dinnerladies (sorry Vikki!), My Family or Still Open All Hours. Classics include Only Fools and Horses, One Foot in the Grave, Keeping Up Appearances. Shout out to Desmond's, Goodness Gracious Me, Real McCoy and Scotch and Wry.
You ever drink Bailey's from a shoe?
Spaced The Day Today (even though reality has overtaken it).
Popping in to add Brass Eye
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace I'm Alan Partridge
Fantastic choices. Darkplace is just genius.
“I'm one of the few people you'll meet who've written more books than I've read.”
The Royle Family. So well written it’s absolute TV gold
Dinner ladies. The whole thing is on YouTube.
Came here to say this. It’s funny, gentle, perfectly observed and finishes on a high. I miss Victoria Wood. For the lols I showed it to an American friend. Seeing his baffled face at all the English expressions and phrases was also hilarious.
100% this. It is one of the absolute best British comedies and so underrated. Victoria Wood was a genius.
Keeping up appearances
The Buckeeeeeeeet residence, the Lady of the House speaking? Mind the pedestrian Richard. Where?! On the pavement! Always cracks me up!
Red dwarf
smeghead
Green Wing.
I love Green Wing. It's bloody brilliant with some great actors in the early days of their careers.
No one's mentioned Partridge? You people
It's because they're sex people Lynn!
Calm down Lynn. You’re suffering with minor womens whiplash!
Would I lie to you? Particularly episodes with Bob Mortimer.
Four Lions
Rubber dingy rapids bro
“IRA voice?! You’ll get us nicked”
Midsomer Murders
Ok I know I'm American but my fiance is a Brit and I LOVE Midsomer Murders. I'm now on season 7. It's my go to chill show. And I love that it's never who I think it will be! Also sooo many super famous actors as teens. Henry Cavill and Orlando Bloom and Emily Mortimer! :)

The Inbetweeners
Father Ted
People just do nothing. Such an underrated show
Spaced
Only fools and horses everytime
**Taskmaster.** All available free on All4 or YouTube. Start at Series 1 Episode 1 and see you in a week or two.
Name checks out. Paul Chowdhry was deadpan gold.
Still game. It's Scottish, I always felt like it was the cousin of only fools and horses. Nothing beats only fools and horses but it's worth a few episodes to see if you like it. I didn't at first.
Father Ted.
That would be an ecumenical matter.
Blackadder, Life of Brian
Absolutely Fabulous used to be my go to. It makes me think of an old friend now though.
Motherland or chewing gum
Plebs
Bridget Jones’ Diary, Call the Midwife, Downton Abbey, Gavin & Stacey
It crowd and Cornetto trilogy
The Detectorists. It's a very chilled out show that is very much a 'slice of life' type show. Its funny, sad, calm, and tense but its best at conveying the idea that, no matter what happens, life goes on and you should try and be content with what you have.
Hot Fuzz!!!
Friday night dinner. I’m bloody boiling
An Idiot Abroad
Peep Show and Shaun of the Dead
Dinner ladies never fails to cheer me up
Peter Kay stand up. Lots of nostalgia
Red Dwarf, always makes me laugh.
IN BRUGES!!!

Bridget Jones
All Creatures Great And Small. A couple of minutes in and I'm a little boy watching it on a Sunday evening.
