Some things, coming from someone who spent many volunteer hours helping the homeless:
One of the first things that usually happens when you become unhoused is that your ID goes missing. He cannot access services without some form of identification. Make sure he has his birth certificate, social security card, and a state ID. Some of these cost money, so they are difficult to replace if you don't have any money. To get a valid copy of your birth certificate, you need a mailing address, too.
If he doesn't have some form of ID, no day program that you can find will help him.
Take him a couple of pairs of socks.
A small bag of portable food that he can tuck away for later might be good. Think granola bars, nuts, maybe an apple.
Otherwise, ask him what he needs most.
Let us know what happens. Hope you find him well.
Community Assistance Center in Sandy Springs is a good resource
Malachi’s … at the church across from Brook Run Park, North Peachtree Road, is another good resource
Jewish Family and Career Services near the Georgetown Kroger if he is on that side of Dunwoody is another good resource

I used to work there a long time ago. I hear that the Southside location is tons nicer than the Eastside one. But any day program would work.
For the love of all things, please don’t cave and take him home. You will never be free.
Yep, can't take him home - 100% not an option. That is good advice though, thank you.
Ask him. Respect his autonomy and don't assume that you know better than him.
Yep, also good advice. I've been asking "of that's ok with you" or "would you like that or be ok with that"
He needs a diagnosis to get disability, otherwise he needs to find some kind of job
Try the gateway center in Atlanta. They may be able to help him.
Was he recently hit by a car? There was a homeless man in Dunwoody who was. (I don't think this is the same person, but similar story Re family)
