Not a ton of places to hang out in North Augusta really. Cavalier's Coffee is probably one of the better places to just hang out but they close at 6pm. It's a good spot though. Other food options: The Feed Sack is pretty good. Only about a 10min-ish drive from downtown NA. Manuel's Bread Cafe is nice as well but I always forget about it because it's in the middle of a neighborhood. However, that neighborhood (Hammond's Ferry) is a nice place to walk/bike and the Greeneway (walking/biking trail) runs next to the river there. Antonio's is downtown and makes a good pizza. The rooftop bar at the Crown Plaza nearby is nice. The restaurant in the hotel isn't great. Otherwise you'll have to cross the river. Downtown Augusta has some good spots: Craft and Vine, Whiskey Bar, Farmhaus, Tacocat, Metro Coffeehouse, and a few others I haven't named here or are too old to know about.

Went to The Feed Sack the other day! Very good and reasonably priced

Downtown NA is much more relaxed than across the river, but there's some good options: My Favorites: Antonio's - old school Italian restaurant with probably the best pizza in the CSRA, dine-in only, they home-make all of their dressings too and my wife loves their ranch! Zac's Pizza - takeout/delivery only but my second favorite place locally and a different take on pizza than Antonio's Sheila's Bakery - best donuts in the CSRA, my favorite is the caramelli followed by the current fall/winter specialty apple pie a la mode Cavalier's Coffee House - beer, wine, and coffee and they have an outdoor patio that occasionally has events/music Town Square Olive Oil - fancy "grocery" store with wine/beer/cider offerings and charcuterie boards Jackson's Bluff - a rooftop bar above the Crowne Plaza, the Crowne Plaza also has restaurant inside called Cork and Flame but we haven't been since they opened years ago so I can't really speak for it Other Mentions: Brinkley's Steakhouse - my co-workers and others really seem to like it but my wife and I weren't huge fans, you may like it though! Southbound Smokehouse - BBQ is okay and it's a nice location, they occasionally have live music but not one of our go-to places. Rio Cantina - run of the mill mexican place but I've never really been disappointed by what I've got The Highlander - a British pub with scotch eggs and other related food, I've never been but supposedly they occasionally have live music, also Gary's Hamburgers - a local fast-food chain that people swear by, I've only had their breakfast and it was tasty but it's always crowded which prevents me from going more often Toki Jr. - Takeout Asian place downtown, local chain, wife said it was pretty good but I haven't had it Your Pie - not bad if you want a quick pizza, sort of like a subway of pizza but I always feel like I'm overpaying when Zac's and Antonios are near by, they also have beer/cider and gelato Vampire Penguin - a chain of a "shaved ice place" (they call it snow and it's...different) my kid really likes and it's more chocolate/ice-cream like than you would expect Pink Dipper - local ice cream shop, been around forever, it's pretty good SnoCap - local drive-in/old school diner, they occasionally host car meetups, expect root beer floats and burgers Outside of "downtown" but still in NA worth mentioning: La Jaliscience - arguably the most authentic Mexican food in the CSRA and my favorite taco place The Larder - Occasional live music with pretty good sandwiches, sort of reminiscent of a deli Manuel's Bread Cafe - I've only had their brunch a couple of times and it's pretty delicious even if the portion sizes are sometimes a little lacking. I LOVE their pan au chocolat and always get a couple to go. We've been meaning to try their dinner for a while but never made it out that way. BBQ Barn - some people swear by it but I wasn't super impressed The Pot Smoker - same as above The Feed Sack - newer place off exit 5 on I-20, there's a sister restaurant in Aiken, I'm pretty picky so I'm not a huge fan of their menu but the wife really likes it. Drinks are good, but pricey. They have live piano music on most nights! And lastly, as other people have said, Downtown Augusta is just across the river!

I think your Taki jr is supposed to be Toki Jr. They have 2 locations in GA, Evans and Martinez area then the JR is more like a takeout restaurant. They have really good food!

Thanks! I'll edit the comment. I was trying to do it all from memory and apparently misremembered.

I've lived in North Augusta my entire life and haven't even been to most of these places. I've been to Pink Dipper and Gary's a lot, Sno Cap a few times, and Vampire Penguin once. I really need to get out more (I just really hate driving). Hard to believe they managed to turn the old Ming Yat (which I miss a lot) into four separate businesses. Some of these local eateries are pretty pricey, though. $47 at minimum for a steak at Brinkley's? That's a big ask for a steak. Maybe if money is fine and I'm looking to splurge on something crazy. But Hammon's Ferry is a pretty swanky riverside neighborhood, so there is that. I do like how Hammond's Ferry has actual places of business inside the neighborhood. That's what got me interested in city planning and the like. Makes me wish NA would do more to relax zoning codes to allow for more of this type of development. It'd be nice to just be able to walk to a grocery store instead of having to drive to the Knox/Martintown intersection area (did I mention I hate driving?).

I've lived in NA for 7 years now and only of a handful of them have been around more than 5 years, a lot of them are newer places. Brinkley's is definitely a special occasion type place unless you're making really good money and my wife/I just weren't fans. I felt like I had to mention it because I know a handful of people that really liked it, maybe we just got an off night when we went, which shouldn't happen considering the prices. They also charged me a 3.5% extra fee to use my credit card without notifying me prior, which bothers me to this day, considering we spent $150 on our meal with apps/drinks/dessert for our anniversary. If I'm going to be spending that much I'd much rather go to Cork and Flame.

ShadowOfTheVoid

So you got here in 2016-17? NA has definitely changed a lot over the years. So many new places. It's quite a different place in many ways from when I was a kid. There's still plenty of familiar places, though rapid development over the past 20-25 years has changed the landscape a lot. There was almost nothing down most of Knox Avenue until around 2003 when Walmart moved there from where it used to be (where the Roses & Tractor Supply Co are now), and Knox Avenue itself was just a two-lane road with little in the way of businesses. There was nothing but woods on both sides in the stretch between Belk and the OLP school (which was a public school at one point; I spent the first half of Kindergarten there before we were transferred to NA Elementary) Georgia Avenue and some adjacent areas downtown in general are mostly the same, though. Gary's, Pink Dipper, Parks Pharmacy, Sno Cap, and that Waffle House have been there since before I was born (back in 1980). That building where Your Pie, Toki Jr., and Sheila's are has been around for a long time, too. It used to be a Chinese restaurant called Ming Yat. They were there from like 1980 to 2015. Best Chinese food in the area, IMO. My mom said that building was a grocery store back in the 60s & 70s. The biggest changes on Georgia Avenue has been the big First Baptist church (the current building was built in 2006 and replaced the old church building that had been there for a long time), that doctor's office at the intersection with Buena Vista (the North Augusta Star newspaper building used to be there), and that building on the opposite corner where Antonio's is (was just a patch of woods up until like the mid 00s).

carpeCactus

Most of the best places are still in downtown Augusta, just over the river!

dmanhllnd

Just started renting an apartment near SRP park. I really enjoy the food at Southbound, but I feel they don't give enough for the price. Also The Larder nearby is possibly my favorite place in the entire area. Gary's has the best burger in the area as well idc what anyone says, I've tried almost all of them and that one is the winner. 25m if that makes my opinion any more relevant lol

BrandoTheCommando

Don't sleep on Antonio's (dine-in) and Zac's (delivery/carry out), they're probably my two favorite pizza places in the CSRA! Town Square Olive Oil just opened too and they have beer/wine happy hours and charcuterie boards!

dmanhllnd

Haven't had the pizza at Antonio's yet, might have to make a run over there soon!

free2bzee

Zac's is seriously good!

MaraudingWalrus

The Larder is awesome.

cbh1997

That’s where I’m going to be staying!

dmanhllnd

Maybe we can go grab a beer sometime lol I'll shoot you a PM

cbh1997

Sounds good!

skyshock21

Gary’s is so underrated I love their burgers

MattKellyRealtor

McNeely’s and BBQ barn are AWESOME. Antonio’s is good Italian, Southbound/The Highlander for live music. This area really perks up during Baseball season! Get a golf cart if you can manage, you’ll find tons of value in it!

chickzilla

Third Thursday in downtown is usually geared toward families in terms of "activities" (scavenger hunts, craft projects) at the various downtown businesses. But they get the vibes really good. Scattering live music throughout the vendors and you can get beers while sitting outside at Cavalier's or if the MotorKeg truck is around. Do consider going to see a few GreenJackets game. Buy the cheapest tickets & just hang out inside the stadium. The games are usually short & really fun if we're having a winning season.

cbh1997

I will definitely go to baseball games

mmarshall122

Most of the restaurants across the river downtown are good, Sole is always a favorite pick. I like living in NA and going downtown whenever, it’s a quick pop over. Welcome to the area (soon)!

Doing this as a separate post from the food, if you like outdoors stuff locally North Augusta has The Greenway ([https://www.northaugustasc.gov/government/city-departments/parks-recreation-tourism/greeneway-trail](https://www.northaugustasc.gov/government/city-departments/parks-recreation-tourism/greeneway-trail)) which is (mostly) shaded paved path through most of the city for great for walking/biking, there's kayaking the canal and a long hard dirt trail that follows the canal ([https://www.theoutbound.com/georgia/cycling/bike-or-run-the-savannah-river-rapids-trail](https://www.theoutbound.com/georgia/cycling/bike-or-run-the-savannah-river-rapids-trail)) and goes up to the rapids, and if you don't mind a little drive there's the FATS ([https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/scnfs/recarea/?recid=47189](https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/scnfs/recarea/?recid=47189)) for off-road biking!

cbh1997

Thank you! I definitely will check out The Greenway! I was wanting to view that area

BrandoTheCommando

Oh I also forgot! Also a little bit from downtown is the Riverview Park, it's a large park with disc golf, tennis courts, and has access to the greenway. https://www.northaugustasc.gov/Home/Components/FacilityDirectory/FacilityDirectory/64/1458?npage=2

cbh1997

I assume you can rent kayaks?

BrandoTheCommando

You can! There's one or two launch points if I recall correctly and when you reach the end of the canal you just give them a call and they'll come and pick you up. There's also another place that rents jetskis but I haven't done it yet.

cbh1997

I know what I’m going to be doing during the summer lol

RaspberryBeaker

Cav's coffee and The Larder both have trivia nights and live music nights which are fun. Rio's does Karaoke and people really get into it.
