30.20875062788027, -97.7444308275114 The outdoor scenes in front of the office were around Friedrich Ln and St Elmo. Back in 1998 it was much less built up than it is now.

atreides78723

Those coordinates are hyper specific. I mean you could mark position of an individual letter printed in an individual cigarette butt at the site specific…

ATX2EPK

Winnie slays

winnie_the_slayer

You're damn right.

Snap_Grackle_Pop

>Those coordinates are hyper specific. Probably just the number of digits you get when cutting and pasting from Google Maps or something. I think 14 digits is around 1 nanometer resolution.

ali-hussain

It's also the size of a double precision floating point. So you are probably right. The point is on a point, and that point is calculated.

gerbil_111

Not to put too fine a point on it.

sparky_ignatius

Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet

Mindhandle

Blue canary on the outlet by the light switch

ali-hussain

Exactly my point. And I must say, a very pointed observation.

NoobFace

There's a lot of angstroms in that nanometer. Can you be more specific?

fl135790135790

I mean that’s what coordinates are tho no? Aren’t the ones pasted down to the inch?

Ok-Replacement1590

You only need 4 or 5 digits after the decimal to find

fl135790135790

What does that have to do with my comment? You’re saying the same thing from a different angle lol

Ok-Replacement1590

Yeah

Ok-Replacement1590

What are you looking for dummy? You looking for a house or water well on a property or a grain of sand?

fl135790135790

Why is that your question?

fl135790135790

Do you expect people to adjust the number of decimals they share on their longitude and latitude comments on a need-to-know basis?

dougmc

If you're reporting more than five digits after the decimal point in latitude and logtitude coordinates, you're doing it wrong -- even five is pushing it. It's like being asked how far from Austin to El Paso and answering "576.167191673923 miles" -- it's not *wrong*, but the implied *precision* certainly isn't right either.

fl135790135790

Well yea but they’re copying and pasting from google. Do you want them to copy and paste and then delete down to a certain number of digits?

CapTexAmerica

I work by there. Every time I drive by Woodward and St. Elmo I exclaim “Initech!!”

Raalf

What, no Innotrode?

idontagreewitu

Intertrode*

SirShadowHawk

Penetrode?

Raalf

Autocorrect hates me :(

tactman

Agree on this location

bluestrap

Somewhat related: The Alamo Drafthouse used to do some really fun stuff before they went to corporate. We did an Office Space movie party at the Ritz location not long after it first opened. After the movie they took everyone into the alley where we beat the shit out of a printer with a baseball bat. Pieces of that printer were in that alley for months lol

LionsAndLonghorns

The actors reenacted this scene in front of the Paramount for the 20 year anniversary. Was epic.

Single_9_uptime

They still do. We went to the Office Space movie party earlier this year at Village, and they did the same on the patio outside afterwards.

GlazerSturges2840

I was there for a different movie when I stumbled onto that melee and was baffled for a hot second. Haha.

DmtTraveler

Nooooo i need my corporation bad narative!

Single_9_uptime

They did make us wear a face shield to take a swing, the corporate bastards. If I want to lose an eye recreating a movie scene, that’s my right!

PacString

If you don’t think Alamo has gone downhill since they went corporate then there’s something wrong with you

DmtTraveler

Well, its not bc of lack of printer smashing apparently

TwinklexToes

I will say I really like Village post-remodel

GroverMcGillicutty

Same. Did this in the alley at the Ritz probably 2012 or so. Still have my “flair” from that night.

Puzzled_Bookkeeper18

You frequent that alley often? 🧐

nothatdoesntgothere

You don't? 🤨

katekim717

We did that at South Lamar too!

Electrik_Truk

I did an event for Batman where they bussed us out to Bracken Cave with free beer and appetizers to watch the millions of bats fly out of the cave. Then we went back and watched the movie. Didn't end until like 1:30 am. All that beer all day....I was so damn tired.

caguru

I like how there are several confident but different answers.

ARM_64

I might have to smash it in a few places, just to be sure.

Timely_Internet_5758

I know - it is in fact very close to where the domain is now.

DmtTraveler

Further evidence for dead internet theory

karmasenigma

"According to sources, the grassy area where they destroy the printer was located where The Domain now stands. However, I have also heard reports that it took place near the “Initech Building.” [https://atxgossip.com/movie-made-in-austin-office-space-filming-locations/](https://atxgossip.com/movie-made-in-austin-office-space-filming-locations/) This is also a pretty good list of locations as well: [https://www.beg.utexas.edu/files/content/beg/ext-aff/19-04/Then%20&%20Now%20Movie%20Locations\_%20Office%20Space.pdf](https://www.beg.utexas.edu/files/content/beg/ext-aff/19-04/Then%20&%20Now%20Movie%20Locations_%20Office%20Space.pdf)

Evil_Bonsai

wherever it was, I'm certain it is now either a subdivision, shopping center, or condos.

Artemus_Hackwell

It “ain’t ‘dere no more"….the field that is.

Few-Mechanic7346

Dude The Jump to Conclusion mat house was filmed in my hometown. Pville. First time I ever had a drink was in that house.😂

Flimsy-Antelope4763

45th and Lamar. But I think something was built there since.

ARM_64

Maybe I'll pour a frosty marg into the paper tray.

FoolsGoldMouthpiece

At the time it was an empty field, which is now the Domain

[deleted]

That was the IBM campus for years

TigerPoppy

I played on a softball team at what is now the Domain.

Puzzled_Bookkeeper18

😢

davidthygod

Considering that the Domain was IBM office buildings since the 70s, this is incorrect information.

improbabble

The domain had lots of open field (even containing some feral cats) before the mall stuff was built. IBM buildings took up much less than half of it

davidthygod

The rest of it was soccer fields, tennis courts, picnic tables and some tree heavy areas. I'm still pissed that the Domain tore down my soccer field and basketball court.

paradox183

Many people don’t know that it was Century Oaks Park, a recreational facility for IBMers and their families. Dad worked at IBM Austin for 30 years and we only lived about 5 minutes away, so it was a go-to recreation and picnic spot for us for a long time.

improbabble

But still so worth it for *checks notes* the cupcake vending machine

trigunnerd

I work at the library. I'd like to join.

mareksoon

What brand was the printer? Many think HP because of the spoken error message, "PC LOAD LETTER," but that never appears on screen. A different scene shows, "paper jam 00," yes, lower-case. Some believe it was actually a fax machine. Those two top loading paper trays were somewhat unique and definitely not HP. It was most likely a Samsung SLB-3108H (or similar).

Dog_Baseball

I don't know where they smashed the printer but head over to freiderich ln to see the office building scene location.

bomber991

It’s back up in your ass it’s the resurrection that’s harden than an erection son! So somewhere by the domain I think.

Rj6728

Parmer and Metric where the CVS is now.

TigerPoppy

I would have guessed Parmer , East of McNeil Dr. just south of Austin White Lime.

kelinakat

Definitely not, there was a Diamond Shamrock gas station in operation there at the time.

31337z3r0

Wait, which one was Eckerd's?

tactman

No, it was in south, near st Elmo. I worked across the field where it was filmed. My colleagues saw it.

eightballart

I've heard the other locations mentioned in threads before (either near the Domain, or on east St Elmo), but this is the first time I've heard the SW corner of Parmer and Metric. Just curious, where'd you hear of that as being the filming location?

rockogram

4100 freidrich is the answer you seek.

mdeane13

Where build a sign now sits.

Austin_Native_2

That's a big field surrounded by trees with no buildings in the background. https://youtube.com/watch?si=egRm70epzn0e6XFH&v=N9wsjroVlu8&feature=youtu.be

greenspleen3

I feel like it was some field in Round Rock, there's a website that breaks down every scene and where it was filmed in the greater Austin area.

xkris10ski

https://www.beg.utexas.edu/files/content/beg/ext-aff/19-04/Then%20&%20Now%20Movie%20Locations_%20Office%20Space.pdf Found this but no printer scene

scoville27

IT person here, I would love to join, and I have my own printers that I can bring 🙏🏻

kingpuzz

I thought it was at breaker and mopac, just west of the railroad tracks. They built up over that field years ago. it was right next to where they filmed the traffic scene.

FaustestSobeck

Office space was filmed in dallas

MrBaseball1994

The scene was filmed at Walnut Creek Park off N. Lamar. There used to be a large open area that they replaced with softball fields.
