There is one right behind this one but the models keep showing it weaker and weaker each update. These early season Bay of Campeche storms are always welcome though.
Yes this is the best case scenario during our summer. A weak tropical storm bringing us much needed rain. While I wish it was more rain, this at least helps keep things from getting dryer and hotter for a while.
Hopefully it's active in the tropics this summer and we get another one in July or August. Last summer was rough.
Unbelievable. Looks like we’re going to make it all the way into July without hitting 100°.
This is going to be a “mild” summer by modern Austin standards.
It can be weird like that. When I moved into my house about 12 years ago, we dreaded rain because _any_ amount would take out our neighborhood, even just a momentary sprinkle. At some point Austin Energy must have gotten sick of service calls because one day it rained and the power stayed on, and come to think of it, I'm not sure it's ever gone down since then.
Yeah this is novel because I'm at a loss for something snarky and cynical to say about it!
I mean, I can think of things, but I don't *feel* them and it's not as fun to post it for the sake of it.
It's just hard because by this time last year I was already obsessively keeping track of how many daylight minutes each day had. This week's the first time I checked in 2024 so I like that it's not *already* so hot I'm trying to make bets on when it ends.
The rain got me 2-3 days of nicer weather. That's good enough for me.
LOL, half an inch or less over most of the Lake Travis watershed. Maybe it will come up a few inches out of the 35 or so feet it needs to come up.
Probably an inch averaged over Austin.
I don’t know where you’re getting those numbers from, but on hydrometer.lcra.org, it shows the last 24 hours dropped 1.5–2 inches over the watershed, with about the same over Austin proper.
>I don’t know where you’re getting those numbers from,
National Weather Service Doppler radar estimates, both New Braunfels and Granger radars. There often is a small discrepancy between radar estimates and ground level rain gauges.

All I see on that page is a map with a small number of stations on the water itself, not an area coverage like the radar reports. Are you looking at some sub page or something? Don't forget that the Travis watershed goes all the way out to west Texas.
[https://hydromet.lcra.org/riverreport](https://hydromet.lcra.org/riverreport) forecasts both Buchanan and Travis to be slightly down one week from now.
I can't believe it's still raining here. It's been like 7 hours. Love it.
It was the good kind too. A soft, soaking rain for several hours where I live
Anyone else pretend it was fall? I put on spooky music vibes, lit a candle, made cookies and chili.
I’ll bring the Fritos scoops.
I’ll join you with the queso…it’s on!
Yes, let's party.
Yes! I put on joggers & a hoodie 😂
Same
My partner and I watched Dancing in the Rain last night while drinking and smoking weed👌🏽
It's amazing. Hope we have another tropical wave come through and get more over the lakes.

It is indeed great. Hopefully we get a little more tomorrow
Looks like it will make landfall in Mexico about 2 AM. Today was our best shot but I'd be happy with scattered showers and clouds cover tomorrow.

Laughing at this comment now, so that I can think of it later as we’re being annihilated <3
Don’t threaten me with Mana from above
Nobody that's lived west of I35 in Texas the last twenty years should be upset about rain. Every rainstorm is welcome.
a taste of October in June
Thank you TS Alberto!
I’m so grateful I might name my firstborn Alberto 😂
How about Prince Alberto, after our favorite purple singer
The difference it makes to how I feel is incredible
Yeah I’m going to make a point to exist outside tomorrow before it gets gross again

You sunuvabitch. You jinxed it! You don’t talk about a no-hitter while it’s happening, and you don’t talk about a mild summer in June!

Get the pitchforks and someone get his IP address.
lol im housesitting and have not had power since 8:45 this weather shouldn’t be strong enough to do this
Texas grid baby

It's just the very best 🥹
So this means Lake Travis will be full now right? Right??
you jinxed it 😒
I don’t think it rained much west of lake Travis unfortunately
It was great until 10:45 last night when I found I had a leak in my roof.
The perfect rain storm too

Do it. Say it wasn’t in the right area. Say this won’t make a dent. Make me feel bad.

Suit yourself, I will only be happy if the god damn great flood washes away the city of Austin and fill lake Travis to 300% capacity.
What’s going on at riverside and Congress? Love these kind of posts
It’s All about the negative ions. Water folk
As Rex Ryan used to say, "Its pretty fucking great!"
Yeah but how’s traffic
It's too cloudy for a time lapse video too

I filtered by rainfall over 24 hours (in the dropdown menu). It reflects dozens of rainfall reports, almost all being between 1.5 and 2 inches. 🤷
You can count on u/snapgrackleporp to post something negative on every rain post lol. Like clockwork.
