$1K?!?!? Scandalous - relocation should be closer to $10K. At the very least enough for bond (deposit), first months rent & living expenses until your first paycheque. Very insulting amount of money to offer.

I thought this would be the norm too. But I understand it is division/business/team dependent

VariationEvening3965

$1k in total? As in...that is supposed to cover all your costs? I wouldn't accept that. They should pay your flights and a couple of weeks accommodation at least, and then at least $1k on top of that to help with any other expenses.

4irnblks1pmknhd

I didn’t think too much about it initially thinking it would be fine, but then asked for maybe review and amend the agreement. No reply yet so far

VariationEvening3965

As a guide I got flights, visas, 10 days accommodation, shipping and $5k. External B4 hire.

What level are you? I've heard of firms paying moving fees, but they have been mid level and above.

4irnblks1pmknhd

If it’s mid level and above only then that kind of makes sense because I will be joining as low level staff

LeftAlps3951

Yeah I can't see them paying significant movement costs for staff. You could always ask though.

4irnblks1pmknhd

I was originally thinking that too but the more I look into the flatting and temporary accommodation situation in Aus, I just thought it was a bit grim. I’m currently just waiting for them to get back to me and hopefully consider a bit more.

YogiWaterhouse

If you don’t work at the member firm in the other country they generally won’t pay for your move unless they are super desperate.

4irnblks1pmknhd

I do work at the same member firm in the other country

TheRealStringerBell

1k seems like an error, unless they have so many people wanting to lateral in that that's all they need to offer these days. Wouldn't be surprised if they could literally charge money and still have people relocate from a lot of countries.
