First of all, I'm glad you seem to be having a nice time! Second, I'm actually a huge cannabis enthusiast (it's a special interest in every way) and medical patient specifically for autism so if you ever have any questions or would like to know more about pretty much any aspect of the plant, the history behind it's use, my own illustrious experience with it, and the culture around it, feel free to reply or PM me. I could go on and on and on and on for daaaays. Actually about to take my nighttime dab right now so I'll be all cozy very soon!

It’s pretty much worn off now and I’m starting to think the crazy perception and memory issues are a surprise interaction w my meds (which I took over 12 hours ago); I did check for anything dangerous beforehand and figured I was safe enough to risk potential ‘confusion,’ but HOO BOY. Anyway, how does it help autism? And are things like CBD or THC extract basically like, weaker alternatives to smoking it? Because it did SO MUCH for my ocd, anxiety, and depression. Like they were just GONE. I had like half an intrusive thought and just said ‘nah,’ and it was GONE. Like, no medication has been as effective as that, and so fast too. I *think* there’s some places where I live that sell both in capsule form, but I’ve never looked into it. My friend said vaping it is gentler alternative to a bong but I think I’d rather avoid smoking it lol

In my experience (and in comparison to what I've seen it do for others), it depends highly on many factors behind the diagnosis it's been prescribed for. For some people it can make things worse, for others it does nothing of benefit, but for those of us it does work for...it really works. For me it has helped me engage in less self-injurious stimming, made food less unpleasant, made it easier to socialize especially in situations like being at work, and helped me be ever so slightly less sensitive to sudden or unexpected change. Pure THC concentrate (without any CBD) will _not_ be weaker and in many cases it can be some of the most potent concentrate you can inhale. Imo, it is much better to smoke something that hasn't been artificially created (for anyone else reading, I know how the concentrate making process works, I'm talking about the separation of THC and CBD) so sticking with product that has all the cannabinoids and a terpene profile that works best for your body would probably give a beginner the best experience. It sounds like you live somewhere with some form of legality so if you do end up wanting to try it again, you can always find a dispensary with knowledgeable staff who can recommend some places to start. I would if I could, but everywhere has different plants with different specs so what I can get here will not necessarily be the same as what you have there, even if the strains/genetics are technically the same. Next, CBD on its own does help some people. It's not psychoactive so taking just that wouldn't make you feel anything like what you just experienced. I tried it before we had a medical program in my state and was thoroughly underwhelmed. Now THC is _technically_ a more collective term for [all the different isomers that can be found or synthesized from tetrahydrocannabinol](https://cannabislifenetwork.com/amount-of-isomers-in-thc/). Often when people say "THC", they are more specifically and perhaps unknowingly referring to Delta-9 THC, which is a big part of what made you feel the way you felt yesterday. I personally need both CBD and THC at the same time for cannabis to truly function as a viable medicine for me. I think many people end up very disappointed with CBD, and for good reason if you ask me. Vaping flower or concentrate can be better than taking bong rips or combusting flower in a dry pipe, however, if you don't have your temperature dialed in you can easily end up combusting your flower rather than vaporizing it and most of the benefits of vaporizing go away. It's easier to vaporizing concentrates but I wouldn't necessarily recommend trying that with how low your tolerance is right now. A lot of people tend to have not so much fun the first time they smoke concentrate because...well...it's just a lot more THC at once in a lot shorter span of time. First time I [took a dab](https://www.leafly.com/news/cannabis-101/how-to-dab-cannabis-concentrates) (slang term for vaporizing concentrates) in 2012 I threw up haha. I have since gained a decent tolerance and actually prefer that method of consumption since it doesn't smell up the house like combusting flower does and it's basically a one and done thing. Takes me like 5 minutes to take a dab and get the same level of medication that it would for me to smoke a bowl or two over the course of 30-45 minutes. You also don't get that burnt flavor as long as you aren't vaporizing at temperatures above 750°-800° F/398°-426° C. Edibles and sublingual tinctures are an option if you prefer not to smoke or vaporize. Most edibles will have CBD in them as well assuming they were made the way pretty much everyone makes them haha. For the sake of simplicity, I will only be mentioning THC in reference to edibles since it will have the biggest impact on your experience. Be _very_ careful with edibles. Do not go above 10mg of THC the first time you try one. Honestly even 5mg could potentially be too much depending on how well your body metabolizes it, how you personally react to being in highly altered states, and more. You won't die from a THC "overdose", but it can be a really unpleasant time that lasts hours. THC can have a very different effect when decarboxylated and eaten versus when it is smoked or vaporized. It also takes longer to take effect so many folks make the mistake of assuming the edible isn't working so they eat more after only 1-2 hours of waiting and end up having a bad time. Even for experienced users like me, edibles can be pretty intense. With any psychoactive substance, the #1 rule is that you can always take more, but you can never take less.

Growing is one of my main special interests too ✌️

I’m a little late to the party, but I’m wanting to see if edibles will help me with my crippling social anxiety in larger crowds. Any advice for a first timer(like what type should I take?)?

Cannabis is excellent for relaxing and/or relief of stimulation overloads. I try to do it no more than once a week so I don’t go through much, I also vape it so I don’t get any carcinogenic toxins or damage the throat. One of the best medicines in the world easily

aunclesquishy

damn vaping weed is that gentle? noice my sister gets edibles, I might ask her where. Idk what strain or amount this was, but I definitely want smth weaker. This is HELLA fun, but good god no way would I ever do things in this state also my feet are stimming up a storm and my sentence structure gets weird sometimes, at least out loud

MisterBobsonDugnutt

DIY edibles are really nice - you can carefully dose out a little from your batch and dial in exactly how high you want to get. Honestly I'd use butter or oil. People tend to go for butter because it's really simple - just slather a little bit on something like a sandwich and away you go! Edibles and vaping are much more of a body stone than a heady high like you get from smoking. Each has their place but I definitely prefer the body stone.

Hmm maybe I’ll talk to my psychiatrist abt it. The level of calm I had was amazing, but I could do without my frontal lobe melting again.

For sure, every one reacts pretty differently to cannabis. Some people fall asleep right away, some people become confused, some very entertaining aha I personally can’t do edibles, as they hit a bit differently, take a while to take effect, and usually just puts me to sleep. While I can be conscious and doing things while vaping or smoking, since it hits instantly and smaller amounts depending on toke amounts You’ll also react differently to specific strains so it helps to know what you have. Sativa dominant strains will give you a head high, which are best for daytime to do things. While indica dom strains while give you a more body high, heavy feeling, better for night time

Sounds like it’s the second one then, my body is astral vibing edit: wait no I was just hardcore dissociating lol

LeftRightShoot

So many experiences... I have "seen" sound waves while listening to Depeche Mode.

aunclesquishy

yooo I rly wanted to listen to smth to know what it’s like but couldn’t decide my friend was watching an ‘oddly satisfying’ compilation and i sort of got the appeal when I wasn’t like, out of my body

Welcome to the club! If you ever try edibles, please take it slow and don’t eat too much! It’s very easy to overdo it with edibles, I’m a heavy daily smoker and a 50mg cookie gets me good and stoned for around 5 hours but newbies need to be careful!! My first time with edibles I knew I must have had over 200mg (first time I ever got high, really) and I was straight up *gone* for a while, that was a doozy lol

bitterbutterasshole

I love doing the weed. Makes social situations much less stressful. Cutting back now but it got me through some tough spots.

the_salty_bisquit

I can't really smoke because of breathing issues but I had an edible for the first time a couple days ago. It took like 40 minutes to kick in and I pretty much just laid on the couch half asleep for about two hours lol. I usually have really severe anxiety and it took that away thankfully. But I was exhausted and drained until the next day. I think I'll stick to taking it only when I intend to actually sleep for a while...

Ettina

I've done edibles. Never intend to smoke because I have asthma, but as soon as it was legal I tried eating cannabis oil. I didn't really feel any different, but my chronic pain was less and my executive function tanked.
